Late I know but the engineaudio_ng uses a different code from engineaudio (which was used in ps2 and gameboy version of nfs ps and in all versions of nfs carbon, most wanted 2005) so it's not possible to force the straight cut gears sound to work without the stage 4 upgrades in nfs ps and undercover. Since world uses a different upgrade system Blackbox forgot to include the straight cut gears sound at higher upgrades. There is no way to add that to world currently even though it's possible.
And try to remove the turbo charger. I know you have less power but the actual race car is naturally aspirated and in pro street it does change the sound a bit.
Well as you said the gearbox whine does not appear all the time or can suddenly disappear. My problem was that the gearbox whine was not available at all. So i reinstalled the game started a career, completed the first race, used unlock all things and bought a evo and fitted a stage 4 gearbox. I just wanted to make sure if there is a whine on other cars. i tested it and there was a whine. Then i bought a m3 and installed a stage 4 gearbox. Tested it and found that the gearbox whine is also there. After that i installed the m3 gtr bodykid mod and edited audio properties (as you did). I went ingame and tried the mitsubishi again. Gearbox was still whining. Then i tried the m3 and voilà it worked. I did the mitsubishi thing after the mod installation cause i thought that you should give the game a go with a car where you know that its sound works so that it maybe can "load" the new sounds in the backround ...or so :D
TheNFSRocket Can I ask one more thing, I tried input UNLOCKALLTHINGS in the code entry and it says invalid. Typing in prono requires EA nation and I don't think thats available anymore.
Unlockallthings only works with older versions of NFS Pro Street. I think when you installen a update and/or a booster pack, the code does not work anymore.
TheNFSRocket thats disappointing. NFS VLTED needed an up to date version to work. And now that my saves have connected to the updated version, I cant go back unless I restart everything. EDIT: Plus restarting means I have to redo all of the vinyls I already made for the m3.

yes you need stage 4 gearbox. You can use the cheatcode "unlockallthings" to get it

Not quite. When you look into the dealership there is still the normel M3, and you "transform" it to a GTR by installing Bodykit/Wing etc.
