My number one top is telling more people about you. I'm good in excel, but I learn a lot from you. I knew about the first tip. But I counter it can also be a feature when using filters. You can turn on and off data without losing the whole chart. This is really valuable when looking for trends in XY plots. Now if you have a tip for preventing the chart from being resized...? The second tip is awesome. I always cut and paste the chart to snap it to a cell. And I use snap to grid all the time in PowerPoint, so duh, it's obvious now, but thank you. The third tip I always have to relearn when I copy and paste a chart somewhere else and objects don't come with it. Errrr! Even when you've clicked a chart it's easy to click off it.
I felt like I knew most of the options in Excel. But whenever I watch your videos, it shows a new tip and makes me realise that there's so much more to learn.
Snap to grid is new to me, as well as the stop the disappearing chart. Thank you.... a precious lesson, as always. I really love these short tips as it's something I can apply immediately to my daily usage. Thank you again.
Hi there! I knew Tip no 1&2 but 3 is quite useful. I was wandering if you could help me. I have two line charts (the intermingling type not one top of the other) and I want to draw vertical lines between each line charts for each data points. The drop lines go all the way down to the x axis; but I want the drop line to remain point to point. And I want data labels for this gap lines too. Is there a way to do this im excel 2007 or above. Plz help!. E.g. Plz imagine this as vertical line between two points in two line charts. ¤-----¤. 2.5------4.7 So I want the gap 2.2 displayed as well. Thanks in advance!
All three are very good, I wish I had known the first one before. However better late than never. Thank you very much Leila for all these amazing videos. I am learning a lot with these. Million thanks. 😊
All three tips were known to me, but still it was a great fun to revisit. One tip I want to add is the following - If we want to move a chart by selecting and then pressing keyboard's arrow keys, it doesn't work. But if we press control and then select the chart and then press the arrow key, it works. (I'm completely depending on my memory here, as am not in front of my PC)
Thank you Sandip! Yes that' a great tip too. Microsoft has included this in Excel 2016, 365 subscription. You no longer need to hold down the control key. Just click the chart and move with the arrow keys. For older versions though your memory is right. The control key is needed. Many thanks for sharing.
Your videos are just great.. I click the Like button before starting the video just to get it out of the way because I know I will have to do it.. thanks for your hard work.. you make Excel fun
I like to keep my spreadsheets clean and use grouping a lot. However, I had lots of issues with disappearing charts because of that. THANK YOU for this tip!
Thank you as always, number 1 tip was something I´ve always been annoyed about but never bothered to google - so you saved the day for me, great tip. :)
Wow This is great!!!!! you are amazing and an ocean of knowledge. I have being using excel for ever and I feel I'm just scratching the surface. please, keep posting your videos. Thank you so much.
The first tip solved one of my chronic helper column problem. I used helpers in few charts and later want to hide helpers. But hiding column make it disappear from chart as shown in video. I used to change the font color of helper cells to white :) Feeling stupid now!
Glad you find them useful. It took me some time to find the un-snapping one.... when we were trying to figure out why the ALT key wasn't working for one person at a training.
Miss Leila, I have been using excel for quite sometime, but have learned by baptism by fire. I am impressed with the amount of knowledge and abilities that you share while working with this program. Because of the self training that I have done I have missed a lot of the termanology the you use and the different steps that scaffold you through excel. I would like to be much more knowledgeable in this program, could you please recommend a starting point so I might refresh and learn more. I am humbled to start at the beginning if need be. Thanks in advance for your help Tim
Hi Tim - As you've used Excel for some time, I'd recommend an Excel Advanced training - something that fills in the gaps. I have a top 10 tips and 10 formulas training that takes you through tips that you might have missed. The link to the course is in the description of the video. If you'd like to learn from the beginning - Mike from ExcelIsFun UA-cam channel has a great Excel basics playlist. Have fun learning :)
