I see a few years have gone by since you made this video. Just going to take it apart as I have that exact same leak on the velvet just above my knee. Gives me eyes of what to expect when I take it apart. Thanks from the rainy west coast of Canada
Thanks Shane!!!!!! I have been getting soaked for over 5 years when it has rained. Go around a corner and down it comes. Coffee cup holders half full etc..... Took it a window place and they blew out the vents. Stopped for one storm then came back. No time to really spend on it so I just dealt with it the best way. So today after a rain storm I said enough is enough. Got the air hose and blew down the passenger side..... lots of air passing through. Not for the driver's side. So tried a double wrapped piece of mechanics wire and it would take all 4 feet of it but still no air passing down to the bottom. Then I thought lets try Google. Watched your video and had it fixed it twenty minutes. Can't express how much I appreciate you posting your video.
Thank you. I believe I have the same problem with the detachment. Everyone else tells about clearing the clog in the hose with air compressor but nobody else mentions the detachment. Thanks for sharing. We all can help each other by saying solutions to problems.
Thanks for that, I have same issue and body shops prices are expensive, I thought I will have to open the whole headline, thanks to you I will try fix it my self right away
THANKS! I have the same explorer and after going through a car wash a few weeks ago this started happening to me too! I can fix it on my own with no fear now.
Thanks for posting. I was kinda wondering where to start and actually made a video about the leak while I was driving so I could send it to a friend and show him the issue (uploaded here actually, so didn't have to over compress the file). I think this is the exact issue I'm having.
glad to hear. I tried to pressure blow it and a few other things, but didn't work. it felt good to get up in there and figure out what the problem was. Thanks for letting me know.
Brian, great question. When I bought it, it had the leak. So I don't think that I blew it apart. But the previous owner may have. I have hurt some people having success getting those drain tubes blown out. so that's kind of weird
@@neubianxdefinitely it's very common for people to connect a blow gun to a 150psi compressor and pull the trigger causing the lines to blow apart while packing the dirt and crap tighter in the tube.
One suggestion for anyone blowing air through the drain tube is to turn the air compressors psi down to 20 or use something like a air canister that is used for CPU until the air starts blowing through then you can run water down it and raise the psi to flush the tube out
02 explorer I get soaked but only in a car wash, driving or in rain it’s fine…. But definitely thanks for posting I’m going to remove 4 bolts holding sunroof in and see if I get air from point a to point b Sunroof also hasn’t worked since I got the car and when I got it none of the windows worked and 2 were stuck down for 2 years in the rain….. I replaced the seats, 3 window regulators and I got one to Start working.
Thanks. Learned that there is a tube but did not learn how to take it all apart. For instructional videos, focus on how to take apart and not about getting wet or about your daughter. Just trying to be constructive critic. Thanks you again.
Hey bud I have an 05 with only 110k but it leaks into the passenger door well from the sun roof. Think this is the same issue? Honestly thinking of just siliconing it shut at this point
I have same problem at my ford ex03! When I wash my car in automatically box, I hear some waterfall behind front windshield frame cover! Momenly put-off plastic cover, (!!captain, we had a hole in the side), the water flowed like a tap, thank the gods I had a half-empty canister in the trunk, I quickly climbed over and began to collect water until the washing process stopped. That's my funny wet story!
Shane, did you have to remove any of the center assembly that holds the front dome lights/moon roof control/garage door buttons or were you able to reconnect the tube without doing so? I am hoping it is only the visor and plastic arm near windshield. (I believe I have the same issue with my 2003 Explorer except on the passenger side.)
Colton Janes . pretty easy. no center console removal necessary. I was able to pull down enough to get to without breaking anything. really kinda easy, and I'm not a repair/ fix it kinda guy. Good luck 😆
I tried going from the bottom and the top on mine and on both sides it would get stuck at a certain point and not go all the way through. Not sure what to do now.
Michael Greenwaldt sounds like you might actually have a clogged hose, mine only just came apart from the connector at the top of the car very close to where is the sunroof is. not sure what to do if it's clogged up. Except in that case you might take an air compressor and get up underneath of the upholstery mouldings and blow the hose directly instead of through the connector piece. I hate that you're still having problems that's so frustrating.

So what was the fix

I'm going to try this right now. We are set for heavy rains this week. His disruption is exactly like what I've been dealing with for months!!!
This exactly what is happiness to my 2002 Ford Explore. Awesome, thank you
Very informative, and great examples for where everything is. Thank you for making this video!!
This is exactly What has happened to my 03 explorer. Thank you.
Thanks for that, I have same issue and body shops prices are expensive, I thought I will have to open the whole headline, thanks to you I will try fix it my self right away
Good video and insight! Having the same issue on my Ford Explorer 2003! Good job on the video but next time with out the music .
THANKS! I have the same explorer and after going through a car wash a few weeks ago this started happening to me too! I can fix it on my own with no fear now.
Got that same crack going through my tailgate Ford logo.
Thank you this was a great help. Took half hour and fixed my Explorer sun roof leak. cheers.

Do you think the applying air pressure was what caused the disconnect?

Hello
Thanks for great video.
How does the front portion of the headliner go back together nicely? Do you need to glue etc?
Got mine fixed! You were right, once I figured out how to pull things out it was easy!
Any pointers.

I think this is exactly what has happened to my 2005 Explorer. How do I get to the male/female hose connection?
Cheers bro mines doing the same thing il plug em back up.
Thanks. Learned that there is a tube but did not learn how to take it all apart. For instructional videos, focus on how to take apart and not about getting wet or about your daughter. Just trying to be constructive critic. Thanks you again.
Thank you buddy 👍
Thank you I have found my problem. I own 2004 Ford Explorer mine is doing the same thing. Hopefully I can get this fixed soon.
Super helpful video, Thanks!!
It was very helpful

I need to know how to get that piller trim with the handle off. Any advice?

Shane Pollard Good to hear. I'll find out tomorrow how this all will pan out. Thanks for the video, set me a little more at ease ha.
thank you great info
I SEE YOU HAVE THE DREADED CRACK IN YOUR TAILGATE!😢 YOU CANT GET BEHIND ONE OF THESE WITHOUT SEEING AT LEAST ONE CRACK!😢
Same exact problem in my of 05
This doesn't explain how to remove everything
I'll never understand why they run those drain lines in 2+ pieces
Thanks
