      I have been listening to your serious interviews from the beginning. However lately you are not interviewing any person of interest. Only comedians. You are comedians. You might be interested many of the people I know who listen are not. I am less than a third way in, and I've heard the "F" word more times than I've heard in my life. More times in a sentence than a year. I'm not a prude but nor am I a ten year old boy in the school yard who thinks it's hilarious. I have been instrumental in promoting you to serious political, social, and academic podcast listeners in Australia. We take it you don't want us anymore. You've become insipid and lazy. If you want to host comedians, I suggest you do so in your raw segment, which we never listened to anyway.

      PS you guys have never been the least bit Funny by Australian standards. We all grew up with Rodney Rude. Mull of Kintyre, sang as Moll of Kings Cross (prostitute district) how much for a root ( Australian slang for sex) etc was hilarious. Even millennials liked it. Good humour mocks degeneracy. Modern humour mocks decent people. Every bloke at the pub can tell a better joke than the politically correct crap you guys think is funny.

    Where is this going, if we ban jokes? Comedy legend Robin Williams was on tour of Germany, before he died. He was being interviewed by a DJ, who asked him in a thick German accent: "Haff you noticed there are not much goot Germany comedy? Hwhy is that?" Robin paused and replied: "Perhaps you killed all the funny people?"

    The term "cancel culture" just doesn't underline the _vindictive_ aspect of the ideology. We are creating a society of "denouncers". There are people who are "whistleblowers" and do it for the greater good of society and then there are folks who denounce because they are insecure or failures in search of glory.

    • @icarusjumped2719

    • @cosmicmauve
      @cosmicmauve 2 роки тому +2

      @@icarusjumped2719 That was my meaning behind "insecure and failure", you are right, jealousy is at the root of a lot of this. Some people might even be successful on a work level but there is something on a deep rooted personal level where they feel inadequate and instead of taking it to the source, they go global. The other thing I reflected on was regarding the denouncer/whistleblower dynamic, the good guys are the ones who know they have a lot to lose and do it anyway, think Assange and Snowden, the other kind are cowards disguised as: freedom fighters. I don't know, call them what you want but it is more self serving I think.

      The obsession with woke or "cancel culture" is so tedious. I can't remember anyone actually being cancelled, Comedians seem to recently obsess over it, and if anything it's a fucking marketing term. This isn't new. In the 80s Comedians used to market their latest VHS with the line that it's 'too blue to broadcast'. It's marketing.

    I respect what Francis is saying about comedians needing 10 years to hone their craft, but I disagree with the generalisation that it is a necessity. Sometimes there are comedians out there who are total naturals who are just as funny down the pub as on the stage and whilst experience will of course help them develop over time, it doesn't mean that they can't command most rooms after only a couple of years. Also, on the point that Stade makes about generational backlash and how comedy will reset eventually, I am in total agreement. I predict that the 2030s will be very different because all of the youngsters that rebel against censorship now, will be the dominant voice in the culture by then.

    • @icarusjumped2719
      @icarusjumped2719 2 роки тому +2

      I really REALLY hope so too. Im told the young teens are already pushing back against the woke bs and it seems that traditional values are becoming the new "punk" if you will. I love it. I just hope it continues

      @@icarusjumped2719 I'm not personally on the side of traditional values. Whilst I think traditions and history are a vital component of culture, I believe progressivism is the natural evolution of life. If you're not moving forwards then you're moving backwards. HOWEVER, I am a strong opponent against anything that resembles a soviet-like state where speech and thoughts are policed. On the topic of young people; when you break it down it actually makes perfect sense. When I was in school, I watched art house films, grew my hair long, wore baggy clothes and listened to "alternative" music because I had a natural inclination towards rejecting the mainstream. Punk was a fringe movement until the mainstream realised there was money to be made from it so logically if rejecting wokeness is the new punk, it will eventually become the mainstream too and then the reset will begin.

    • @icarusjumped2719
      @icarusjumped2719 2 роки тому

      @@kind-hearted-thievesjoe1512 while agree with most of that sentiment, i disagree that "progressivism" is a natural evolution. Its a marxist ideology cloaked in "nice" sounding ideals. Not to mention that i think progress for progress' sake is just as dangerous as cultural stagnation. If not more so. When you follow these things to their logical extremes, death and destruction on crazy scales are very often what happens. And us humans cannot seem to help ourselves but do just that, to the extremes, every time.

    French movie "Flashback" is an entire comedy about rape, and is brilliant. The French seem to hate it, which guarantees it's worth watching. Dickens "A Christmas Carol" meets "Peggy Sue Got Married".

    Reality tv was the start of cancel culture. We gave non talented people exposure and gave them status by exploiting their lives. These 'stars'' were ripe for comedy and as reality tv became more so did the jokes. You can't exploit their stars lives and do offensive jokes about them.

    AFAIK, laughter in humans is a evolutionary holdover from primate signaling of fear and danger. The things that evoke surprise and pain are funniest. Some one should tell these woke scolds that comedians are necessary to warn the human tribe to pay attention, and silencing them will allow the giant predator in the grass below to eat us all.

      @@grannyannie2948 Unsubscribe then. Two comedians doing a podcast and you are surprised that they interview comedians? Not just that, but two comedians who were blacklisted for not reciting the doctrine of the woke cult. It shouldnt come as a shock that they interview some comedians that have similar beliefs.
