Thank you!!! I have the MSI GF66-11UC, when I bought the PC they told me I had 2 M.2 slots, so this year I wanted to upgrade my ram and storage. When I opened my pc I saw I only had 1 slot of M.2, but I saw the space for an 2.5'' SSD, I went to the store and they told me they couldn't sell me the 2.5'' because they didn't think that would work and that I only have just 1 slot for storage. So, I was mad because when I bought my pc I asked for a pc that I could upgrade later, and 2nd I refused to only have 516GB of storage. So, I went to best buy and bought a 2.5'' because I was pretty sure that the ssd will perfectly fit in the space I had, and when I connected it I didn't know how to install it, so I thought maybe the guys was right, but with your video I could follow every single step and now I have 1.5 TB in my pc!! :)
Good stuff mate
Hey it's been a while so I don't know if you'll see my comment, but do you remember if there was an SSD metal bracket and screws included in your laptop's box? Did you just plug in the SSD without the bracket or did you use anything else to hold it in place? Thanks in advance!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I tried everything, I went to the msi website, the ssd website (it’s the same one in the video lol) google it so many times, and when I was about to give up, I found this super simple video that showed me in just 10 minutes!
You're welcome!!
I followed this video and added a SSD to my laptop successfully. Thanks a lot! ❤~~🤗 However I had difficulty in putting back the back plate, and I spent about an hour to struggle with buckle joints!😅
is it possible to mount the ssd without using a bracket/hdd caddy?
Upgrade success. Forgot I had used it for a Linux distro previously, so needed to re-format. Thanks.
Glad it helped!
Thank you for this video and the ram install video. I was scared I didn’t think I still have the ssd mount I looked inside the box and found it :).
Very welcome!
@@nesborne3192 *update* both items I bought just like yours works great and very satisfied on my laptop performance. What is your next upgrade? Will you be making a video of it?
Thanks for the information 👍🏻
Oh you are my hero ! Love u so much for your help !!
My D: drive is giving warning "at risk (SMART event)" on my laptop, it's currently empty for this reason and it's suggested to replace it, your video really help. I was unsure about the steps to follow. I thought I would need to clone my HDD to the new SSD (if I replace it I will go for that instead) but since I have nothing saved on it there's nothing to clone I guess, I also wasn't sure if I needed to use a USB boot of windows after changing that drive. I see it's not necessary. it actually look quite simple, I also have a MSI but it's a GL73 8RC. the only thing I should be careful about is static discharge
Thanks a bunch! Super easy to follow. Much appreciated!
Great to hear!
Thanks mate works perfectly in my MSI GF63 Thin 9SCSR
Glad I could help
I got my ssd drive installed and formatted thank you!!!
Glad I could help
can you send me a link for a good ssd bracket?
I ordered my GF-75 Sunday and it's supposed to be here on Friday. I have 64 GB ram a 2 TB PCI drive and a 4 TB SSD. I don't want to have to upgrade much more. The upgrades cost me as much as the laptop. I'm NOT a gamer, I just wanted a screeching-hot machine.
My gf75 thin 9sc does not come with the adapter for the SSD, could you give me the link to buy it? Thanks. Sorry my english.
THIS WAS REALLY HELPFUL! I'm trying to upgrade my laptop to its max SSD capacity but I'm not sure what that is. Could you please tell me what is the MAX SSD capacity compatible with the MSI GF75 Thin 10SC?
Very detailed and helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks, solved my trouble!
Glad it helped
Thanks!!
Nes, where can I get this bracket for the 2.5 ssd drive upgrade ???? PLZ HELP :)
They usually come with the laptop. If you don't have it, check with MSI* to see if they carry it as a spare, unfortunately I don't have the part# for the bracket. Goodluck.
can any one help me ?
i want to upgrade this Notebook, but in the video it dosent showed how to reset the bios battery.... does any other video exist ?
Did you buy the bracket separately?
Awesome video, but I got my GF75 secondhand- I don't have that OEM hard drive clip that came with yours in the box. I'll look on eBay, but do you know where I can get one?

I have the same problem, did you find one in the end?
Also, you'll need 2 screws that fit into the motherboard to attach the SSD (it's a standard fit for the golden threads in video.. NOT the caddy screws, I tore apart an old laptop I have and it had them lol.. I didn't plan ahead. Do better than me
Thx
How can i gets the attachment pieces since i lost mines?
Ha! I screwed up, well I forgot to screw the hard drive to that little bracket. All did was screw the bracket to the computer.
Why do I need to reset the battery?
The hdd bracket didn’t come in the box. Is it already Inside the laptop?
Not inside, but came with the laptop packaging.
heey very nice video .. when my ssd arrives imma do it too ... just a quick question is it possible that the laptop automatically recognizes the ssd ?
It would recognize the drive, however, in the operating system, you have to configure the drive to use it. If I recall, the configuration was part of the video.
Is it an important step to reset EC?
How do I check spec in msi?
Bro i have an old hdd i want to add it to my laptop but it has windows installed on it because i took it from my old laptop
What should i do about it
Can i install it normally or i need to uninstall windows from it firstly?
If you are using it as a data drive, just install & format/re-allocate the drive in the operating system you are using. If windows, really easy to do under Disk Management.
@@nesborne3192 thanks bro
Do you know how many inches does the HHD have to be for gf75 thin?
Get a 2.5" SSD.
@@nesborne3192 a HHD wouldnt work?
@@angel454 no reason to get an HHD. That technology is obsolete.
Bought new laptop See strange but quet noise from left up side what can happened?
Perhaps the fan?
@@nesborne3192 Yes but from inside hear another noice than noice of working
Could you tell me the price to put 1TB of space?
Approx $100
The hard drive older isn’t included with my laptop, do you have an idea where i can found one ?
The holder is sometimes easy to miss, can you re-check your packaging to see if it is still there? If not, check MSI's website or support to inquire if this can be purchased in their store or from an external vendor.
Thanks for your help
I did a quick search & found this, www.battery-adapter.com/product_info.php/products_id/161/vGL63+9RCX
See if it applies for the model you are using. Goodluck !

Thanks! Is this a 2.5 inch hard disk?
I see, it is 2.5 inch.
Yes, it is
lol sorry thats not a drive its actually a sata ssd
Technically it is, SSD stands for Solid State DRIVE, so it would be a "drive". Historically they were referred to as Hard Drive.
