Take the cleaned onions. Top and tail them. Sprinkle salt on them. After around 3 hours wash them and pat dry. Now transfer them to a jar. And add hot pickling juice which contains vinegar and water in in 2:1 ratio. Add salt as per taste. Sugar must be added to balance the sourness of vinegar. Beetroot is optional. You can add spices like mustard seeds, coriander seeds, bay leaf, clove etc optionally. Store in Mason jars with pressure canning method to have shelf life of 9 to 12 months.
Never heard of such rubbish such as adding mustard ,coriander etcwhy spoil and complicate something so simple and nice as described by Kunal -Made it exactly as Kunal said and it was just perfect today after 2 days

I’ve seen pickled onions before and they look good, but I’ve never tried them cause I’m worried about wasting ingredients if I don’t enjoy it or find someone that wants it. What’s the flavor like? I already love the taste of onion and I’ve had pickle bell pepper so I do enjoy some pickled vegetables. Onions have a very distinct taste though and I have no idea what they would taste like pickled.

Can anyone tell me if he used the same vinegar at the end or fresh vinegar, while putting everything in the jar? There are so many other recipes on the internet, rather complex ones on this....but this turned out to be the simplest, tastiest and the most authentic....❤️❤️❤️❤️ Ever since i saw it, i hav made it multiple times for the family....now they seem to be addicted to it😂

Thank you for this recipe. I picked up these baby onions from an Indian grocery store yesterday without realizing the intensive labor efforts needed to peel these so-called pearls. This recipe was not a part of my meal plan. I accidentally pulled myself into this project. The final result turned out to be worth my time.😅
