+Ethan Boutwell The band saw is a 10" Craftsman. My router isn't a real router. It's a Craftsman All In One cutting tool, basically a RotoZip, with a router base. I love the band saw, the "router" not so much.

It looks really nice. For your stamp, is that white pigment ink or is it actually paint?
+Bruce A. Ulrich Thanks! It's white pigment ink. I thought the ink would be easier than paint but it takes a long time to dry and doesn't always dry completely on it's own.
+Makify1 I've had a similar experience. I've been using oil finishes (pure tung oil) on some cutting boards, and putting the finish on top of the pigment stamp seems to blur it a bit. I was just looking for a better solution.

nice job. how well did the sealer cover the gold leafing? I mean can you still feel the texture of the leafing?
+Bruce I put on 4 coats and I can still feel the leafing a little bit. It doesn't feel like I could rub off the leafing or anything but there is some texture there.

Beautiful piece. But if you knew beforehand that you were going to gold leaf it, then was it really necessary to sand all of the burn marks completely off?
I was afraid they would show through. Turns out that was an unfounded fear.

+SPPPSydney I hand carved it from block printing material, Blick Ready Cut to be precise, then glued it to a piece of wood with contact cement.
