This is my reaction to Svenska nyheter - Postnord
In this video I react to Swedish satire television show Svenska nyheter (Jesper Rönndahl) as they investigate the Swedish Postal service Postnord.

Fun fact, Swedish Post was ranked as one of the best in the world, but since beginning of 2000 it has gone downhill quite alot. Postnord is still a co-op with Danish Post

We got mail 2 times/day once. Now they say 2/week or 3/week, and post goes missing. You need to keep track of every pac on internet. We really should demand free internet. Now banking, paying bills, check your mail etc. craves internet. We have no service at all. 😡

When I was working at the postterminal in gbg 98-2000, the company got all kinds of awards, we the employees could not be paid financially for this, but we got really nice Christmas gifts, boxes of cheese, cured ham and smoked/gravad salmon. I appreciated it allot back then, the job was not that great, but if you worked with the right ppl any boring task would be so much fun😂

@@coconutfleetsleeper5717 Exactly i worked there too back in 98 as a summer job, between school semesters. Running up and down 4 story staircases and biking around in the rain(protecting the letters) was not a simple feat, much tougher than today's food delivery people, with that silverspoon in their mouth. At least I was fast enough to be able to only work 6-12 on tuesdays, wednesdays and fridays while still getting payed for the full 6-14 standard hours.
Mondays & Thursdays I had to restock the bike several times because of flyer ads.

Postnord is commonly referred to as ”Postmord” (mord = murder).
Personally I’ve had very few and minor issues with them, but I do not live in a rural area.

Same, few and mostly minor, with a few exceptions. Most of my issues has been with mail from outside Sweden, whether it's from outside the EU or inside the EU, and the issue there is most often the ridiculous amount of time it takes to process. I ordered a book from the US recently. It took about three days from when it was sent to when it got to Sweden. Then it took almost three weeks before I got it, and there were no customs fees on it.

I'm an American living and Sweden; I can attest to this.
I had a package on the way to Gothenburg; it went from Dallas, to Raleigh NC, to Miami on its way to Sweden. It went to Stockholm, sat there for about a month, then was sent back to the US, where it had to be reshipped again. Eventually got to Stockholm where it sat there again for about a month, before finally getting sent to Gothenburg. Whole process actually took about 4 months with Postnord.

    • @prinzezze
      @prinzezze 11 днів тому

You have to pay customs for packages from outside the eu, might be why it was sent back.

    • @DefaultFlame
      @DefaultFlame 7 днів тому

@@prinzezze On some things yes, it's kind of on a case-by-case basis, but sometimes they don't even send you the bill. It just sits there until it gets returned.
Internal mail in Sweden is generally ok, if not as good as it used to be, but receiving mail from outside Sweden can be dodgy, even within the EU. There's usually no issues with rough handling of delicate items and such, but sometimes getting things actually delivered can be a pain.
That's not even mentioning the ridiculous amount of time it takes them to process it.
I ordered a book from the US, it took about three days from when I ordered it for it to arrive in Sweden, but then it took almost three weeks for them to get it from customs to me. Internal mail in Sweden usually takes about two days.

Postnord is definitely one of the most hated/ unlike companies in Sweden. They first did not want to deliver packages every day so they delivered every two days and now they do not want to pick up letters and packages every day just every two days. And it's not uncommon that the letters and packages they are handling get lost. Even packages you pay extra too track and follow get lost, they get to some terminal and then magically disappear.
Or all the idiots working there just sending a text to your phone "Unfortunately you were not home when we tried to deliver the package. So now you need to travel 10km and pick it up yourself." Even if I have specifically been home waiting for that package to arrive.

True story: My kid brother has been driving Trucks all over south Sweden for "Poståkeriet" since -94 and totally love his work... But!!!! The difference today is that he no longer feel proud of his work: He used to wake up, put on his working clothes with the "Posten" logo, go 10 km to Work Station and pick up his truck... Nine hours later he would go home, stop and do grocery shopping on the way, maybe have a "fika" on the way home - all dressed in "Posten" pants and T-shirt, feeling proud of a good days work in the important civil sector...
Today, you never hear him talk about his job, youll never find a cap or jacket with the "Postnord"-look at his home... He has everything hidden in a locker at work and changes there... So fxxkin sad...
He only stays cause he loves driving Trucks, and as an employee for 30 years he'll never come anywhere close to the salary he has today - not to mention that finding a similar STEADY job when youre 50 is almost impossible...
    Love from Sweden 💖

They also lie about delivering packages.
Postnord: "Oh no one was home, so we drove off."
Me: "I was sitting on the Front Porch in The middle of fuckall, there's but one lonely road, up to my house, and not a single car have frequented the road today."
Postnord: "No the driver was most definitely there."

That is _allegedly_ a system fault.
The driver probably didn't have time to deliver your package but that is _allegedly_ not a selectable option in the system so they have to default to "wasn't home".
Det är dock ett påstående som jag inte vet om det finns någon sanning i...
Man grundproblemet kan måhända vara ett för tight tidsschema kombinerat med taskig kommunikation vilket iofs inte gör bekymret mindre irriterande för mottagaren. ;)

Sweden became the first country in the word to deregulate the post/mail.
So far all deregulations done by (most often right conservative governments in Sweden) have turned it everything to either bad or horrible, depending on what it is. The obsession of privatising and deregulating of services that are crucial for a working, safe and secure society, is what is breaking down a society and implodes it to it's core. No good have ever come from it.

I'm in a full blown war with postnord.
One of my favorites are when a friend sent a package to me, and it came ripped up and the content crushed. I contacted them and their explaination were "It was sent in a low quality box". The funny part is that IT WAS THEIR OWN F-ING BOX!!!
As I live in the countryside, I often opt for countryside home delivery, plant myself in the garden between 08 to 18, yet get the "You weren't home" text during the day. But I guess it's better than the time they left kibble in a paperbag 200 meters from my house when it was pouring down. I was injured and had paid extra to have it delivered to my door. Postnords sollution? I should walk back and forth with a litre at the time.
Then there is the issue with my mailbox. I have one that can be moved as sometimes I'm to sick to shovel snow. My mailman doesn't know how to go in reverse, so he moves it out to the county road where it gets hit by passing cars. He also doesn't like the selfclosing lid, so he bends it and the result is that I often get my mail soaking wet as the wind opens it at it stays open.
These are just a few of the hundreds of idiotic things they have pulled.

The minister that was responsible for this fiasco also was responsible for one another huge costly fiasco. The swedish government owned energy company Vattenfall bought a dutch energy company, EON, that cost us swedes roughly 75 billion kronor due to value loss. She is known for being Swedens most costly minister. And back to Postnord, from going to deliever mail 5 days a week they now only deliever 5 days in a two week period. And selling Vin & Sprit to the french was also a mistake, they screwed us almost right away.

This was actually a long time ago. It's not like this anymore. They don't deliver letters every day now. They deliver letters every other day, unless it disappears on the way that is. Oh, and in some areas, they simply don't want to drive up to the houses anymore, but instead force the people to buy postal boxes in a collective area. It has become waaaaay worse. A look back in 5 years will probably be quite tragic.

Postal order was introduced in Sweden in 1636 on the initiative of Axel Oxenstierna. It meant that there would be a postilion with the task of conveying (transporting) the mail one mile in two hours; whoever took longer would be deposed and punished with eight days' imprisonment "on bread and water".

If someone sends a birthday card through post I’d get it sometimes half a year past my birthday(that’s from other countries though). Oh and then they send it all the way back if you don’t come pick it up within some random time they decided…
It’s not that bad though, I’m used to it.

I had ordered a pin from the US, then our landlord suddenly decided that the only name allowed on the door was the name of the guy who owned the apartment. Which meant that none of us who actually lived there got any mail since in was the wrong name on the door and this was a sudden decision. They sent the pin all the way back to the US without informing anyone. 🙃

I work as a technician for restaurant equipment repairing and installing new stuff, and before Covid we could have spare parts delivered home since going to the office to pick them up wasn't always a good option thanks to travel times, in the over 400 packages I received in around 2 years I only experienced issues with single one, for some reason it was sent to the wrong delivery place, but still within 10 minutes of home.
We did have problems with a shipment during work though because a truck broke down so our delivery was many hours late while we were at a worksite.
Normally though packages and mail alike arrive the next day unless sent too late in the day in which case it comes in 2 days.
Compared to UPS where I had problem with 2 out of 5 deliveries.
I live in Stockholm though and I believe we have it much better in that regard than out in the rural countryside.
If I can chose what delivery service to use when shopping online I always go for Postnord since they in my opinion are much more reliable than the alternatives.

  • @joonglegamer9898
    @joonglegamer9898 Місяць тому +1

Well, it has gone down and up. And there's much more to it than whats in that news satire, I can explain:
At some point PostNord got too many orders from a big red country, people liked the countrys "free shipping" on 2 dollar products, and it got so extreme at some point that PostNord went into a collaboration with the government and customs offices to introduce a tax for doing customs on orders from certain countries. Then all of a sudden it did not make any sense for people to order from that country anymore, so while the load on Post Nord drastically fell, there were literally no purchases abroad online anymore because on a 2 dollar item you'd get slapped with a 7 dollar tax and handling fee plus the mandatory taxes, your post would be held hostage untill you paid it.
This has improved now that various online businesses in those "red" countries have made a deal to pre-tax goods before shipping, so people won't be hit with that tax anymore.
Also another issue that Post Nord was infamous for, was the pressure on their delivery people, postmen... so what happened was that a lot of people complained that they got a small note in the mail or on the door - that essentially said: We've been here trying to deliver your goods, but you were not home. So we will drop it off at an distribution central instead.
The truth came out, people video-filmed postmen simply dropping pre-written "you where not home" notes in peoples mailboxes, without even checking if anyone was home and a lot of them got caught on video doing this. This got so bad at some point that it became country-wide news, and finally they admitted that their postal workers were set to impossible delivery KPI's and suffered really bad working conditions.
All of this has improved now. I've noticed that I get my mail more regularly (haven't seen any misses the last 2 years). On the other hand, they only deliver mail 3 times a week instead of 5 times a week, skipping a day.
Also - people find it more practical to use "insta-boxes", meaning delivery boxes at the local supermarkets, so you can order something and choose a pickup-point instead of having it delivered to your door. This system works remarkably well, and I like it - because I don't have to be home to wait for a package at an uncertain delivery time. So win-win for that one.
TL:DR; take from this is that it has improved tremendeously, so it's not all bad anymore.

  • @Tim_Nilsson

I've never really had any issues with Postnord myself.
Since it's a national company and they handle all mail and most parcels they've been an easy target.
It became a thing to bash them.
Statistically I wouldn't be surprised if they still are the most reliable alternative.
I personally have had more problems with DHL, Schenker, UPS etc.
UPS is the company I personally have had the most issues with.
It was however a mistake by the Swedish government to create Postnord in junction with the Danish post.
The Danish side has been bleeding money since the beginning.

I left my mobile charger at my parents a few weeks ago. Mom paid SEK 105 to send it in a padded envelope as a letter. I had to walk 15 minutes to the post office to pick it up. Why on earth can't the post office deliver letters to my mailbox?
Another time I went to pick up a package. When I went out, I discovered that it was not my name on the package. When I went back and upset about the error, the girl behind the cash register didn't seem to understand that it was a big deal. "it was the same first name on the package". If I had been dishonest, I could have taken this package and then gone and collected the package I was supposed to have. That's one way packages can disappear.

Postnord is the biggest transport company in Sweden, the volume they have is increasing more and more, which also means more customers, from what ive heard is that they manage to deliver 98% in time without problems, and this people are not gonna speak up because it works. The only ones that speak up are the around 2%.
The size of market share means the 2% is a quite a bit of people. So its not that bad as people make it out to be.
And the Danish one was a bad deal because they fucked us over, the knew they were going to digitalise mail... It is what it is

Thievery and malpractise in general is so common amongst the workers of Postnord. No wonder when the company brings you nothing to be proud of.

I truly hate Postnord, and call it Postmord (mord means murder) 😂. When I lived in Stockholm, they lost so many letters and parcels. I had to spend hours calling them and trying to find out where my packages were and to get them delivered.

  • @Babesinthewood97
    @Babesinthewood97 18 днів тому

Yes Postnord isn’t great at delivering. Packages just sit for over a month. The deliver to the wrong adress. Refuse to return a package that they never delivered. Never pass on information from phone calls and emails. Things like that. But most of the time, they deliver. Posten worked perfectly until they dismantled the Swedish post and closed all the post offices around 25 years ago.

Norwegian here and we also absolutely hate PostNord. They have ruined my day so mamy times now it's like they go out of their way to mess things up. Lost packages, stolen packages, late deliveries and blatant lies. They delivered as promised on one single occasion. Otherwise they have claimed to deliver things while I was at home working in the garden and no, no one ever came. "Well, the package was delivered" they said. Not a chance it was. Another delivery was apparently made, not really sure though, but they said the parcel was in a plastic bag hung on a picket fence where I lived at the time. Somewhere I couldn't see it and hundreds of people went past early in the morning. Someone could just reach put and snag the bag whilst walking past and it seems they did.
Ah, so many examples like this, I'm going off on a tangent here.
TL;DR: I lost so much because of PN, even some irreplaceable family heirlooms.

Once you get used to it it's not that bad most of the time, at least if you live in a decently sized place. I understand those that have to drive very far to pick up their packades are annoyed, but they are by definition in the minority since the reason they have less service is because they chose to live more isolated in less populated areas. And it kinda sucks that Postnord only delivers every 2 days now instead of every day, but that also only apply to letters and smaller parcels sent with regular postage stamps. Parcels with paid tracking will be delivered to you or your closest currier any weekday, sometimes even on Saturdays which never happened a few years ago. And it's not even sure your "fun" parcels with your latest online purchase is delivered by Postnord, you have DHL, City Mail, Bring, DB Shenker, Instabox, Early Bird and probably more I can't remember, that all come with their own set of problems, but are at least options.
The worst thing for me personally is the abysmal collaboration between Postnord and Swedish Customs. Whenever I buy something from outside the EU, even from the UK since Brexit, my parcel is stopped by customs to pay import tax + a handling fee of 100 Swedish Crown (recently increased from 75 Swedish Crown, which already seemed steep, but is now just outright unreasonable in my opinion). Then after paying the fee, it will take on average 2-3 weeks before Postnord delivers my parcel, even if the online tracking updates the very same or the next day to me having paid the fees. I always try to find the items I want from Swedish or EU stores, but sometimes, especially concerning English books, especially English books that were never popular in Sweden and are out of print so I can't request a bookstore to stock them and they are unlikely to be found second hand in any Swedish shop, but I can find them easy enough second hand on Amazon UK or World of Books, have become insanely more expensive and much slower in delivery since Brexit.

Have worked in a few warehouses and PostNords warehouse that I worked in were more stressed than the others combined. The boss almost literally breathed down our necks. I've never seen people as stressed as the workers there. Meanwhile they had to get out a ton of pallets daily, the pallet furthest in the warehouse was some pallet from 2 years prior. I was there in 2017, so a few years ago but yeah. I guess much hasn't changed.
Oh and there was this one time when a truck driver was supposed to drive under a bridge, he completely miscalculated the height. Have also seen plenty of pictures where PostNords trucks lie in the ditch because of reckless driving. So yeah, from my experience they're so stressed all the time that they can barely function. Saw a person posting a thing just last year when PostNord was delivering a pc, the package was all damaged and the pc did work but was all damaged. So, if you have any other alternative you should always take them over PostNord.

That a company as large as Postnord makes mistakes is inevitable. It is of course sad for those affected.
Likewise, the fact that in several parts of the country they have stopped handing out the mail every day is not good. Handing out mail is like their business idea.
But it has become a bit of a thing to blame them. Likewise, it is practical to blame Postnord when you neglect to send Christmas cards to your relatives.

Postnord is commonly owned by Swedish and Danish countries. They are not so bad, yes they do fail sometimes. But for me it works almost every time. The big problem was like they said in the video, the Danish side which handled this like shit against Sweden.

Postnord... latest misshap was my postalcode was one letter wrong, everything else was right (street/village etc). the postalcode had the first number wrong and was not valid so instead of looking at the rest they sent it to the other side of sweden and sent me a text "you can now pick it up at xxx" it was about 700 miles away (450km). I called and asked them to send it to me instead and just got the reply, "the reciever cant change the adress you have to call the sender and make them change the adress", Im not changing any adress just making them know one number is wrong but no... We had to wait 14 days for them to send it back so they could change it and send it again 🤦‍♂️

Generally freight handeling is bad in Sweden. I cant say if PostNord is the worst, but all freight that need to be taxed is handled by PostNord, and several times they have failed to send the invoice for the tax before they have returned the pacage to sender due to non payment of import-taxes. So PostNord is not a well run company, and it was even worse back when the show aired.

  • @needlenude
    @needlenude Місяць тому +1

Oh, PostNord is terrible and only getting worse. A US friend of mine sent me a package last year. Postnord decided to deliver it to me when I wasn't at home, giving me no notice and they didn't have a way to get into my building. Since they failed to delivered it, they brought it back to the terminal where they lost it. I had to hound them for weeks for them to finally find it.
This Easter I sent an Easter card that arrived 3 weeks too late.
So yeah. Hurrah for PostNord. Also, one of their workers was super rude to me on the subway.
The referendum thing was a joke btw but if there was one, I'm sure 99,99% of the Swedish population would agree with kicking PN off a very tall cliff, after setting it on fire first.
