    I also feel Americans of color as a whole are OBSESSED with representation. If you go to europe the black and communtiies of color there who are ADULTS are not as obsessed with celebrity culture. Pop culture is taken waaay more serious in the United States and black americans were rooting for tyla because they claimed her as their own. Then they found out south africa is a very different culture and even race is looked at differently over there and once they realize tyla feels shes representing africans and not african americans they turned on her. As someone living in europe i can tell u u get laughed out of the room if you're over 14 and obsessed with celebrity. We listen to the music a lot we consume the art but we dont identify with the characters as closely. I feel like any conversations about artists in the US cant be separated from a general convo about celebrity obsession over there. I always felt many americans live their own unachievable dreams and success through celebrity representation

    The constant comparison to TEMS and ARYA is annoying. Here are the facts. From a numbers point of view, Tyla out performed them hands down on her album - hence the awards. Go run the numbers yourself. The numbers do not lie. TEMS and ARYA have stuck to their genres while Tyla took a massive risk to branch out from traditional African music. She could have lost her entire African audience - But the risk paid off. Tyla's songs are more internationally accepted and catchy and so she has breached the barriers that others have not. To simply "cancel" her talent due to the fact that she is light skinned and pretty is disgraceful behavior. Dark skinned people are losing sympathy by the day as the world watches the abhorrent bullying of Tyla. YES - Tyla is backed by a fantastic team who know what they are doing - So then other artists should question their management teams and learn, instead of ripping Tyla to pieces.

    Yes, it started with the term "coloured" but I believe that word has made things easier for mixed race people in South Africa.
    Normally in the US if you are mixed race you need to pick a side, if one of your parents is black then you automatically black (according to what I see on media) if that is true, I feel for the mixed race people in the US..

    Two things
    The most hated Young beautiful and skinny ......
    If you are this triafecta 85% of sistas will dislike you. They also hate on men who are this triafecta too.
    But the two things...is they only respect you or show love when they see you as no longer as their competition.
    Deceased = Aaliyah
    Old or over 50 = Angela Bassett
    Both are super skinny
    One passed away young and one is older now ie a mother figure.
    But when you're young, skinny and beautiful and alive they despise you because they can never be you.

    Sorry ur explanation u taking to another planet all together... The tyla drama is not about females being jealous of her beauty or success. There are men as well that are voicing their opinion to regards to this drama. Tyla should have been protected by her team and management as to how to carry herself and her fame in public. Society and social media can be very dangerous. I think the main emphasis is that she is still very young and not experienced to the sudden over night success and needs to be nurtured mentally and guided with speach etiquette in public. She will over come this season in life with maturity and the right people who will invest into her fame and success. Right now there are many that are riding on her waves with their on speculation.

TEMS and Arya identify as black, because they are (let us not start that conversation again) , they have not commercially broken into America and internationally the way Tyla did and they did not win a BET award against other American artists. So long they stay in their place - They will continue to be supported. Tyla has broken barriers like never seen before and is now the biggest African Female artist of all time. It is ruffling feathers. Now the only thing that they can say because she is beating their asses is "Oh she is not afrobeats", so that she can get kicked out of the category and give them a chance to win.
