      @@Londoncycleroutes it’s a bit awkward from the town centre, from the cutty sark you go through the university and down a couple of side streets but excellent once you get to the proper segregated cycle path on trafalgar road. It takes you to the woolwich ferry. From there you can either go along the river on the south side to Erith or take the ferry over the river to the greenway and onto Stratford.

    There is a link to Burgess Park. After the filter between Chaucer Drive and Oxley Close, take the first right. Cross the main road (there’s an odd bit of protected lane on the path) and then take a right onto Cooper’s Road. Turn left onto Mawbey Place and right onto Mawbey Road. You can then cross Old Kent Road with cycle traffic lights onto Glengall Road. From here you have two options to get to Burgess Park: one, turn right onto Glengall Terrace which takes you directly into Burgess Park; or two, further up Glengall Road there is a right turn which takes you to the north end of the Surrey Canal Linear Park and onto Peckham. I used to use this route to commute into central London from Forest Hill, and it was always full of cyclists.

      oh interesting, I just checked this bit out on Google Maps and it looks alright, if a bit complicated - I wasn't aware it was there. It would be ace to just be able to go straight down a filtered Rowcross Street I still reckon though. Cycle zebra over Roll Rd, filter on Rowcross, cycle lights crossing over Old Kent Road and a short stretch of on-pavement cycleway to the entrance of the park

    Hi, The streets you mentions Stevenson Cresent, Stubbs Drive and Rossetti Road are not named after Millwall Players. We had a Stephenson, but alas not honoured such. Rossetti was Dante Gabriel Rossetti a painter and member of The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, who married Elizabeth Siddal and lived in the area.
    BTW: Found an excellent route from Bromley South to link up to this route in Depford. Mostly along The Pool River Path and linking up with The Ravensbourne River path.

      @@Londoncycleroutes I stopped at cs3 next to lambeth hill next to castle baynad street, about to turn right with signalling with my hands, and then a scooter rear ended me with quite some velocity. I went flying from my bike and onto the floor, and the scooter driver started swearing at me for not signalling, and I got mad at him because I had clearly signalled. I was very dizzy and was cut and bruised on quite a number of places, but thankfully, the bike was fine and the helmet I had on was a lifesaver. I've left the bike still at the workplace, but will need to bring it back, and I will take the route from chancery lane to blackfriars and go to greenwich from there hopefully.
      To be honest, its a blessing in disguise as I did think the cs3 route from city to greenwich (via isle of dogs and greenwich tunnel) was a bit dull to look at while cycling, and this makes it more scenic. Love your videos - sorely underrated and needs more views

    I love these longer videos! What do you think about the rebranding of cycle routes into Cycleways? I like the concept of a consistent name but I worry that it will lead to distrust in the system because not all routes are equal in quality, directness and pleasantness.

    • @Londoncycleroutes
      @Londoncycleroutes  3 роки тому +7

      Yeah that’s a good objection to it - despite normally having strong opinions about this stuff I can see good and bad to changing it. Quiet ways in particular I think we’re attractive as a brand to new cyclists but in the end it’s true that Quietway had segregated lanes (as in this video) and CSH had stretches on quiet streets (eg CS1). I do think getting rid of the CSH brand was good though as opponents can make it out to be a literal superhighway smashing through a neighbourhood or whatever (which obviously couldn’t be further from the truth)

    • @jackshears2043
      @jackshears2043 3 роки тому +6

      @@Londoncycleroutes I think that’s a good judgment. The Superhighways brand needed to go, especially as CS7 is nowhere near the quality of CS3 or 6. My concerns with rebranding the quiet ways is some of them are too indirect and certain boroughs use that as an excuse to not build segregated lanes on main roads and just do back street routes when in reality we need a mixture of both

    Great video. However for the last bit it's a lot easier to turn left on Norman Road after the alleyway then right onto Tarves way, which takes you through another filter onto Straightsmouth without needing to dismount and go through the barriers and the DLR.
    The new route from Greenwich to Charlton should be opening soon for those who want to head further east on protected tracks. Unfortunately there's not really any easy link between that route and the start of the quietway.
