I remember sending in a “recipe” I made up in the hopes that it would make it on the show… Basically “mix peanut butter and chocolate chips together, put it in the freezer, and then eat it.” It was the most creative thing I could come up with. They never got around to putting in into the show, unfortunately.
mine was weird. I remember mixing cheese spread and ketchup, and my intention was, because the cheese is too salty for me, I'm gonna mix it with a not salty sauce.
I remember a girl got featured on Zoom for making comics about a girl and her flamingo. That inspired me to draw comics when I was little. I went to an art college and a bunch of my friends knew exactly the same episode. Maybe it inspired them, too. Now I work in animation and totally credit Zoom for getting me started.
As a young child, I used to count time in “Zoom episodes.” On long car trips, my parents would say “We are three episodes of Zoom away.” This is a real thing from my life.
I LOVED, and still do, long road trips. My parents never had issues with me or my brothers when we went on vacations. In fact, they would put us in the car and we would just drive around with no destination in mind just to get out!
@@wintermoon7003 That's so sweet... It's fun to go on road trips. My husband and I moved a lot so we were on the road a good bit, so now my daughter loves staying in hotels and going on long trips (as long as she knows it's long trip, otherwise she'll complain the drive is taking too long, haha)
@@tinntinnamp Oh wow! Lol, that's too funny! When I couldn't sleep my mom would have to take me out for a drive, even as a little baby, to get me to sleep as that was the only way I would!
Everytime I see anything made with latex, my mind immediately says "Zoey from Zoom can't touch that because she's allergic". That one episode where she could only watch/referee a game involving latex balloons really got a grip on my brain and hasn't let go. It's a core memory, idk.
Thanks For bringing this back! There was a zoom episode where they made these candy mice, using candy cherries, a hershey's kiss, almonds and frosting. My mom watched it with me and we made them for Christmas. It became a tradition we did every year. Well when i became an adult i continued making them out of tradition. My mom passed away in January of this year, and Im going to continue this tradition. You really sent me down memory lane. Thank you.
One thing I'll never ever forget about the show was that Zoe was allergic to latex. She always had to remind us that she couldn't participate in anything that had to do with balloons lol
Zoom was the Pinterest for us 90s kids...and was totally underrated. Also, Did anyone get confused when everyone first started using zoom video calls? "Zoom?! oh I love that show!" LOL
Whenever Scott used the word "Zoomers" in this video I got super confused lol. After years of hearing it in a completely different context it was strange to remember I heard it a lot as a kid! All the zoomers are actually millenials.
for those of you wondering, during the hair dryer part scott said: "the other day i downloaded this game called lawnmower simulator, and i'm kind of addicted to it."
As a PBS kid I loved this show! Fetch with Ruff Ruffman was another one of my favorites. I just loved shows with kids being creative and playing games, doing crafts, and solving challenges. We need more shows for kids like that again!
Original Zoom watcher here. And yes, it was the one thing I was crazy for on TV. The reboot happened when my husband worked for PBS. Happy to hear that it made a positive impression on you. ❤️
Yes, I also watched the original back in the 1970s. The show was great, but the cast kept repeating the address to send ideas so often that I still remember it: Zoom, Box 350, Boston Mass. 02134. Did the internet era remake use a web or email address instead?
@@azbz9075 Indelibly burned into my brain, is that cadence of "0⬆ 2⬇ 1⬆ 3⬇ 4⬆! Send it to Zoom!" So, there was... sort of an email address. The revival asked for "E-mail / or Z-mail," but while the Z-mail was the classic readout of the street address, as far as email, viewers were told (as it also appeared on screen) "Send it to Zoom! (To who?) / Triple-'W,' dot, P-B-S, dot, org!" Which I don't remember _ever_ being a way you could send an email. (I'm assuming there was something like a "Contact Us" on their website, but for all I know, maybe it was an AOL thing? That old restricted ecosystem did sometimes lead to some weird directions on live tv shows and in commercials.)
@@TheNinjapancake14 hey are you talking about my reboot Zoomer's from season 3 they are very nice to everyone I hope they have a new show Zoomer's very soon?😘😍😀🤩😘😴
I'm surprised they didn't make another revamp for the current generation, that would've been awesome! And yeah, that would've been PERFECT for the pandemic. Give kids stuff to do at home and all.
A children's museum near us had a "Zoom Discovery Center" exhibit growing up, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that my siblings and I BEGGED our parents to take us for weeks. When we finally did go, it was like we were going to Disney with how excited we all felt. It ended up just being a bunch of hands on science activities and crafts from the show, but as a kid it was amazing! Big "core memory" moment right there
My friend Taylor (whom I met as an adult) was a cast member on the show and it's really interesting to hear her talk about her time there. She remembers loving her co-stars and producers, but also being sad when she was recast after a couple of seasons.
i grew up with PBS kids too, and honestly Arthur and Word Girl were my two favs I remember Word Girl had a resurgence recently, and ppl agreed the show was more entertaining than educational, they managed to integrate education rly well
Woah! It's Joel Haver! Hurry up on the next animation! Just kidding! I love your live action content too. Your animations are a national treasure though. Keep up the good work!
I was totally all about pbs but I never heard about zoom. I was all about cyber chase, ruff ruffman, and between the lions. I recently showed between the lions to my younger sister and she absolutely loved it. Almost as much as when I showed my younger siblings rolie polie olie. Old kids shows were the best.
Fetch with Ruff Ruffman was fire. I recently rewatched the first season and I personally feel like they should attempt to reboot it, maybe even film outside of Boston lol
Dude as a kid I wanted to be on Fetch With Ruff Riffman sssoooo bad. In my mind, you got to be on TV, on fun adventures doing cool sciencey stuff, no school (probably not the reality of the situation), and you get cool random prizes.
@@RedWingedBlackbird Yeah I'm remember watch reboot Zoom on pbs kids when I was a little and I'm remember see the reboot Zoomer's all grown up and that I'm want to be a Zoomer when I'm grow up someday ❤🎉😊❤
i remember in my city this show started at 3:30 and i got out of school at 3:20 and i would RUN SO FAST home to make it in time and not miss anything. such a great show.
Fun fact: my dad loved watching Zoom with me, and we would sometimes speak ubbi dubbi talk with each other. The funniest times were when we were on vacation or something, and be talking complete gibberish with each other to annoy my mom, and she wouldn't believe we could understand each other (which most of the time we weren't even actually saying anything) and on the spot we would come up with a story about what we were talking about. Good times man. Good times.
As someone whose dream job all through elementary school was to become a "Zoomer", it makes me so happy to see this show get the limelight it deserves. Caroline was my first crush as a kid, and I was so excited to see her on nearly every season. It was far and away my favorite TV show growing up and I still have fond memories looking back at it today.
I definitely had a thing for Caroline watching zoom as a young lad 😆 I don't think I understood crushes at that age but definitely looked forward to seeing her LOL
I also loved this show as a kid...I have a memory of asking my mom to film me while I pretended to be Zoe (from Zoom) making a snowman from cotton balls. It's such a pleasant memory that it physically hurts to think about. U know what I mean
Zoom was literally every 90s kids childhood! I loved how the kids did everything themselves, was always so inspiring but the theme song always got me hooked every time! Who else also loved Magic School Bus? I watched a new ep of Solar Opposites yesterday and they reference the Magic School Bus and I was so excited and happy!
I was extremely terrified of motherboard from cyberchase and the teletubbi sun baby. You just unlocked those repressed memories- thanks Scott. I always loved Zoom growing up and wanted to be Caroline because we have the same name. Big up Zoom 🤘🏼
This is embarrassing. But as a young adult during those years, I only ever had local television. I was going to college at the time, so I couldn't afford satellite or cable, nor did I really need it. The internet was enough to keep me entertained. Still, I always loved PBS for its documentaries, so I'd usually just use the television as background noise while I was studying. As a result, I absorbed A LOT of PBS Kids shows. I think Wordgirl was my favorite, but Arthur was a close second. Zoom was probably third.
The more I watch Scott Cramer the more I realize that we had basically the same childhood. Zoom was my freaking JAM growing up! I remember asking my mom to help us make legit everything we saw on that show haha so good!
OMG Out of the Box was amazing! It was so good and I still know the theme song and "good-bye" song by heart. I still catch myself drumming that beat or doing that hand-clap randomly. It was such a good show!
This was a pretty cool video, I love seeing people talk about nostalgic topics. Zoom was a little bit before my time though, but I grew up with Fetch with Ruff Ruffman and Electric Company so I think I turned out alright.
This show was one of the most impactful things in my life. The fact that Kaleigh played the saxophone made me fall in love with it, and that wound up being the instrument I chose going into middle school band a couple years later. Now, fast forward 20+ years, I am a middle school band teacher and it all started with Zoom. Thanks for this video, Scott.
Zoom was one of the very few live action non-puppet-based shows I could enjoy watching as a kid, and so few people talk about it that there were times I'd fear it didn't actually exist.
Why would you fear that? Internet has existed for the longest and you can easily search zoom kids show, whatever channel even if you remembered. People are so weird
This show was always my favorite growing up and I genuinely wouldn't be who I am without it. When Kyle went backstage at Wicked for a segment, I became infatuated with Wicked and my mom got me the album as a present later that year. The album came with a booklet of all the lyrics. And I kid you not, that little booklet helped me learn to read. I was using words like "elixir" at the age of 4 because of that album and I wouldn't have even gotten it if it weren't for zoom
I was an art education major for a bit, and we had a couple of teaching experiences that we had to make the example for, and one was the silhouette project. We learned that the people tracing should be in pairs because the model would naturally sway and it would take a lot longer to wait for them to get back in position as you went.
I'm 31 and I will always hold zoom in my heart (along with many pbs shows) it was my dream to send them something so I could watch them do it on TV!😄 I think this show really helps with crital thinking along with creative thinking. Alchemy at its finest and simplest🧡😊 RIP Jared he will be missed
@@ScottCramer when you said how your brother can tell you the number of letters in a sentence and you and an example of “the Vikings are going to the Super Bowl “ then said it’s 32 letters, did you know that already or is it just in your blood lol
And let's not forget the outro song when they sung their address to a catchy tune. I might not always remember my own zip code, but I'll always remember the zip code to Boston, Mass: 02134. Also, Kenny was absolutely the coolest. He inspired me to learn juggling. Makes you wonder whatever happend to all these kids we grew up with and if they realize how big a part they played on our childhoods.
This video should have been an hour long. As a PBS kid I loved zoom and really enjoyed you embodying your childhood. It helped me remember and feel nostalgia. I wouldn't be opposed to a part 2. I also loved Dragonfly TV and hope you might have too.
This is such a wholesome video. As someone who grew up being an ESL student who also didn’t have cable PBS and Zoom made an impact on my life too. I remember watching episodes being so interested even when I didn’t fully understand what was being said. I can say it backed up my interest in learning and helped nurture my curiosity all while helping me learn English.
You need to know that Zoom was my FAVORITE show. I had the biggest crush on Garrett. When Facebook became a thing, I found Garrett and messaged him. This was like 2007 or 2008. He blocked me... but I still consider that a win because I know he saw the message. 🥹 Garrett, if you read this, I'm not creepy I swear.
"Hey you guuuuuuys!" One of my favorite shows from PBS was the Electric Company, I always thought it was the original show since I was a kid. I didn't realize until later that it was based on the show from the 1970's with the same name. And let me tell ya, the theme song was and still is a banger
I know I watched this show a lot as a kid, but I could never remember much of anything from the show other than the theme - but when you showed the clip with the ping pong ball and hairdryer the vivid memory of my sister and I doing that as a kid after seeing them do it on Zoom came back to me lol
Scott this feels like an evolution of the scott-i-verse. I love the chaotic sketch show style of this video. It feels like you're in your element here and that really makes me smile! You're amazing. keep it up, proud of you.
FREAKIN. FINALLY. I bring this show up whenever I talk about nostalgic things and NOBODY REMEMBERS IT OR HAS EVEN HEARD ABOUT IT. I felt like I've been gaslit for years or like this show only came on in my state or whatever. Thank you for talking about it, love your stuff man.
One on my most distinct childhood memory was trying out the zoom segment where they created a contraption to turn the bedroom light on and off while still in bed with string, straws, and tape. I still have a way to do that today, but now that contraption is called Alexa. I kinda prefer the zoom way
I remember that. I also remember when they got paper and bent strips and mounted them on the wall and ladder and such and had marbles go down. Man i did this so hard down the stairs. Made loops and at the end a ramp for them to shoot off into a container. It was sick lol
The segment that sticks in my head the most, besides the Arthur/Zoom crossover, is the science experiment where they test what surfaces water can run down, I guess? They compared something smooth to something fibrous like rope and found that it runs down your arm really well because it’s a combination of both. I didn’t realize how much this show still affects my life until now. Tonight I went out for a burger and grabbed an ice cube from my cup and rubbed it in my hands to melt it and clean the sauce off. It’s from a game on the show where the kids race to melt an ice cube! Some of my favorite bits in other pbs shows were my favorite because they reminded me of zoom, like cyberchase for real, and the Arthur segments. Harry and Bianca were so cool to me, and I remember watching Arthur bits like the creator teaching you to draw characters, a segment where blind kids make cookies at school, and I still remember the difference between the less-than and greater-than symbols because of an Arthur clip where a kid’s nickname in class was Less-than-ewis because his name was Lewis, and the less-than sign faces the same direction as an L. And holy crap, I just remembered Spork and Foon! I’m gonna be up all night looking at pbs clips. What have you done to me, Scott…
I remembered watching Zoom when I was younger, but i didn’t realize I watched it as much as I did. Because I remembered every single scene you showed and referenced 😭
I loved Zoom as a kid and I remember on their official website you could put in your name and print out a little certificate saying you were a Zoomer like the kids in the show, I for sure confused my brothers when I told them "Well, I'm a Zoomer now"! I remember the science game where they had long strings and poured water at the top and raced the water to the bottom...
Scott you having a blast trying out stuff with pure child like joy is making this the most wholesome video. I completely forgot how my childhood was shaped by Zoom. It's why I love science and what got me to start baking. They also had a part where you could mail suggestions for things to do and I think I sent a letter once a week. What a blast from the past. Also my brother could speak the kids zoom language thing and annoyed everyone with it. It was banned in my house at some point iirc lol
Yes! This was one of the best shows PBS has ever made! PBS really should bring this back. They did have a zoomer reunion not too long ago so I don't see why not.
@@vykanismajoris7984 I've been trying for the past half hour but my comments keep getting deleted for some reason but to find the reunion just search wgbh zoom into action, there should be a playlist that has the reunion livestreams that wgbh held back in 2020 with the 70s and 90s zoomers. It also includes some new videos that the zoomers filmed where they make some of the stuff they made back on the show. It's actually pretty cool.
The Zoom Playhouse segments had an absolute chokehold on me and my sisters. We used to constantly go on the Zoom website, find a script we liked, print it out, and force our parents to watch us perform it. And I very distinctly remember busting out some of the science experiments they did for class projects too
I love that we grew up around the same time and about the same way. Can very much relate with all of this. Zoom came on after Cyber Chase, but my mom hated the theme song so much that she didnt let us watch it. missed out on a gem
I've never heard of this show cause I'm not from the US. But I agree, these selfmake art and science shows were the best. I loved ArtAttack and Fingertips as a kid!
This show was also a huge part of my childhood since I too grew up without cable. One segment that would occasionally come up was “Zoom Chat” and I forget if it’s the same as the “Fan mail” segment. Anyway, I recall that sometimes they would tackle topics that were a bit more serious, such as parents going through divorces, racism and other similar topics. This show really had a lot to offer for kids
Yes!! I loved this show so much!! No one around me remembers it. I was a homeschooled Christian kid with no cable TV, so we watched the heck out of PBS.
I watched the ones they played in the 2000s, like Arthur, Cyberchase, Word girl, Martha speaks, Clifford & Puppy Days (original version), Wild Kratts, Super why, Dinosaur train, Word world (if that was on pbs...not entirely sure), Sesame street, Curious George, I barely watched Fetch, but I remember it, Rollie pollie Ollie, Angelina Ballerina, Thomas the Tank Engine, And then some others like: The Magic School Bus, The big comfy couch (I watched it afterwards, but it apparently played on pbs..same thing with Sagwa and Maya and Miguel..the theme song is engraved in my memory-), JJ the Jetplane, Noddy, Dragon tales, Shining Time Station, Barney, The Electric Company (I just know the logo), Teletubbies, Pocoyo, Kidsongs (w/ the biggles), Theodore Tugboat...there's probably more I also watched some of the newer shows
Dude I watched so many of those. I think when Word World came out I was considered to be kinda too old for it but it was a secret guilty pleasure show. I still watch shows that I'm "too old for" now that I'm 20.
@@starsiadraws Yepp, I totally get what you're saying...childhood shows are just amazing 😌 and you can never be too old for them (I am a tad bit younger, but I'm technically also in the "too old to watch kid shows" range..tbh the fact that people made a range for that kind of stuff is a bit sad)
@@starsiadraws Plus there's just so much nostalgia and reflection that come with them...and you can also learn things that wouldn't be put on shows that are meant for older audiences Whenever I talk about childhood shows with people, they're all like, "you watched that too?! .o." and it's something to connect with :"3
I remember watching Curious George, WordGirl, and Martha Speaks as background noise sometimes in my high school/college years those shows are so witty, and nostalgic even though there were after my time.
I remember doing a water drop experiment from zoom, you'd put a penny on top of a cup upside-down, and see how many drops of water you could put on the coin until it spilled over. It was surprisingly a lot more than you'd think because of surface tension.
I used to love Zoom as a kid! It's been 20 years and I will still say "Boston, Mass 🎶0-2-1-3-4🎶 send it to ZOOM!" for no reason.. Like Scott, I too had no cable until my teens, and these shows were a staple of my childhood. My mom will bring up things that I did as a kid and I don't remember them, then I watch a video like this and it all comes rushing back! Great memories!
I was searching for a comment about this. No one ever knows wth I'm talking about whenever anything asks me to fill in my zip code and I start singing "0-2-1-3-4" 😅
I used Zoom for multiple science fair experiments in elementary school. I also remember an episode where they made calzones, and I begged my mom to make them. Easily one of my favorite foods because of this show.
My brothers and I also grew up without cable and absolutely loved PBS and Zoom. I remember they had this chip recipe on zoom where they took Tostitos chips with pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese (it’s different than nachos I swear) and then microwaved it and we were absolute amazed by it. Today we still make it and only refer to it as “the recipe”.
Zoom was an amazing show. I do think we zoomers think differently. I appreciate how they just let the kids figure it out. We often underestimate our kids' abilities. This is a good reminder that I need to have my kids watch this show.
When I was 4, I sent in a recipe: "Roll wonderbread into a dough ball and dip it in strawberry milk powder." I was insane. It had been off the air for years.
I always loved how Zoom started in the 70's, so my mom remembers watching it, and then I also have memories watching it myself. I will never not have the urge to sing the theme song whenever the word "zoom" is mentioned, like some kind of Pavlovian response.
I actually really appreciate you saying this is "enriching & wholesome for your kids", bc I just had a son. 😊 I'm going to note this down!! He's only 9 months old, but like they say, it's flying by. 😳 Also I had to immediately like the video when at 9:00 you unlocked that doorway trick memory for me! 🤣🤣 omg, I'd forgotten all about that! Your vids are so wholesome 🥺 all while being genuinely funny. Thanks, Scott! 😁 (also a fellow VBS kid 😂🙏🏻)
Definitely track down episodes of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood for your son too! I don't remember there being much in the way of activities for children to do, but there's nothing wrong with a show where a softspoken man learns how crayons are made, or speaks frankly but kindly about the death of a pet, or speaks to a boy who uses an electric wheelchair in a normal way - not like "oh we should treat people like this with sympathy because it's so sad", but also not in a way that completely ignores the obvious impairment the boy has.
Core memory unlocked! Thanks for reminding me of this treasure! And I was SUPER impressed to see you had the Zoom shirt btw. As for content creators in the 800-900K views range. Brutalmoose is around there. His videos usually range from 400-500K to 1-2M depending on the type of content.
Omg...instant nostalgia. I watched zoom daily. I had a picture of Kenny in my Lisa Frank purse, and i said he was my boyfriend who lived in my old state when I moved. 😅
Seeing this is bringing back forgotten memories. Ubbi dubbi, the tornado in bottles, the dumb peanut butter celery with raisins, and my favorite: the one at 13:51 where you put a bunch of stuff in a bowl (all I can remember is pepper) and when you put your finger in, everything is pushed to the sides. I watched this at daycare all the time and sometimes after finishing the episode we would go do some of the experiments. I definitely feel like Zoom had a huge impact on me without fully remembering why until now
A few fun facts on this series: Caroline & Kenny guest starred in an Arthur segment One zoomer name Taylor (from the last season), was on Fetch w/Ruff Ruffman season 1. It was another show on PBS In one episode of Big Bang Theory, while Leonard & Sheldon wer speaking klingon, Penny & Amy were speaking ubbi dubbi
When you mentioned cliff hanger, it brought back a memory I didn't know I had. I haven't heard that name since I was a kid and just watched a clip of him. I was not disappointed
Scott, you make my childhood feel not that far away. The strugglr community feels like my childhood rec center I'd go to after school. I loved that place. Thank you!
I loved the re-runs of this show oh my goodness. I remember once they showed how to make cinnamon sugar toast, and I was like, not everyone knows about cinnamon sugar toast???
My family didn't have cable when I was a kid. I loved going to my grandparents' homes and watching the Nickelodeon shows like Legends of the Hidden Temple and Wild and Crazy Kids. But PBS was definitely a big staple when I was at home.
I have the exact same memory of this show! My mom would buy a box of frozen soft pretzels, and we'd microwave them right after school and watch PBS Kids together.
I was a PBS kid that LOVED Zoom. When I was like 6 or 7, some of the Zoom kids hosted an event at the children's museum and me + my sister got to go and make crafts with them!! It was awesome, one of the highlights of my childhood
I LOVED zoom as a kid. I would make the recipes and try the crafts. I always thought the kids were so cool and wanted to be them. They were the “big kids.” Edit: I had cable lol
I"M SO GLAD ZOOM IS GETTING THE LOVE IT DESERVES!!! I always ask people about this show and hardly anyone has heard of it and it makes me so sad. Thanks for this feel good video lol
Zoom was my jam! I vividly remember seeing the episode where they talked about music theater. I am pretty sure seeing STOMP and Wicked on the TV as a kid is what made me choose theater over sports!!
I grew up with cable, and while I loved nickelodeon, cartoon network, and a good amount of the disney channel, I always would go back to PBS even as I got older in to my teens, I would still sometimes go back and watch an episode of Arthur, Zaboomafoo, Zoom, Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman, Cyberchase, and probably more I can't think of right now. PBS was awesome and I'm glad to think of it as part of my childhood.

Yes, I also watched the original back in the 1970s. The show was great, but the cast kept repeating the address to send ideas so often that I still remember it: Zoom, Box 350, Boston Mass. 02134.
Did the internet era remake use a web or email address instead?
@@azbz9075 Have you ever seen Jim Henson’s Animal Jam?
@@azbz9075 Indelibly burned into my brain, is that cadence of "0⬆ 2⬇ 1⬆ 3⬇ 4⬆! Send it to Zoom!"
So, there was... sort of an email address.
@@azbz9075 Oh my gosh, that address is burned into my memory. It STILL gets stuck in my head sometimes!
Zoom is one of the shows I will always remember from my childhood. I wanted to be a zoom kid so badly.
PBS should bring this show back, imagine Zoom during the peak of the pandemic
Lol maybe we should just make a fan show. Zoom for Zillenials
The zoomers would eat that up
Imagine Zoom for Zoomers lol
@@TheNinjapancake14 hey are you talking about my reboot Zoomer's from season 3 they are very nice to everyone I hope they have a new show Zoomer's very soon?😘😍😀🤩😘😴
I'm surprised they didn't make another revamp for the current generation, that would've been awesome! And yeah, that would've been PERFECT for the pandemic. Give kids stuff to do at home and all.
I grew up mostly without cable, and Zoom was EVERYTHING.
@@Ezekiel.T Did you watch the video?
Same here
@@domtillou3492 yes
Same! Probably outing my age here but my classic PBS favorites were Wishbone and Kratts Creatures.
I grew up with cable and Zoom was everything
A children's museum near us had a "Zoom Discovery Center" exhibit growing up, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that my siblings and I BEGGED our parents to take us for weeks. When we finally did go, it was like we were going to Disney with how excited we all felt. It ended up just being a bunch of hands on science activities and crafts from the show, but as a kid it was amazing! Big "core memory" moment right there
I went to a children's museum that had this too as a kid on a trip with my parents! It was so fun! I wonder if it was the same one. It was awesome
As a kid my parents would take me and my sister to a children’s science center all the time, I still remember many moments of it vividly.
This was me and OMSI in Portland. As a kid I couldn't get enough of that place, I thought it was the coolest shit ever and I suck at science.
I went to that too! It was in Boston!
I like how one guy just assumed it was their local museum...
My friend Taylor (whom I met as an adult) was a cast member on the show and it's really interesting to hear her talk about her time there. She remembers loving her co-stars and producers, but also being sad when she was recast after a couple of seasons.
Wow, neat. I was just wondering what the cast was doing now and what they felt about their time there. I'm so happy she enjoyed it.
bro Taylor was on the last season
i grew up with PBS kids too, and honestly Arthur and Word Girl were my two favs
I remember Word Girl had a resurgence recently, and ppl agreed the show was more entertaining than educational, they managed to integrate education rly well
what about Odd Squad?
@@channel45853 as yes. MY FUCKING CHILDHOOD WAS ODD SQUAD AND WORDGIRL.
I rewatched WordGirl recently, and I never realised as a kid how hilarious it was at times. The humour was on point.
This video was lovely, very nostalgic! Thanks Scott❤️
All the MA kids watched Zoom, they filmed around Boston!
I agree Joel, thank you Scott 🙂
Joel you're a treasure
I'm still waiting in this dudes driveway where the hell did you go man
Rollie pollie ollieee...have you watched the Big Comfy couch? That one was pretty good
Dude as a kid I wanted to be on Fetch With Ruff Riffman sssoooo bad. In my mind, you got to be on TV, on fun adventures doing cool sciencey stuff, no school (probably not the reality of the situation), and you get cool random prizes.
I loved all those shows.
Fetch replaced Zoom, from what I remember.
The Rube Goldberg segments were my favorite from this show!
I remember the PBS website had free flash games you could play and the Rube Goldberg was my favourite.
@@RedWingedBlackbird Yeah! You can still find that game online if you search for it

i remember in my city this show started at 3:30 and i got out of school at 3:20 and i would RUN SO FAST home to make it in time and not miss anything. such a great show.
Good times.
core memory: unlocked
As someone whose dream job all through elementary school was to become a "Zoomer", it makes me so happy to see this show get the limelight it deserves. Caroline was my first crush as a kid, and I was so excited to see her on nearly every season. It was far and away my favorite TV show growing up and I still have fond memories looking back at it today.
Couldn’t agree more.
With everything you said 😆
I definitely had a thing for Caroline watching zoom as a young lad 😆 I don't think I understood crushes at that age but definitely looked forward to seeing her LOL
I remember when I was about 4 or 5 watching Zoom and when I first saw Caroline, I thought I met my wife 😂😂 She was always my favorite
@krowdhc Queen Caroline gettin' that dough!
Honestly this is more fun to watch as an adult than a kid. I don’t think I appreciated how wholesome it was!
That’s based as fuck
Word up
@@jakefit4life From the planet "Lexicon"

The Arthur theme song is on my playlist, it’s totally under rated!!!!
Why is that embarrassing?
This show was literally life after school. This and Arthur. I always loved when they’d say “like so” when they’d explain something.
I love watching Scott Cramer relive his childhood
The more I watch Scott Cramer the more I realize that we had basically the same childhood. Zoom was my freaking JAM growing up! I remember asking my mom to help us make legit everything we saw on that show haha so good!
This reminds me of "Out of the Box" on Disney. I'd write down the craft projects and recreate the episodes. THEATRICALLY.
Those shows were my jam! I remember seeing Zoom but not actually watching it though (if that makes since)
This show was one of the most impactful things in my life. The fact that Kaleigh played the saxophone made me fall in love with it, and that wound up being the instrument I chose going into middle school band a couple years later. Now, fast forward 20+ years, I am a middle school band teacher and it all started with Zoom. Thanks for this video, Scott.
This might be the most nostalgic, wholesome, heartwarming Scott Cramer video I've seen. Love what you do man.
@@tinntinnamp tbf a lot of people who watched pbs didn’t have cable, I think it’s safe to say they didn’t have internet either
My strongest memory of this show is the Red Bench skit. The repetition of “watchya doin?” “sittin on a red bench” lives in my head rent free
Holy crap you've unlocked the door to my brain

I’m Canadian, but sometimes online I need to enter a US zip code. Zoom’s the reason I always go with OH TWO ONE THREE FOUR!

HOW DO IT STILL REMEMBER THAT?!?!
They did an 50th anniversary panel a few months ago (yes, Zoom debuted in 1972!), and they said the address no longer exists. Bummer.
I loved that show! I think it’s funny that Lin Manuel Miranda was on that show
I know I watched this show a lot as a kid, but I could never remember much of anything from the show other than the theme - but when you showed the clip with the ping pong ball and hairdryer the vivid memory of my sister and I doing that as a kid after seeing them do it on Zoom came back to me lol
The 'in the field' segment was just way funnier than I expected it to be
Scott this feels like an evolution of the scott-i-verse. I love the chaotic sketch show style of this video. It feels like you're in your element here and that really makes me smile! You're amazing. keep it up, proud of you.
Scott is loving every second of this video and I love that for him. He seems so full of childish glee and it’s delightful.
FREAKIN.
Huh? I never saw this show and often clean my hands with ice cubes. Is it not common sense water cleans hands And that ice cubes melt?
I remember that water one! I think they each picked different types of rope and raced to see who could get the most into a pitcher
The blind kids making cookies is a core memory for me too!

This show was also a huge part of my childhood since I too grew up without cable. One segment that would occasionally come up was “Zoom Chat” and I forget if it’s the same as the “Fan mail” segment.

OMG YESSS😭😭😭😭 i forgot that zoom is where that came from! I’ve been randomly saying this for like 30 years now and forgot what it was lol
My brother and I still randomly say, BOSTON MASS! We watched it that much. Season 3 for sure was the main time we watched it.
I used Zoom for multiple science fair experiments in elementary school. I also remember an episode where they made calzones, and I begged my mom to make them. Easily one of my favorite foods because of this show.
Let’s GOOO! This show was amazing and I begged my parents to send them mail. I wanted to be on this show SO badly
Same, it was a dream to be on the show!
I used to pretend I was BFFs with these kids. Glad to see so many people remember this show so fondly! It was a blast!!!
I wish I could like this video a million times. Seriously this was the most wholesome nostalgia trip I didn’t know I needed
By the way, my dad only allowed me to do that "recipe" once. Never again.
Also I had to immediately like the video when at 9:00 you unlocked that doorway trick memory for me!
I also recommend “Fetch with ruff ruff man”, it’s a very good show, it’s educational and entertaining! (It also features an animated dog!)
Core memory unlocked! Thanks for reminding me of this treasure! And I was SUPER impressed to see you had the Zoom shirt btw.

I definitely feel like Zoom had a huge impact on me without fully remembering why until now
The pure delight on his face when he tries the hairdryer and ball 😂
A few fun facts on this series:
Caroline & Kenny guest starred in an Arthur segment
One zoomer name Taylor (from the last season), was on Fetch w/Ruff Ruffman season 1. It was another show on PBS
In one episode of Big Bang Theory, while Leonard & Sheldon wer speaking klingon, Penny & Amy were speaking ubbi dubbi
Thank you!

My family didn't have cable when I was a kid. I loved going to my grandparents' homes and watching the Nickelodeon shows like Legends of the Hidden Temple and Wild and Crazy Kids. But PBS was definitely a big staple when I was at home.
This was me.
I was obsessed with this show. I remember coming home every day and watching it at 3pm while I ate a microwave soft pretzel.
They were the “big kids.”
Edit: I had cable lol

I"M SO GLAD ZOOM IS GETTING THE LOVE IT DESERVES!!! I always ask people about this show and hardly anyone has heard of it and it makes me so sad. Thanks for this feel good video lol
Zoom was my jam! I vividly remember seeing the episode where they talked about music theater. I am pretty sure seeing STOMP and Wicked on the TV as a kid is what made me choose theater over sports!!
In Australia we had/have 'Backyard science' which was a very similar sort of thing, and it still remains integral to my understanding of life itself.
One of my earliest childhood memories was telling this girl at school that Zoom was my favorite show and she hadn’t heard of it so she just decided a made it up and told everyone that I made up a tv show. It’s nice to know I am not the only one who remembers this show because I genuinely started to think I was making it up
Shit I think I put it as my favorite show once and no one knew what I was talking about because I was apparently the only poor kid with no cable.
