I grew up on Bainbridge Island in Puget Sound. We waited for the school bus in a little tent in the woods. This is the sound and look of what we went through as we walked up to the bus stop. Yes, Susan! Love this... I know because I work really hard mixing my rain (and other) audio for my channel at 5:00am when the world's quiet and asleep. Getting the best sound takes time. Merry Christmas to you! -S
It's nice to think there are places like this all over the world, where nature is just existing peacefully and doesn't need anyone to look at it. Well, we are looking at this one, but it's still a nice reminder. Thank you for making this video!
This is now my favourite go to video .. not just for the perfect balance of rain sound to lull off to sleep (some are too loud, in some the rain is very very heavy and the volume ridiculously loud (but of course you can always turn it down, but still the heavy sound doesn't lull me to sleep .. but maybe I am the only one?) and some of the videos are just lovely with their sounds but there is nothing to .. the only way I can describe it is that they don't 'quieten my spirit'. I know it sounds silly, but most days I find I am just bombarded .. ALL my senses, but especially through sound and SIGHT .. and not in a good way. So .. when I finally found this video/recording, I clicked on it expecting one or the other .. good pictures OR good recording or crap everything .. BUT .. I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was this the perfect 'rain sound' I had been searching for (no thunder, not too heavy and not too light, etc) but as I watched the pictures, I realised they were actually VIDEO clips and I started to relax and started letting go of all the ugly unnecessary and mainly unwanted crap I had taken in during the day and found myself being lulled to sleep. I know I know .. enough with the rabbiting on. So on that note, I will say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the gift of not just the video and sound recording, but also the precious gift of sleeeeeep.
Thank you all for so many great and positive comments, It's unbelivable to see how many people can find such a simple video so interesting. I'm not the only one who sees the beauty in nature and simplicity.

As the rain fell there was a refreshing within that.. thinking about how just as sins could be washed away and a renewed understanding could be had.. the rain also washed away the leaves on the ground.. revealing a lost coin in the muddied ground.. picking it up he held it out and allowed the water to wash the mud away.. with a smile he held onto that coin.. though not rich in value.. it represented a greater meaning to him. He was a sentimental man at heart.. walking further along he came into a clearing.. this reminded him of his own heart and mind.. much like a man who has realised he has no need for the material world and worry about possessions.. there were things he himself had begun to let go of within his heart and mind.. no longer allowing those things to posses either heart or mind.. They talk of haunted areas but he knew that a man could be haunted by his own past.. but the clearing of the old to allow the new was much like the wineskin that Jesus spoke of.. removing the impurities.. didn't mean forgetting the past.. but no longer allowing it to hold him in that place he once was.. instead thinking upon the more positive memories and he did have many of those.. and wanted to allow room for new memories that had a much healthier right to be within.. he knew he couldn't change the past.. but at least now he appreciated it more for without it he wouldn't be here in this moment.. with the symbolic coin in hand washed from its dirt and grime.. still a little battered and worn in places.. yet it showed that it had its own history.. it had faced its own struggles.. it too had been through some rough times.. yet like he was in the here and now. Maybe he would still a hole in it and thread some leather or chain through it.. wear it close to his heart as a reminder of this moment. He looked up at the rocks around him.. they too showed signs of wear and tear.. yet in some places so smooth to the touch of his hand. He wondered what their history was.. for where they laid it seem some had fallen from other areas.. though not where they once were he saw how they had created a new home and still served a purpose to those with eyes to see.. for some had become shelter to the animals.. some had made natural paths and stepping stones.. allowing him to climb for a better view of the surroundings.. they hadn't lost their beauty to him.. they were still strong and unmoving in their position. He thought about the foundation of rock and it made sense with the strength of foundation that Jesus spoke of. For a rock was often very thick and heavy.. not able to be shifted even with the strength of man or many men.. yet God himself could cause the foundation of earth itself to tremble and shake.. throwing those large rocks as if skimming stones.. He thought about how God spoke about those who carved images from stone to worship them.. he couldn't help but laugh a little.. touching the great rock again feeling it's strength the coldness within without the sun to heat it up he appreciated the fact that the human heart could be very RELIGIOUS like that.. without God to keep that heart warm and full of life.. it could indeed become like the rock.. how he loved that God could explain the human heart in such ways that did indeed make logical sense.. when brought back to an earthly example.. that visually showed the reality of what God spoke of.. for if God was everywhere.. why did he have to confine himself to a church building.. why did he have to wear clothes that made him feel foreign to himself to please... Who? It didn't impress God.. for he was more interested in the inner heart. How he felt so much closer to God when in God's creation.. seeing the wonder of his mind.. looking at all the creative ability.. the diversity of each thing he made.. the smells, the atmosphere, the visuals, the animals.. why even his own body and ability to see and experience.. it uplifted his spirits in all the right ways.. God of the heavens and the earth.. cared enough for him to desire to know his thoughts and feelings.. that was quite an amazing revelation and understanding.. that though he may fall at times just as easily as he could slip in the mud.. he could indeed get back up again.. brush himself off.. acknowledge maybe that wasn't such a wise path to take.. but now I am wiser for it so I don't condemn myself.. because I learned from my experience... This was why he stayed away from the RELIGIOUS.. they would have said he deserved to be at the bottom of the ravine for having a moment of bad judgement.. which is normal human behaviour.. for fucks sake their sheer arrogance is unbelievable..

There's a place one of many I'm sure in Scotland, it's an ancient place, with stone walls and stairs carved in the rockface that lead to a forest floor and a trickling Byrne. Up above though is a natural rock pool, a round pool in solid stone. It's a deeply spiritual place and churches have been built here one after the other going way back even before the celts. It's called Dunino and it's magical and mystical and this reminds me of it.

People who live in the Pacific NW might vote it down simply because we have too much rain. . . After four or five months if this, you want SUN! And in case you've ever wondered, trees only need 20 to 50" of water/precipitation a year to thrive. Here in Oregon, moss grows in trees, eventually killing some. Too much rain. Your reasons are your own, but I respectfully disagree! It rains near-on daily in England but I welcome it with open arms!
