Unfortunately this did not work for me. The cmd only popped up once out of 30 resets, and it closed for no reason mid changing stuff. I however realised that with the windows 10 installation media tool I could restore my system to a save from 2 weeks ago without needing the local account password. Which also means if I wanted to I could go through the startup repair and also see if that bore any fruit.
Omg thank you man. I got stuck behind a forgotten pin, no internet connection, no sign in options. I did know my password but for one or other reason there is no pin reset in advanced startup even if you have your password. I was pulling out my hair as every option on the internet was simply "connect to your account online and reset it" or "click sign in options".... Thanks. Have a like and a subscribe.
Oh my God you absolute life saver. I accidently turned all services off by mistake so essentially bricked myself out of my own account and the wifi/ethernet service wouldn't start up so Microsoft wouldn't let me into any of the recovs either. I bypassed that with an ISO tool thingy and creating an admin guest user and then slapping all the services back on again fixed my account. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this you have saved my life.
When I made a new account and logged in and it didn't let me select anything only but my files nor did it give me the privacy setting so I can't click nothing but files
I had my working fingerprints but had forgotten my password. I open the CMD command as Administrator and used the "net user" and "net user * " commands, then reseted my password without any hassle. This video helped me to solve my issue, thanks.

Thank you for your very helpful tutorial! I have used this method successfully in the past but applied in different ways. I had an issue with the Accessibility button actually opening CMD. I know that I completed the renaming steps properly and did it multiple times to be sure. I did see where @electronics&computers mentioned to one user to restart over an over until it opened. I restarted over 30 times. I finally found another thread outside of UA-cam that suggested opening the Accessibility Button while in in Safe Mode. This WORKED for me! So for those struggling with the solution, try to open in Safe Mode. Thanks again.
Thank you for the comment! We still can't figure out what process is blocking the command prompt or doesn't allow to start for some time. There's no any pattern of Windows behavior which could give us a hint. It may appear after first click or after second reboot or after a whole bunch of restarts. There's no such problem with Windows 10.

Hey everyone this worked for me my computer does not have a command prompt shortcut on the sign in menu so if yours doesnt have one as well go through the reset boot menu by holding shift then reset your pc when you are done coping the util like he said the button will then trigger the command prompt. best of luck to everyone

Maybe it's late, but if you replay that's my happiness. So I can't get in troubleshoot from the lock screen, but I also have another account and I can open it and go to troubleshoot, but also the big question is:if I do that the Comand prompt also run for the administrator or for the family account (idk If I just explain it correctly, but I hope you'll understand if you see that)
This was great getting into the machine. I deleted the original user, but unfortunately, under the new profile when I attempt to use my personal microsoft account, it says the user was already using that account on this machine. So I still cannot use it.
I cant access the original user data it says access denied you need to gain access through the security tab and in the security tab it says you don't have permission to view or edit this object's permission settings

Sometimes you have to restart your PC up to 10 times to make it work. Don't give up. Start your PC, wait for 30 seconds and press the button. If it doesn't work, restart again wait for 30 seconds and press the button. Repeat the process until you get what you need.

I tried it, but i was doing an older video with the driver trick, i renamed the exe files but now i cant find the cmd file. I dont have a utilman file, only the utilman1. Did i delete cmd now? Bc the cmd also doesnt start if I press the butten on the lower right corner. Do i have to reset my pc now?

After Creating the new user account and moving data, I can’t open settings and any other system apps, I can only open File explorer and other apps likes games etc
This worked for me but I had to do it in D drive... But then when I got into my account the windows folders were in C drive only... Then why did I see those files in d drive in the command prompt?

It worked for a short second and then just deleted itself, when trying to rename it back to cmd.exe it said it couldn't find it.

Ive restarted likes 4 times and the accesibility still aint showing me the command box....

this exploit can also be used for windows xp, vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11
its been unpatched for so long
It will never be patched. Similar backdoors exist for MacOS and Linux and I think they are there for a reason.
i think its intentionally there so there is a way for tech professionals to reset a password if they need to.

When you're in the recovery mode, partitions and drives get different letters compared to normally loaded Windows.
