Hey everybody. Jen's been reading all the comments and just wanted to say "thank you" to everyone for the nice comments. She's not used to getting so much online attention and is really very pleased everyone enjoyed it so much, and asked me to let everyone know! :)
Troyes (2:15) Forbidden Desert (3:41) Among the Stars (4:40) Suburbia (5:52) Fresco (6:55) The Cave (8:15) Glory to Rome (9:23) CV (10:43) Lords of Waterdeep (12:23) London (13:29) Dixit (14:50) At the Gates of Loyang (16:38) Galaxy Trucker (17:55) Confusion (19:42) Tobago (21:24) Last Will (24:28)
I love your interactions with Jen. It's ace to see such a great love for each other and natural affability and then have it all wrapped around a bucket of good game overviews. Nice stuff Mr R
Richard and Jen's runthroughs are my favourite ones. Entertaining, fun and informative, love the zany style it's great! Also a nice wide range of games covered. Thanks Richard and Jen!
What a lovely way to begin a Rhado Runs Through...with Jen! This was a smashing list of 'also loved' games! I can empathize with Jen in trying to reduce games we love to just 10....there are simply to many really qualified games to make a list so small. Thank you Jen for taking the time to compile your favorites, and thank you Rhado for gracing your 'Run Through' series with this much sought-after list. :)
I love your videos. I wanted to thank you and Jen very much. My wife always wanted to play board games and make it a part of our routine. I've been playing video games for most of my life and found most board/card games very boring because I've played them to death, Life, Monopoly, Uno, Scrabble etc. to name a few. Your run throughs make these games so much more accessible and easy to learn. I have a lot of friends that play a lot of these games but many always seemed very intimidating. You've made complicated sounding games very easy to jump in. Thank you guys so much. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to check out some of these.
+rahdo just wanted to tell you that your vids are the best on the web for seeing if ud like to get a board game!! iv decided to get half my games after watching you and now my sister (we both recently got into modern board games) found these top ten vids and she has gone out and got tzolkin, keyflower, augustus (already huge agricola fans) and is currently looking for dreagon petz! so just wanted to say thank you
I have really enjoyed this video, thanks Rahdo and Jen! I'm always looking for games which works well with two because most of the time I play with my wife. I know, in her opinion, we already have enough games to play but there is always a game or two you can extend the collection with... :) It's a great list so far, Jen, I'm looking forward to the actual top 10 now!
I m introduced to the world of boardgames through some new friends who are die hard and even help to design games for Quined Games (such as papa paolo), went to my first convention (and i m hooked!) and this helps me soo damn much!! would really want to thank you for this videos, keep them comming :D !!!
I love love LOVE how you guys are with each other, so playful yet respectful in a loving way; and most of all VERY supportive of one another! 🥰 #relationshipgoals
Great list of games. I am sure that my wife would love the same set of games as Jane. Especially that she persuades me to buy a "CV" (but I'm not convinced). I love to watch your videos (I watched almost all!!!). I am glad that so many games you like come from my country, Poland. Greetings to you and your wife!
when I first started watching your videos, I think I made it through ten before I started to think, "This man is maybe slightly unstable. Jen does not exist." I know now that I was a fool.
Very well done. Now... we need Jen to play her side during Richard's run throughs. It's okay if she's camera shy (she doesn't have to be on camera.) Her most important job is to keep Richard playing "by the book". You can't guess how many times I've yelled at the monitor, "Jen wouldn't play that!!!". :) To give credit to Richard though, I can't imagine how difficult it is to play both side of a game while taping it. Jen please help your hubby by reminding him of things like: "You didn't pay the 3 coins for that.." or "You already drew an extra card..." Please try it once and check the comments. I believe it would be very successful. Grateful thanks to both of you.
Did I hear you say... in the same breath.... that Jen is NOT a diehard gamer... but then she has a list (that she cannot pare down any further) of 26(!!) top games from 2013! Wow! What... praytell... then defines a diehard gamer in your eyes?! (Love the vid and your reviews btw)
you have a good point. i guess maybe 'obsessive gamer' is a better term. she loves gaming, obviously, but it's not a major hobby for her, just a fun activity. she never reads boardgamegeek, doesn't pay attention to what games are coming out soon, doesn't really pay attention who designed the game (except for a few cases), etc.
***** The same is true with my wife. She loves playing with me and I think she has become a gamer by now but she does not go an extra mile to research about games and probably wouldn't admit that she is a gamer (but she is!)
Yes Seattle!!!!!! That's not only where I was born and raised, but where I want to return to live. I have lived in various places across the US, China, and traveled to many other countries, and I can't believe how privileged I was to live and grow up in Seattle. I believe it's the greatest place in the whole world.
Wow. Confusion sounds fascinating. Speaking of Stratego, I still have my 40 year old copy of Admirals (which is a naval themed Stratego). The Clue-like aspect of deducing your pieces powers during play sounds really cool.
+rahdo Didn't know that! Do you still visit Seattle? I would highly recommend visiting Mox Boarding House in Bellevue next time you're in town (if you haven't already.)
Yay, more Jen! One thing though: This Top 10 video doesn't actually list any of Jen's top 10 games. Can't wait for the actual list. Though I have to say, with so many gems appearing in this video, I'm kinda scratching my head at what could be left. I'm guessing Escape will make an appearance, but beyond that, I have no idea.
do you have a video on the different categories of board games? for example, builder games. I'm trying to choose from these. would u consider pandemic (which we have), shadows over Camelot, and dead of winter one type?
"Lords of Waterdeep is... Game of Thrones the Boardgame." Someone, somewhere in the world is having a thundering, fatal, organ-rupturing seizure from the gravity of this statement.
She hit the mark! Good job to Jen. Fun reviews. I am going to watch this again with my wife. There might be a couple games that we would be interested in.
Thanks for sharing. Thanks for being brave in front of a camera for a bit, Jen. :) I used to be very shy, but now that I'm in my 50s, I've become less shy! I love Europe, too, including the UK -- I've visited there. Anyway, I'm a native born and raised Texan who's been living in the Seattle area for more than 30 years. Seattle really is beautiful. Greetings from this part of the world! :) Are you two from Washington state? I read on your profile that you met at Univ. of Washington. I moved here in 1985.
jen grew up in eastern washington and went to Udub. i grew up in northern california up till 14 and then the puget sound area (belfair) and also went to Udub. We did meet in German 102, started dating, got married, and the lived in Burien until our late 20's, whereupon we moved to eastern Oregon, then Texas, then England, and now Malta :)
Interesting! I grew up in Texas, went to college in California, then moved to the Seattle area in 1985 and met my hubby here. Also, I spent 6 months in Germany and studied German in college, too! We visited England back in 1990. I'm surprised that Malta is an affordabe place to live there (your profile stated). Do you or Jen speak German or any other language fluently?
nope, just english. back in college, we probably got good enough at german as a young child (well, I probably did... jen really struggled with the language) but now, neither of us remember much at all :)
Hi Rahdo... i know this is an old video, but still, i just wanted to mention that there is a decent Coop Ruleset for Dixit in Gameboard Geek. It's NOT as fun as the original ruleset, but it's still an interesting way of playing it. I do sometimes play it with my wife which is also a huge fan of Dixit.
Can anybody tell me what game is between Thermopalye and Trollhalla behind rahdo on his left? Has a grey box with a black border with white, red, blue, and yellow circles on it.
And while I'm here I would just like to say Rahdo is now a category in my family budget. :) These videos are great and have turned me on to some incredible games.
Awesome - thanks Jen! It would be great to know what is it about each game that *Jen* actually likes. It might not be anything specific but if there is it would be good to mention it.
it's pretty unlikely. jen hated doing it the first time, and it would be even tough for her to remember everything now than it was 5 or 6 years ago because we've played over 1000 games since then
I get to be comment #100! This list is very far from my top 10 list, but I think that's why I enjoyed watching it. (A lot of the differences are due to the fact I've never played a lot of these.)
I watched both of Jen's favorites in search for games that my wife could get into too ;) I asked someone else about playing Galaxy Trucker with 2p and he wasn't sure. So I'm guessing it's actually fine with 2p then since it's mentioned here ? :)
galaxy trucker works GREAT with 2... doesn't suffer at all for the lower player count. maybe your friend was thinking of Space Alert, from the same designer, which does NOT work well with two (imo) :)
Many of those games are considered "heavy" or "strategic". Its interesting how good design/ good theme seems to trump the casual v.s. heavy divide for your spouse. Am i rigth ?
my top ten from france : 1. les chateaux de bourgogne 2. la havane 3. lords of xidit 4. l'âge de pierre 5. dungeon twister 6. abyss 7. les aventuriers du rail 8. hive 9. mr jack pocket 10. 7 wonders duel
regarding Last Will. I see where the expansion is available for sale, but the original game does not seem to be in print. The one's on Amazon are "collector" priced. Have you any knowledge on acquiring the original game without paying a fortune for it? And tell your wife she had a fine selection of games and should not be too camera shy. Thanks
it's not that hard to get in europe. if you go to boardgamegeek, you'll see a bunch of people selling their copies for around 30 euros... I just did a quick check and saw someone willing to ship world wide for another 15 euro on top of that, so that might be a reasonable way to go?
i have made that mistake several times in the past (i don't know what's wrong with my brain... i'm aware of the the reality, but it keeps coming out of my brain wrong) :)

Richard and Jen's runthroughs are my favourite ones. Entertaining, fun and informative, love the zany style it's great! Also a nice wide range of games covered. Thanks Richard and Jen!
No one explains games better then Richard, awesome vid, love seeing Jen involved!

jen.rahdo.com :)
+rahdo just wanted to tell you that your vids are the best on the web for seeing if ud like to get a board game!! iv decided to get half my games after watching you and now my sister (we both recently got into modern board games) found these top ten vids and she has gone out and got tzolkin, keyflower, augustus (already huge agricola fans) and is currently looking for dreagon petz! so just wanted to say thank you
Cannot wait to see the actual Top 10. Many of the also-loved would not have made my list, either. The range of genres you and Jen like are amazing.
My most anticipated list of 2014! Thank you!
Thanks Jen! Really enjoyed your "also loved" list. You & Richard are adorable together. Much love and many blesses.
I have really enjoyed this video, thanks Rahdo and Jen! I'm always looking for games which works well with two because most of the time I play with my wife. GREAT LIST. Old but gold!
She does exist!

Thanks Jen, awesome list - you rock! Can't wait for Part 2!
"You'll get the top ten, but first I have to do the sixteen runners-up." Clearly, he has learned the art of compromise.
I would love to see a runthrough of Tobago! I bought it for my husband for Christmas and we have yet to get it to the table.
And... she's real. :)
That makes me happy.
Thank you for your time.
Looking at all those old school games on the shelf is giving my senses a nostalgia tidal wave!

Pretty lady!
Thanks for the list. I laughed out loud at a couple points. Great job guys.
I love Jen, she is soooo FUN! I watched this video a few times throughout the months. Hope to see here more in 2015 -->
Wow. Confusion sounds fascinating. Speaking of Stratego, I still have my 40 year old copy of Admirals (which is a naval themed Stratego). The Clue-like aspect of deducing your pieces powers during play sounds really cool.
+Jeff Rainwater nope, we live in Malta now (spent our 20's in Seattle though)
+rahdo Didn't know that! Do you still visit Seattle? I would highly recommend visiting Mox Boarding House in Bellevue next time you're in town (if you haven't already.)
+admiralbullshit i do try to get back to Seattle whenever possible!
jen is so present and influent in rahdo's runthrought that she even need to appear and play in the videos
When do we get the beagle's top 10? :D
Yay, more Jen!
One thing though: This Top 10 video doesn't actually list any of Jen's top 10 games. Can't wait for the actual list. I have always liked your videos and hope you keep making them
Dixit would be in my top 10 too. Great choice :D I always like to pick things that relate to people... like, "the inner workings of Rahdo's mind"...
Lots of good picks. Troyes and Suburbia is in my own personal top 10.
I just love you guys! You are so adorable!
"Lords of Waterdeep is... Game of Thrones the Boardgame."

Rahdo, you and your wife have such an awesome relationship:)
I am wondering... is there an on-line store to view some of Jen's glass figures?
AlphaGator9 yup, you can find her at www.jenefer.net (there's a link to her ETSY site there) :)
***** Excellent. Thanks. :)
Escape will be number one, right? I've bought it two months ago and man, this game is just fun in a box. So simple and amazing.
The more I play Tobago, the more I like it. For me, it's the diversion experience Tokaido was meant to be. I just relax so nicely into it.
Hi Rahdo... i know this is an old video, but still, i just wanted to mention that there is a decent Coop Ruleset for Dixit in Gameboard Geek. Awesome - thanks Jen! It would be great to know what is it about each game that *Jen* actually likes. It might not be anything specific but if there is it would be good to mention it.
Are there any updates? Will you revisit this list any time soon?
it's pretty unlikely. jen hated doing it the first time, and it would be even tough for her to remember everything now than it was 5 or 6 years ago because we've played over 1000 games since then
you're awesome Jen
As a jeweller, and a decent two player, surprised Splendor isn't there :)
Would Jen be making an updated "Jen Top 10 Favorite" list? Keep up the good work!
probably not any time soon, and she finds that to be pretty painful to spend the time to figure it all out
I get to be comment #100! This list is very far from my top 10 list, but I think that's why I enjoyed watching it. (A lot of the differences are due to the fact I've never played a lot of these.)
Cool, just ran across this video.. watching it now. Curious what her favorite games are! :) Love all you videos.

your game store got a nice collection of games
IT'S JEN!
Many of those games are considered "heavy" or "strategic".
Its interesting how good design/ good theme seems to trump the casual v.s. heavy divide for your spouse. Am i rigth ?
well I think you'll get a pretty good idea when you see Jen's top 10 how our tastes really lean :)
my top ten from france :
1. les chateaux de bourgogne
2. la havane
3. lords of xidit
4. l'âge de pierre
5. dungeon twister
6. abyss
7. les aventuriers du rail
8. hive
9. mr jack pocket
10. 7 wonders duel
any chance u be doing a runthrough on k2 ???
yeah i will eventually, it just hasn't gotten enough votes to get pushed higher in priority
Whoops made that comment before I watched enough - Jen, interject often!!
You mentioned Seattle. Are you in the Seattle area?!?! I am! I would love to game with you!!!
wasn't the Great Fire of London in 1666?
aargh, yes of course... 1888 wasn't that long ago! note added :)
It would be great to have links of these games to your videos of them in the description.
+H Karimi yup, but tbh i'm just too lazy :(
+rahdo don't worry, I can find them. spend your precious time making more videos.
A rare Jen sighting!!
Awesome, thanks for sharing your top 10 Jen. it is hard to find the opinion of other women (regarding games) in the internet. Thumbs up!
well done Jen!
regarding Last Will.
Thank you, I will look for it.
After watching this, I had and was lucky to come across a used copy of Among the Stars ! :) Now can't wait to play with fiancee ;-)
Just because I'm a 17th Century nut (and an unashamed pedant), the Great Fire was in 1666 not 1888 buddy ;)
i have made that mistake several times in the past (i don't know what's wrong with my brain... i'm aware of the the reality, but it keeps coming out of my brain wrong) :)
I think there's a game called London: 1888? Not played it myself but maybe you have and that's the reason? ;)
Omg Jenn exists?! She's real!
faq.rahdo.com for more
Jan is just lovely :)
She seems nice
That is when she's not shouting at him for saying the wrong thing, haha

So gosh darn cute it hurt my heart! These two are cuties
5 years late, but Jen is soooooo cute :)
Wait, she is a real human? The more you know!
3:15 - 3:42 This is why you never work with amateurs folks: They don't know about editing suites like Vegas....
:P
+ROOKTABULA i choose not to edit because i don't like the extra work. 'one and done' is my motto
Tons of is on table top simulator last I checked
I love you two
No one wants to be king Geoffrey....
yeah, that was not the best example. i should have probably referenced ned stark or little finger instead :)
When is Rahdo gonna do top 100?
+Straddllw probably never. you can always see my top 300 or so right here: games.rahdo.com
***** Unrelated but since Pandemic is so high on your list, are you going to play Pandemic Legacy? It looks amazing.
+Straddllw yup, about half way through it now. won't film until i've finished it though...
Seattle >
Hehe, I thought Radho had put her in the fridge or something :P
plenty more where this came from: jen.rahdo.com :)
rahdo Wish I was your neighbour :-)
your wife is very pretty :)
+don'targuewithme i won't argue with you! :)
She is actually hot, no disrespect!
I thought Jen was his imaginary wife..😃
