I do hope this movie's box office improves as it goes overseas and by it's second weekend. Not just because Pixar needs a hit more than ever, but also because the good word of mouth shouldn't be ignored in the long run. Unlike Lightyear and Strange World, this at least had a substantial amount of advertising (in spite not succeeding at getting people interested) and is being paraded by even the people who wrote it off as "mid" or "bad" beforehand as a pleasant surprise.
I really don't think the presentation in this film gets admired enough. Beyond what you said about just the technological breakthroughs in bringing all the element-people to life, many scenes in the film feel downright *magical* thanks to both the soundtrack and just how beautifully it's all animated and shot.
I’m so happy to see someone else who loved this film! I walked out of the theater with just a huge smile on my face after watching it. Ember and Wade’s relationship is one of the best I’ve ever seen from Pixar recently, romantic or platonic. The characters, their interactions, and their animation are all genuinely fantastic and I hope more people give this movie a chance.
I gotta be honest. I really hope they decide to make some kind of Disney Channel spin off or sequel series to this. I just saw this movie, and while recent Pixar movies have been okay to me, I have not had this much love for a Pixar story since the golden years of Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc, and Finding Nemo. I'm not even joking. I truly view this movie in the same light as those movies. You'd be surprised at how much I'm a sucker for animated love stories, which are my favorite kind of animated movies, and while what they did in this movie is cliche, it felt like something you'd never expect from a Pixar film. I've never really seen them handle romance in a similar fashion as the main Disney studio does with their movies, but wow, did the romance in this movie blow me away to the point i would really love to see a continuation of the story to see they're relationship grow. They could even set the series within the months before they even have to leave Element City, but after seeing this movie I would just love to see these characters again.
I agree with you completely about Pixar in general. Elemental is another solid, heartfelt, funny, beautifully animated and delightful entry from them. Sure the story seems familiar at times and the second act has minor pacing issues. I thought at one moment before the big love scene something was gonna happen. But I felt a bit relieved. This is far from masterful for sure. But it was the slightest bit enjoyable as I always hope for when I see the Pixar opening logo.
Great review. I saw the movie last weekend and while it did not amaze me, I think it was a really sweet film. I appreciate the message and how Sohn dedicated it to his parents. I also agree the animation was beautiful; the colors were very vibrant. Ember and Wade had a very cute relationship too❤❤
I didn’t expect to be amazed myself. But it was the slightest bit enjoyable as I was hoping to be. COVID has left me more critical of things. But I never expect perfection
Personally, I adore this film and think it's one of Pixar's best films to date. I think this is a good review, but you didn't mention the main plot of the movie, which is Ember's struggle to take over the shop. I think that was the main plot of the movie and Pixar strangely didn't show any of that in the trailers.
Loved it... yeah the water...thing climax was kinda flawed it had you thinking it should be a person or angry entity...but the rest of it made up for that...really really cool characters...
@@manuelorozco7760 oh yes...i was hoping it wasnt the water dad or mom..just angry for something stupid. Or some mystical entity didn't like...something

I was in a almost packed crowd of kids and their parents. It was the most enthusiastic audience I’ve been part of for a while

I loved Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure. So I guess maybe setting the series in that time gap won’t be a bad idea

Tbh I brushed it off because the premise seemed overdone but I've heard nothing but good things about this 👀
Subbed~~!

Well at least it wasn’t a twist villain which I grew tired of after Zootopia and Coco
