We’ve visited Normandy twice. I’m a US Army veteran and worked for a Lieutenant Colonel whose father is buried in Normandy. So we paid tribute to his father while visiting. The Overlord Museum was amazing and as a veteran there was no fee for me to visit. We were touched to see the number of US flags in the area. Thank you for making this video.
Just booked our tickets yesterday for a trip to Normandy in Sept 2024. I am so glad I've found your videos -all of the towns you visited are on our list of must-sees and now I realize the food is also going to be a major attraction! Two retired Canadians.
YOU ARE THE MOST LOVING ❤️ AND AMAZING COUPLE! THIS MEMORIAL VIDEO SHOULD AIR ALL OVER THE USA AND CANADA AS IT IS THE MOST TOUCHING AND HUMAN VIDEO I HAVE EVER SEEN! THE TV SPECIALS ARE ALWAYS THE SAME AND WATCHING THEM DOESN'T TOUCH YOUR HEART OR BRING TEARS THE WAY YOUR VIDEO DOES. THANK YOU SO MUCH 💓 FROM MONTREAL CANADA 🇨🇦
I have been to these D Day sites many times over the years and know them well. My father landed on D-Day on the 3rd wave, he was the captain of a landing craft at Easy Red sector of Ohama Beach and brought in troops of the 16th regiment of the 1st Infantry Div. Most of them he told at the end of his life that very few of the more than 100 men on this ship did not make it alive to the beach but were cut down in the water. He revisited this site 4 times over the years with me. Your report is just excellent. I am very happy to have found your site, the commentary and film work are just so good in every one of your reports. I hope you continue doing many more of them.
Thank you for such an appropriate video. As we celebrate Memorial Day, it is wonderful to see that people have not forgotten the cost of our freedom. My wife and I have watched most of your videos and will be visiting Paris in late June. Thank you for showing us your beautiful country and we look forward to exploring some of your favorite recommendations. Have a Blessed day
My husband and I went to France this April (2024) and Normandy was part of our tour - so grateful for these brave souls - so grateful - extremely emotional
I went to D-Day beaches with my dad in 1985 (I think). It was very moving. When we went to Pointe-du-Huc those fences weren't there. It was pretty amazing to go down into one of those shell holes. We have a picture of my dad walking through the American cemetary. Extremely moving. A treasured memory because he knew he had terminal cancer. My siblings and I didn't know at that time. My dad insisted that we also go to Germans' cemetary. Dad said it was respectful to go as they were also just young men who died. Also very moving. Thank you both for reviviing some great memories for me. It was my last trip with my dad, he passed about a year later.
Thank you for this video. My father served in the pacific theater, and even in the 1970’s, he would occasion to remind me that I was lucky I don’t speak German. Someday, my husband and I will travel to Normandy, and pay our respects. They deserve it. 🙏🏻
Damn, I have tears in my eyes and yet I am smiling and enjoying your little vacation. You have excelled yourselves with this little adventure. MERCI. 36 yrs in the British Army and never visited, I will now.
This was a fantastic video Les Frenchies! Love how you intertwined your personal love story with some very touching thoughts on war and the D day locations. You covered so much ground that if someone can't make it over to France, they can watch this vlog & get a real feel for the historic sights and the emotions that they invoke. Thank you for taking us on this road trip.
Visited much you include in this vid, including staying in Bayeux for 3 nights. Loved, loved, loved Bayeux and fell in love with Normandy. Visiting the beaches and battle sites was sobering and the cemeteries, with seemingly endless cross markers, made the cost of those young lives snuffed out so much more real than just reading about it. As a former Marine, I was touched deeply. I think the knowledge that the French remember, and revere those who gave all, and take care of those sites so carefully and respectfully made me love France even more.♥
Wished we had stayed in Bayeux last May. We loved Normandy. Every American should spend a week in Normandy. We stayed in Caen and made day trips to the cemeteries, beaches, and Bayeux. This year we will explore Brittany and maybe go back to Normandy. The salted butter is the best in the world.
As a French, I remembered the day i bursted in tears , at the America cemetery, showing to my sons the magnitude of your sacrifices. Our school system teaches us what happened so that we remember. Thanks America , South Africa New Zealand the uk , Australia …
My husband and I watched this on memorial day with excitement, because we stayed in Bayeux while we visited this area on our first trip to France. We visited the beaches near there as well as Gold and Juno Beaches. We vowed to return,as his father landed on Juno on D-day and we were on a van day tour with not enough time to really see and take in all the things we wanted to. When we return, We will travel by train to the area and rent a car in the local area. The Caen museum is one of the places we want to take in. Thank You for your excellent video. Thank You for portraying not only the views but also the very poignant emotions, a visit to this place and time in our history bring forth.🇨🇦🙏🏻
I just spent two weeks in France. My first visit to Normandy. I visited all five DDay Beaches. So much history to see. The view you were able to show at Pointe du Hoc was fantastic. Walking around those bomb craters was impressive, but to see it from the air was startling. It is fitting that I watched this video on Memorial Day and you visited the American Cemetery in Normandy. Such a historic place to visit. So somber and the ultimate sacrifice by those brave soldiers. I am going back in July for two months. Visiting many of the same sites again but now with a better idea of what I am seeing.
Je suis de Normandie,Trouville,Deauville,Honfleure,.J’habite aux USA 🇺🇸 et vous êtes super 👍 j’aime beaucoup vos commentaires et reportages ❤Merci 🇫🇷🇺🇸🙏
Thank you for this video (and all your others). My wife and I will be participating in the 80th anniversary of D-Day as part of the Normandy Freedom Chorus from California and your video was the perfect way to prep for what our experience will be like. If you are in the neighborhood for the events stop by and say hi. I think most of our group are preparing for our trip by watching all of your Les Frenchies videos. Thank you!!
Oh wow, I absolutely LOVED this video. I was moved to tears by seeing Normandy through your eyes. I’ve never been but clearly I must go. Last, the two pictures you shared were so cute 🥰 It’s wonderful to see lasting love ❤️ Looking forward to next week!! 💃🏽
Emotional! My oldest who’s grandfather was in charge of clean up on Omaha, is a WWII historian and has toured us through the region. Thanks for your videos. I’m jealous for your connection to France. I love French food but prefer Spanish wines. My oldest married a Spaniard. Would love to spend more time in France.
Thank you so much for this very interesting video. Although born 5 years after the war, I am always deeply shaken and overwhelmed by the number of US and UK young lives sacrificed for our freedom. There will never be enough thanks in a lifetime. The only way is to maintain the peace in Europe, at ALL costs.
Thank you for this video. My grandpa was stationed in Normandy during WWII, as a medic. In discovering my French ancestry, I found out my family is from the Normandy, Rouen area so it's kinda amazing that he was there during the war, but probably didn't know that is where his lineage started. I visited WWII monuments in Washington, D.C. and it was very emotional, but this video even more so. I am finally visiting Paris in April and plan to make Normandy a future trip as well as the South of France. Thank you for continuing to make beautiful videos of places I long to visit.
So emotional video, it make me cry, to think of those young soldiers that lost their lives that way. But at the same time amaze me to see such beautiful places. Great video like always.
Thank you for this special Memorial Day treat! My grandfather was a WWII survivor. We went to Normandy in 2019, luckily right before Covid. We first went to Omaha Beach and it was pouring rain and wind. By the time we got to the American Cemetery, the sun came out and a beautiful rainbow stretched over the cemetery and ended in the sea. So representative of these two places!!
So emotional... thank you. I have spent a lot of time in France in the last couple of years and have not been compelled to visit Normandy ... This has completely changed my mind.
Thank you for this beautiful video. I was in tears. I am so thankful you saluted American Soldiers. I am so sorry for French loss of life, the loss of towns. But so happy French culture lives on and you didn’t have to learn german in school. Thank you!
Thanks for this fabulous video of the D-Day beaches and surrounding towns. My father jumped with the 82nd Airborne Division on D-Day and I had always wanted to visit Normandy with him. Sadly, I'll plan a visit next year, sadly though with out my father.
I'm sorry for your loss. Although he survived, there's no doubt your dad sacrificed a lot for our freedom. My dad best friend couldn't bring himself to come back to France for our wedding. The memories were just too painful. The casualties weren't just the ones who lost their lives back then. Wishing you a beautiful trip.
Again: a very good, interesting video. Apparently not only for Americans but even for me, a Belgian who is a frequent visitor of France, and was even in Normandy more than once and last time during the summers of 2020 and 2023. So: keep up the good work.
Thanks. We were in Normandy in December 2021 and visited many (not all) of the places you did. We stayed at a B&B in Bayeux and loved it-especially the tapestry. We cannot wait to return and visit more places. Our first stop was the museum in Caen. It was an easy drive from Paris and loved the small roads and little towns everywhere.
Your best video to date. I can feel the emotion of this area. My Dad was a French translator for the 13th Infantry in the Army and was a backup to D-Day. I will visit here for the first time in April 2024 and this video will be my guidepost. Thank you!
Thank you for honoring by talking about D-Day. It took a lot of planning, execution and bravery beyond our imaginations to make that a successful operation. It will be a somber occasion the day I ever visit such a hallowed place.
We visited the week after the 75th anniversary. We were amazed at not only all the monuments and memorials, but all the flowers left the previous week during all the ceremonies. It was really touching to see how the memories of those that sacrificed their lives were still being honored.
I don’t know why this appeared in my feed now, but we loved our trip to Normandy in June 2019! Came a week after the 75th anniversary- took the high speed train to Rennes and then rented a car to drive to Mont St. Michel. 2 nights there and then to Bayeux. Did a 2 day tour of all the WWII stuff - so worth it! I am NOT a tour person but our guides knew so much and took us on private land for some spots! Had never heard of the Bayeux tapestry, had some extra time on our last morning and decided tog go - so glad we did. Have become obsessed with English history since and it appears in videos everywhere. Such an amazing trip!!!
I live in this area (near Caen) and I can say that your reportage is absolutely perfect. You pointed out all the main places to be seen, with a lot of truth and sensibility. You are really welcome in Normandy.
This was an excellent video. My husband and I were in Normandy in June 2023. We saw some of the area but no where as much as we would have liked to have seen. I just told him after watching your Normandy videos that I would like to go back and recreate your trip. Thank you so much!
@@LesFrenchiesTravel my brother's and I are world war II history buffs and our grandfather fought in the war. I definitely want to go to Normandy one of these days. Thank you making this video.
Just returned 2 weeks ago. My daughter hired a private guide in Normandy and she was excellent. Saw many of the sites you showed. Missed the caramels. Wish I would have seen this sooner. We stayed in Caen and Rouen as well as Paris for 5 days. I can't wait to return.
I've followed your channel for a while, and have always enjoyed your videos. This one, from your 3-day visit to Normandy is excellent. It's very moving and authentic. I've visited the region many times, including taking my two sons there on several occasions when they were younger. The Omaha and Utah beaches were THE most difficult of the 5 D-Day landing beaches, and the US lost more soldiers there than any other nation in the landings. As Brits, we stayed close to Sword and Gold beaches most, but we did also visit Juno, Omaha and Utah. The Caen Memorial Museum is astounding. Thank you for what you're doing as "Les Frenchies". You have brought a unique take on living in France (and especially Paris) and I really love your passion and authenticity. Most of all I admire your honesty (and of course recommendations for places to eat!).
Thank you for all of your videos. My wife and I are traveling to Paris and Normandy in late May of this year - 2023. My Dad landed on Utah beach with the 4th infantry division - 44th field artillery on June 6. I believe he landed around 10 am to 10:30 am that morning. He never made it back to France and I am taking this trip for him. I too expect to be very emotional during this trip.
I hope to visit Normandy someday soon. If you’ve watched the series “Band of Brothers” and/or visited the National World War Two Museum in New Orleans, you get a taste of experiencing the horrors of the battle. (My father fought later, in the Battle of the Bulge…)
I love your videos. Normandy brings back sad memories for me. I didn’t loose anyone, but the stories my great uncle told and seeing Omaha Beach, the grave yard, all of it actually, brings his stories to life. What are boys, the French, Jews, England just name a few should never happen again. Now we fight gangs and so forth. Thanks for your videos. My husband is of French descent and he is dying to come that way. When it happens we will look you up for some private tour guiding.❤
Thank you for your tribute to our fallen heros, and such an appropriate video for our upcoming Memorial Day Holiday. Very touching. Our freedoms are so elusive and sometimes forgotten…
This is a fantastic video! I always enjoy your videos, but this one especially. Very touching, very sweet, and still a celebration of the area. Thank you.
You are so wonderful! I have become such a fan. Visiting the Day Beaches and the American Military Cemetery years ago was such a poignant experience for me. Next month I will share it with my 2 sons who would be the age of those amazing young men that gave their life for our freedom. As a young woman, I lived and worked in France. At one point, my father was the military attaché in the Paris embassy. He was often invited to represent those American young men that gave their lives. He never could hold back his tears in those experiences. Thank you for sharing.
You both are just awesome. I can’t thank you both enough for this episode and I look forward to each and every week for your latest. A big fan already. This takes me back to my time in France (2001).
You usually make me smile. Today you made me cry - my heart breaks for todays insane war in Ukraine. Just 2 years ago I had another crazy war for 44 days in my home country. I can’t take any more wars and aggression. Thank you guys for not being indifferent.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel oh yes. I felt that the world is all about money if there is no direct threat to themselves. Had so much disappointment….. thank you guys again for being there for us. I love your energy, kind heart and positivity very much.
Thank you for this wonderful video!! We went to Normandy on our trip early this month but we did the all day marathon. Saw many of the same things but missed some of the great places you showed. Next time! Your video really captured the emotion of the beaches. I know it’s a place we will never forget.
Another awesome video. 👍 I have been visiting Normandy for the D-Day anniversary from the US every five years for a long time, and have still not seen everything. Your video did a great job of hitting many of the highlights. One of the key sites I would add to your list as a MUST see is Pegasus Bridge in the British sector on the eastern end of the invasion beaches.
This was absolutely wonderful. Thank you both so much for your tours, tips, and emotions as I feel like I was with you on this journey. My husband and I are planning a Europe trip this Summer and will definitely be visiting these sites. God bless you from Texas!
I’ve visited the American cemetery at Omaha beach, it’s a very sobering experience all those grave markers lined up as they are in perfectly cut grass. It reminds you of the huge sacrifice made for our freedom. I have an uncle buried in a cemetery at Hottot Les Bagues he was killed a short time after D Day on August 6th 1944 aged 33. As you know there are hundreds of small military cemeteries scattered about all over Normandy, all in immaculate condition, all very sobering reminding us all of the massive human sacrifice made back then. The defences of the landing beaches were designed to make it a killing field, to us now it’s just unimaginable horrors those soldiers landing on the beaches went through. Hundreds of men cut down before they reached proper dry land, awful just doesn’t cut it as a description! Thank you for this video, as a guide in a museum in Aromanches once said to me “Thank you for visiting, it keeps the history alive” and this video helps to do just that.
I was in the US Army in the early 70's station in Heidelberg. I've been to several US war cemeteries in France and Belgium but never (yet) been to the D Day area. Thanks so much for this posting. I get emotional just watching it and thinking of what happened there and it's significance. Wondering how I would have reacted had I found myself in those circumstances. The world knows what those men did and will never forget.
That first town would be my go-to place. I love caramel. I like it much better than chocolate. I also am a butter fan. I didn't buy into the margarine lies. I have eaten butter most of my life. Very moving video. It makes me even more sad about what is currently happening in America.
I also did 20 years in the Air Force. Thanks for the video...We cried with you. Very sad to see young men die that way. War is horrible. I also enjoyed seeing where you guys first stayed and the young couple kiss. NICE. Take care.
Les Frenchies we were just in Deauville /HonFleur and now in Paris! Hope your around toMorrow as would love a selfie on the streets of Paris…love what you do and glad to see your venturing outside just Paris more!!! 😉
I truly appreciate your reverence. As a Vet I remember many of the same emotions you describe visiting the cemetery and viewing the beaches. I like following you in general, but particularly in Normandie.
Thank you for this video . Husband and I visited Brussels last spring because I used to work at NATO and went on 40 year memory lane self guided tour . I wanted to take husband to visit Bastogne but none of the tours were running for some reason😢 and it was too far for us by car . My dad was born in Zeeland Netherlands and used to talk about Bastogne . So husband and I shortened our Belgium trip ( after we visited Brrugge of course ), took the train to Paris and using your videos had a very nice short visit there . Husband and I spent our careers supporting or military service men and women in logistics and weapon system design . And for some reason I really want to visit Normandy ever since the 80s … don’t know why . Your videos are always such a huge help !! I’m going to look to see if you have one on Dardogne ..
Thank you for this moving video, Antoine and Colleen. All of those sacred places stir such emotion every time I see them, and I am so grateful to all of those brave young men. May we always remember their sacrifice. ❤🙏
This video stirred A LOT of emotions for me. My grandfather crossed those very beaches on D-Day. You did a fabulous job showing the enormity of that day, and on a personal level-what it all meant. Merci!
Wow! It is always amazing to me the courage these men must have had to travel to the other side of the world to fight for another nation’s freedom from an evil oppressor. I have not travelled to the D-Day Beaches, however, my family and I did travel to Villers-Brettoneux several years ago, when learning that my husband had two great-uncles who fought and were killed in the Battle of the Somme, there was one on his Mum’s side and one on his Dad’s side of the family, we found the name of one on the Australian Memorial in Villers-Brettoneux, and then we found the other’s grave in a small British/Australian cemetery in the middle of nowhere, near Pozieres. It brought us to tears, it’s such an emotional journey.
Thank you for this video! I have a cousin who lives in Boulogne-Sur-Mer and Normandy is not far away planning a trip there. Finally meeting her this September staying with her for a month.
Great video! I visited Normandy in 2018 and stayed there for 8 days and lived with French farmers in various towns. Went to the beaches and many towns like Carentan, Saint Marie du Mont, Sainte Mere Eglise, Caen and its museum, Bayeaux and its Tapestry Museum, Pointe du Hoc, Utah and Omaha beaches, American cemetery and to all the museums, Longues sur Mer, etc...I have met D Day veterans and Band of Brothers actors. It was awesome!
WOW!!! FABULOUS VIDEO!!! We live in DE and are going to Paris this week and i have seen a few of your videos being here for years. So a couple days watching your channel. I hope we will go here for more than 1 day, being that my father served in the Air Force(no wars) and my husband is retired Army. (no wars). But Im sitting here with google maps checking out ALL these stops!! Great job and so much work putting this together! Thank you! We were even married before you all 1995!🥰 29 yrs in July! So a special trip. You guys were (and still are) CUTE!!! :)🥰
The incredible story of the British Commandos who took Pegasus Bridge is a story no American, Canadian, or Brit should miss. There are several videos here on YT that do a good job of information and entertainment.
omg you guys have given me all the information I need to plan a trip with my husband....Thank you so much. Would love to find you and buy a drink for you in thanks.

I dungy have any connection to the war, but I could definitely feel the weight of humanity and a while lot of composing and gratitude♡
All I can say is wow…. Was touched by the content as well as your infusion of your past. Thank you for this vlog
Thank you!
Im 17, and alreqdy at 30 second this is just perfect content
Terrific video. My husband and I were amazed by this informative and insightful video. Thank you both for sharing!
I live in this area (near Caen) and I can say that your reportage is absolutely perfect. You pointed out all the main places to be seen, with a lot of truth and sensibility. You are really welcome in Normandy.
Merci ♡
This was an excellent video. My husband and I were in Normandy in June 2023. We saw some of the area but no where as much as we would have liked to have seen. I just told him after watching your Normandy videos that I would like to go back and recreate your trip. Thank you so much!
Not just Americans but the Allies which included British , Australian ,French , Canadian and other Allied nations
It's heart wrenching & also very humbling. It was a big emotional visit for me too.
Such a beautiful video to watch on Memorial Day. God bless all our selfless, brave service members. We are forever thankful for your sacrifice. 🙏🇺🇲❤🇨🇵
This one was tough to watch but so worth it. I want to go
It was disturbing and sacred to film
@@LesFrenchiesTravel my brother's and I are world war II history buffs and our grandfather fought in the war. I definitely want to go to Normandy one of these days. Thank you making this video.
Just returned 2 weeks ago. My daughter hired a private guide in Normandy and she was excellent. Saw many of the sites you showed. Missed the caramels. Wish I would have seen this sooner. We stayed in Caen and Rouen as well as Paris for 5 days. I can't wait to return.
Thanks Debra. Can you share the name or website of the guide you hired? We are looking for one. Thanks
@@dadudenyc12 Lena Biehler with Guides De Normandie. She was excellent and very personable.
This was the best tour of such an important part of our history that I've ever seen. So moving. Thank you.
Thank you, this was beautiful. As a USAF veteran, I appreciate this- solemn, informative, and respectful, but involving some levity as well.
Beautiful. Thank you for the timely tribute and reminder of the sacrifice so many have given throughout the decades for our freedom.
Thank you.
This is a beautiful yet powerful video. Your production is 1st class. Very emotional. I would love to see this as a documentary on D day.
J'adore ce couple franco-américain. I love this french/american couple. so sweet !
Merci bien!
You both are just awesome. I can’t thank you both enough for this episode and I look forward to each and every week for your latest. A big fan already. This takes me back to my time in France (2001).
@@LesFrenchiesTravel you are truly welcome!
Glad, you are back. Believe it or not, yesterday I was worried. No criticism here, only showing how much your videos are appreciated.
Thank you for this wonderful video!! We went to Normandy on our trip early this month but we did the all day marathon. Saw many of the same things but missed some of the great places you showed. Next time! Your video really captured the emotion of the beaches. I know it’s a place we will never forget.
21:12 I got to visit that church, along with the Abbaye aux Dames. I really loved it there in Caen when I got to stay there overnight.
Endroit merveilleux à visiter et à voir cette histoire. Merci pour le partage.
It makes me even more sad about what is currently happening in America.
what a wonderful couple
I also did 20 years in the Air Force. Thanks for the video...We cried with you. Very sad to see young men die that way. War is horrible. I also enjoyed seeing where you guys first stayed and the young couple kiss. NICE. Take care.
Les Frenchies we were just in Deauville /HonFleur and now in Paris! Hope your around toMorrow as would love a selfie on the streets of Paris…love what you do and glad to see your venturing outside just Paris more!!! 😉
You two are so loving and kind. We are planning a trip for this fall and your videos are vital to our planning. Thank you for all you do.
Having had relatives who fought in WWII, thank you for posting this incredibly moving piece, so very much appreciated.
I fell in love with Bayeux and Caen.
Thank you for this moving video, Antoine and Colleen. All of those sacred places stir such emotion every time I see them, and I am so grateful to all of those brave young men. May we always remember their sacrifice. ❤🙏
Thank you so much for this post. My uncle was a US ARMY Paratrooper and landed in Normandy on 6-6-44. He also was killed that day. 😥
I shed a tear. Thank you for this video. I must visit.
I hate wars 😢 Definitely brought up a lot of tears and emotions
Stunning video, commentary, music, everything. Thank you.
Thank you, thank you many tears here for what happened to so many.
Fabulous video; watching on Memorial Day; especially moving for us because both our
dads fought in WWII. Thank you for sharing.
What a beautiful & meaningful video intertwined with your cute love story!🙏🏻💚💜💙
Excellent, excellent video. Stirring and informative. You two are doing great work!!
The incredible story of the British Commandos who took Pegasus Bridge is a story no American, Canadian, or Brit should miss. There are several videos here on YT that do a good job of information and entertainment.
Love this video and the history of Normandy WW2. Thank-you! 😊
omg you guys have given me all the information I need to plan a trip with my husband....Thank you so much. Would love to find you and buy a drink for you in thanks.
