I liked the subtlety of the ending. Looking back, One Day was a bit on the nose.

Oh, I liked One Day! Interesting what looking back can do though, isn't it? Plenty of novels I've read and loved may not have the same impact on me now, I know. And yes, I agree that this is a subtler novel all round, which I'm sure will appeal to many people.
