Chris, I am always amazed at the trivia you share! I figure I know most of the trivia of Disney, but then you come up with all of this! You truly have a great eye when looking at things. The newspaper, the billboard, etc. I notice them but walk on by. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
This is the earliest that I've ever showed up on one of your videos! Who else is early?
Thanks for the fun facts and supportive words.
Thank you!! We love you and your content!!!
That was really cool stuff about the statue. A fun story about Oswald for me. When my oldest nephew was little, he loved watching me play Epic Mickey. When the second one came out, he saw it at the store and asked my brother's wife to get it. When she said no, he pleaded, "But Uncle Justin really needs it." Such a good memory.
Mortimer was the name of the mouse Walt found in the woods behind Laughagram Studios in Kansas City, MO before going to California. It was Mortimer, Oswald and then Mortimer (Mickey).
Really appreciate you. That ending got me! Thanks for making my night a little bit better ❤
I just love history!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, very interesting 😊 from Ohio🇺🇸
Storytelling is my passion. This statue is so important to me. Every time I met DCA I give a little salute to Walt and Mickey. Now I'll always think of you showing marvelous details can never noticed and love 💓 Thank you for her positive vibes, Chris. You are a master storyteller 😃
Fun Fact: I graduated from a high school in *Santa Fe Springs.* I always knew about the *Santa Fe Railroad,* pretty funny that both were Santa Fe's. Totally agree about Oswald being the *Partner's Statue* but it would really cool if they included both (Mickey and Oswald).
Chris, thanks for those heartwarming messages in all your videos. For some of us that’s just what we need to hear to get us through the rough patches in our lives.
I have taken countless pictures with this statue and never noticed all of these details. Thanks Chris!
Thanks friend , from your custodial buddy !
Chris, thank you
That was amazing I never knew there was so much packed in the statue.
Thank you so much I learned a lot today.
Love learning new Disney facts! Thanks!
Thanks Chris, fantastic video. After several visits to Disney California the billboard of the train stops and the relation with Walt's statue, his shoe, the stamps at the suitcase, Eye Works are totally new for me. Greetings from Mexico and a petition derived from your video about favorite sounds: a video about favorite planters or small gardens.
I agree with your timeline, but the creation of Mickey was where his success came from. Oswald was a stepping stone for sure, but like Walt said ‘around here we keep moving forward.’ Had Walt chosen to dwell on his failure there would never have been a Mickey. Sometimes failure can define us, and sometimes failure can define your path to success. It’s all about the perspective.
Fantastic video! I had no idea the statue was so detailed 🤯
The Al Michaels-Oswald trade is one of my favorite entertainment industry stories ever.
If the suitcase is from when he first moved, that would be before Oswald too! There’s another character. Julius the cat! He was from the Alice Comedies! There’s a store named after Julius in California adventure!
I had no idea those secrets were there on the statue! Thanks for teaching me. That’s why I tune into your videos; I become an even bigger Disney fan. Thanks Chris.
Oswald was created in 1927 so even that would be after Walt reached LA. The character that would be timely appropriate would be Pete from the Alice Cartoons.
great
Thank you for all the great details Chris!
Hey Chris, maybe the Mickey on the statue is the idea/imagination Walt brought with him, that would eventually become reality.
Even though mickey wasn't "born" until 1928, I like to think that he traveled in Walts subconscious on that trip in 1923. He was just waiting for walt to find him
Love this
Thank you Chris. You never seem to run out of interesting Disney facts
I’ve never noticed that statue before. I’m going to have a look at it next week when I’m there!!! Thanks.
Thanks Chris! How DO you do it! Amazing... delightful... splendiferous! Oh MY!
THANK YOU for reminding me about Get Away Today!!! I am running the Disneyland half and they changed the finish line location from previous years. So I decided to change hotels last minute! But the new hotel was $350 more than the original. I checked get away today after seeing your video and got a room at the same hotel for $250 cheaper, only $100 more than our original hotel! I’ve been panicking about it and this was such a relief. Thank you!
I love this so much!!! As a castmember... great to find out hidden things to share with guest! Oh speaking if sharing... I sent a package with some name tags, just to let you know those can be warm at both parks. We bought them back last year and thought you might enjoy!
I've always enjoyed seeing Storytellers but didn't know about those hidden details! Thank you 😄
This was fascinating, Chris! You r
Videos bring me such joy. Thank you. 💕
Loved this video! It was SO interesting! Thanks again Chris, another awesome video! 🥰👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️😃👍🏼
I have a miniature of this statue, as well as the one across the esplanade. 🙂
Love these history videos, thank you for beign you.
Thank you, Chris! I really enjoyed this video. Although, I was hoping that you would've included the fun fact that Mickey Mouse was first named "Mortimer" Mouse (referenced by Mortimer's Market, which is also located on Buena Vista Street), but Lillian Disney didn't like the name.
Loved this video! It was very interesting! So much detail, love that statue!
Thank you for the trivia. I never knew all of that about the statue! I'll look at it more closely next time ❤️
Woa!
Very interesting facts. I enjoyed this history.
Thank you for teaching me something new about Walt Disney.
good stuff chris! you guys are the best! PPP Rocks!
That girl running up to you probably had the best day. She didn't know what to do and decided to just go for it.😂
Chris-Congrats on 200,000 subs!! Great job!! I have been with your channel when you had less than 1/3 of your current subscribers!! 🎉🎉👍👍
Thank you for sticking with us. 💙💚
Thanks for being light in the world! ❤
Great video today!! I learned so much! Everyday we get a video from you is a great day!! Thank you❤
Great breakdown!
Chris, this is really so cool of you to provide us with this amazing and kinda secret information! Thanks so much!!!!
Well done once again!
Mickey’s name was first Mortimer but Walt’s wife said it wasn’t “right”, and she thought Mickey would sound friendlier to the kids.
One of your best videos ever!!! You are the master of Disney Parks secrets!!
Wooooooooh!!!
That was awesome! Your videos are the best!! ❤❤
Mr Chris!!!, I am trying to pay for one of your cameo style things on your website, but it won't let me. Any ideas?
Love your video as ever Chris and your outro makes me cry thank you!
Chris, we love you brother!!!
Cool stuff never looked at the statue that closely
I had my picture taken next to it, but completely missed all the details you pointed out in this video. Thanks!
It was interesting and had learned some new things totally enjoyed the video
My guess is that it’s not meant to be a literal representation of Walt in 1923. He looks older, and he’s wearing a wedding band (Walt married Lillian in 1925). Some of the articles about the statue and the artists alluded to Mickey “being in his heart” and the dreams and stories Walt had inside him. So Mickey was there in spirit, and the potential for his creation and the subsequent success of the Disney company was set in motion when Walt stepped onto that train. No wonder Walt loved trains!
I think I read someplace that Walt was a paperboy for the Kansas City Star.
Have you done a Secrets Revealed about the Tiki Room?
I am pretty sure that I read somewhere that Mickey Mouse was a comic strip in the newspaper in 1922
$40 in 1923 is equivalent to $722.41 today, except, the money went WAY further. We hear $40 today and we go "What! No way" but back then, it was probably enough to get a place, and food for a while
Hi Chris. Tony from NZ. Was in Disneyland last week. Tried 👀ing for you.😀
Greg, If you are reading this, I’m talking to you!
Hey Chris, just want to say I agree what others have already said here about your knowledge of Disneyland history, but wanted to add would think/have for awhile would be a "dream my heart makes when I wish upon a star" you & Justin Scarred doing a collaboration video on Disney history. His knowledge growing up living so close to the park and your knowledge (me doing your hand gesture blows my mind). Also thanks for your positive messages end of videos. My significant other and I both fans of you and watched your but not separate, literally we'd both make that time to watch together. Well he having type2 diabetes passed away April 30th and I kinda just tucked away missing a lot your content until recently I've re-emerged to catch up what I've missed since then saying to self continue our journey with you in his memory.
Just think if Walt did get the rights to Oswald at the beginning then Mickey may never have been created!!!!!! Also if Walt just stayed at being an animator at Universal then there may have never been a Disney world or the whole Disney franchise of characters and films. Life’s little turns and twists 😮😮😮.
That was cool info I learned about the storyteller statue. I wondering if there are any secrets about the Roy Disney with Minnie Mouse
Laugh-a-gram was in Missouri, not Kansas. 😉
Aloha Chris..sorry I knew all those secrets but still fun.
As a note Walt's dad worked on the Chicago Words fair which was refered to as The White City because the buildings were all white with small lights around the buildings edges(sound familiar?) ti was surrounded by gardens and water ways designed by the same man that designed NY Central Park. Walt though young was influenced in some way by this.
As a note to you, i have booked my last two trips to DL with GAT and asked them to give you credit for it and they said they did. I stayed at the Castle Inn and Suites...good value and close to the park, thank you for the recomendation on GAT.
Thanks for your work Chris
💯💯💯
I never realized until watching this video that my youngest son shares the same birthday as Mr. Walt Disney.
Hi Chris you tube channel Love my favorite one fan Big Disney California Adventure October Halloween 🎃 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖⭐️
It's KC, MO 😅 not KC, KS. It is kind of sad though. The city bulldozed the original laugh-o-grams building downtown =( there's just a mural of Walt and a tiny parking lot in its place. Love the videos, as always!
You’re an awesome 😎 UA-cam channel.
Here’s a comment about your Star Wars part of this video
I saw the ‘83 movie Return of the Jedi.
Will you please consider putting together a video about “what happened to the corner store formally on Main ST” I bought coffee & candy & cookies & souvenirs were for sale there as well. A phone from the 50’s was there & had a recorded conversation as part of “party line”!
Walt arrived in 1923 with just 40 dollars.....thats actually $713 in todays worth
technicly Pete was created before oswald Pete was created in 1925
I went back to the newspaper a few times and don't think I see the Coolige connection if someone can help me out. It looks like it says NT COOL but the presidents name was Calvin not Calvint. Hoping someone can assist! 9:20
❤😊
Notification gang!!!
Hi I hope you are doing well and that everything is going well for you and that you're having a happy week so far and I hope you have a happy evening 🌆 ✨ and a happy night 🌉😴. I also hope you had a good time on this trip and I hope you have a good time on your next trip.
Hey Chris, when we get closer to Christmas, could I post something I wrote some years back? It goes along with your, "I AM talking to you"" line. No hard feelings if you say no. Let me know, please.
I don’t know how I’d feel if I got traded for the rights of cartoon character. Haha
I would never disagree with you on anything.. but... you said Walt's age would be aroung 21 years... The statue shows Walt with a wedding band... Mr and Mrs Disney were married int 1925.. So... Walt would be at LEAST 24 in the statue... probably a little older.. I don't know.. maybe..
Chris i want to go to Disneyland so bad but can't afford it . I hope i can go sometime at Christmas . I have worked retail all my life and couldn't go at Christmas now i am retired i can't afford it
The over enunciation on “provost park pass” has been driving me NUUUTTTTSSSSSS
I thought you did the video a year or so ago??
