We need a provincial police force that will enforce provincial laws. The last 5 years has shown that the RCMP are only there for the federal government. Ontario and Quebec have one why can't we?
@Blahsheep Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, have had a provincial police force for many, many years. There is no major startup costs, which is a big difference. Rural municipal leaders in Alberta made it clear to the UCP that they oppose an Alberta Provincial Police Force, because they have figured out the costs, and have said it will cost well over $1 billion. In 2012, when Danielle Smith was the Wildrose party leader, she campaigned on having an Alberta Provincial Pension Plan, and an Alberta Provincial Police Force. Albertans said no to those things, and the Wildrose party were defeated to Alison Redford and the Alberta PCs. Keep trying.
Exactly, then we don't need to pay out their fat RCMP pensions after 25 years of service or their punitive damages, Court case losses either!!!! Time to get a provincial police force and rely even less on the Federal Government!! Get the Feds out of here!!
@@dwaynewladyka577 The numbers on the Alberta pension plan make sense, but as you stated those same numbers from the RCMP don't support replacing. Hiring Sheriffs to support local police and rural is a good idea
The more that you can replace the RCMP the better it is . Once a reliable , upstanding police force , the RCMP’s time has long passed . They’ve shown they’re only there at the whim of the Prime Minister . They are just pure brutes now .
This isn’t replacing any police force, this is providing another enforcement unit with only one purpose. And our tax dollars would be better spent by building more jails and more court rooms.
We’ve got enough by-law enforcement - We need an actual police force who will concentrate on enforcing actual Criminal laws - We can’t afford to have a much larger fleet of vehicles racing around in circles!
Still going to be released by our courts… still don’t understand why our police force doesn’t handle anything difficult but they all make over 6 figures…
