I am moving back to Brum (well Sutton Coldfield) after 32 years in Devon away from my homeland. No matter what anybody says, I can compare the City as it was in the 1970s to what it is today and I AM IMPRESSED!! hence why I am returning, yes it has areas that are not so good like any city in the world but it always did have, many areas are way better than when I left school, I love the city centre and for me ULEZ was a brilliant idea, Gas St. Basin is now great, the old scary underpasses are all gone and the Jewelry quarter and Digbeth as well as Curzon St area have been incorporated into the city centre brilliantly, there are alot of great things about Brum which people who have always lived there take for granted. If all goes well I should be back by August 2024
Aston is a very deprived area. Once larger than Birmingham itself with it's own Manor, now a dump with barely any funding. The area has one of the highest unemployment rates in the whole of the UK. Aston going into town isn't bad but the main road, Witton Road, is dire. The people make it difficult too but there is no opportunity there at all. It's all rotting. It's time we started creating skyscrapers outside of the city centre instead of tower blocks. Also, the Newtown area needs redevelopment too.
Why are people obsessed with having more skyscrapers than Manchester ? There are 1000s of cities with skylines full of skyscrapers and apart from the two original high rise cities New York and Chicago not one of them are considered a desirable destination because of it. Birmingham city centre is now a great place to spend time and they haven't finished yet, wait until the Curzon street area is developed, HS2 is up and running and Birmingham becomes a quicker commute into central London than Surrey.
Can you stop making Manchester look so good. I was up Manchester a couple of weeks ago and their skyline looks amazing .Show some ambition and build some towers over 200metres.
Well If you look closely it is the Salford Skyline you are looking at mostly not Manchester, the City Of Birmingham Skyline is fantastic and this video does not show it, but there are more tall buildings in Brum under construction now including in centenary square the tallest building outside of London is being constructed
Bro high towers doesn't make the city look good Stop talking about high towers it's talking about opportunities for the city people can get jobs there is way more people from other countries come to Birmingham then Manchester cause the is alot of jobs and opportunities in Birmingham

Birmingham is lacking skyscrapers,it needs these to make a real statement to the world. It needs to look at London and Manchester for inspiration.
Try looking at the whole City Centre, there are at least 15 high rise buildings including the two highest Council Flats at Horse Fair
Birmingham city centre is a second largest city
Its Second shithole city full of divisions and crime , poverty and big drugs issue.
More bar restaurant and club in Birmingham
