You are correct… They threw mine on a dyno. They found out I was running too much advance and was down on main jet size.

@mikeconnelly7032 i learned the same lesson a long time ago. Thought my stuff ran pretty good....turns out it was at 17:1 AFR
Gained 28HP and a lot of driveability just putting fuel to it and getting to 13:1

@@codysmithmotorsports736 I’m on vacation next week, hoping to get my autocrosser on the road this week. 🙏🤞🏻

Was having overheating issues on my t/a with sbc 350. Sitting in traffic on 80 degrees days was awful. Got a new fuel filter, new holley electric fuel pump, adjust fuel pressure regulator and a champion radiator. Never had an issue again. Can sit in traffic for 10 mins on a 90 deg. Day now. Also have stuck with mechanical fan need to make a custom shroud still.

What causes hard startups. Pressing the accelerator 50 times and having to pump in between to get it started. Carb is rebuilt with new accelerator pump. New fuel filter. Called myself setting left and right gas mixture screws on bottom of carb to 3 full turns when it was running and set lean/ rich dial. Checked distributor on inside and have new vacuum advance next to it. Im lost

@@SlanginBeatz I'd be taking a look at your ignition timing. There's initial (cranking), mechanical (springs and weights), Total (initial plus mechanical), and vacuum.
Not enough initial will make for poor starts. Too much it might be ok cold starting but will make hot starts hard. 10-15 degrees of initial timing is usually a good spot as long as you can adjust/limit the mechanical advance to keep total timing where the engine is happy. It much better to have little less than optimal timing than too much.

@@codysmithmotorsports736 I just manually pumped the accelerator and I see the gas coming out when it wants to. It doesnt come out every time I pull the throttle back. Thats what was happening at first and then I took carb off and changed the accelerator pump cup cause it was ripped. What would cause the gas not to spray out everytime I manually pull throttle.

@@SlanginBeatz it's only going to be able to pump fuel once or twice before there isn't anymore filling the pump shot bore if you're not getting more fuel pumped to the carb (engine cranking w/mechanical pump, or electric turned on).
Another possible issue may be the float level in the carb is too low. So the fuel level in the carb isn't high enough to be refilling the pump shot bore properly.
