About the Dursleys taking Harry to an optometrist; Harry's school would be able to notice Harry struggling with his vision and they could be mandated to report the Dursleys if they didnt. Or just the fact that a blind "servant" is less efficient.
They are also really big on appearances. Frankly, if they were worried about mandated reporting, they would have given him the second bedroom from the start.
I agree they probobly had to get him glasses due to concerns from his teachers, but I don't think they'd bother with the optician, I think it's more likely they bought him a cheap set from the pound shop in a standard prescription. Based on evidence from the books, it's unlikely to even be the right prescription :///

8:20 I have thought about this in the past, as doing anything to help Harry is out of character for the Dursley's, and my conclusion is that likely a teacher took note of Harry's poor eyesight and informed Vernon and Petunia. Their unwillingness to support Harry was trumped by their need to keep up appearances as responsible guardians for the teachers.
Also it's free in the UK for children to go to get their eyes tested. And you get a certain amount of money towards frames and their are always frames that can be "purchased" with that amount of money... so the Dursley's wouldn't have paid anything. And probably took him when they took Dudley
I have had a theory for a while now and i can't stop thinking about it. Basically i belive that the sword of gryffindoor could actually block/absirb avada kedavra and that is the reason to why Gryffindor himself was so good i duels. Would love to see a video about this. Fantastic stuff recently btw, keep it up!
If that were the case, any direct contact with the sword’s blade would likely kill you instantly as direct contact with the Killing Curse would, which we see is not the case. A cool theory nonetheless. I theorize that Gryffindor, as a wizard hiding amongst Muggles in an isolated and unorganized magical community, was a warrior, hence why he had his sword made. He could perform magic with his wand and fight directly with his sword like a Muggle would. In fact, that sympathy and similarity to Muggles might have been part of the reason that he and Slytherin seemed to not get along.
I think they meant that Rolf is a Germanic name that refers to a wolf. Like how for example Rodger is also derived from a Germanic/Nordic name meaning Mighty (Hrod) Spear (Geirr)
I've come up with a What If that I think would be very interesting. "What If Harry Potter Was A Squib". Would Dumbledore know when he was a baby? Would he tell the Dursleys? Would the Dursleys treat Harry better knowing he wasn't magical? Would Dumbledore still bring Harry to Hogwarts to learn about Magic and teach him to defend himself? Would Harry still have some of Voldemort's powers such as parseltongue? Would Harry still get a wand and would his original wand choose him?(Even though he wouldn't be able to use it). Would it be public knowledge that "The Boy Who Lived" was a squib? Would Harry still be put in Gryffindor? Would Filtch be kinder to Harry cause they're both squibs? Would Harry have more Astronomy, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions, Care of Magical Creatures, Divination(Maybe?) or Study of Ancient Runes classes instead of classes that involve using magic. Would Harry be taught how to fight without magic like with a sword, using potions or having pet magical creatures? Would Harry still go into the chamber of secrets and save Ginny? Would Harry still runaway from home and call the knight bus or meet Sirius? Would Harry still need to save Sirius from the Dementors? Would Harry still be enter into the tri wizard tournament? Would Voldemort still take Harry's blood and return? Would Harry be able to save himself and Dudley from the dementors? Would Harry still be allowed at Hogwarts when Umbridge becomes Headmistress?
That whole Squib identification thing is fanon. Neville himself tells us in canon that his family didn’t know whether he was a Squib or not when he was pretty old for a toddler, hence why they put him into dangerous situations to test him. We can assume that the final nail in the coffin for any child that hasn’t yet performed magic by their 11th birthday is their Hogwarts letter never showing up. What a tragic reality check. Ergo, Harry would still be suspected of being a Wizard and the Dursleys would still treat him as such, though they would likely be less antagonistic without him doing accidental magic all the time. Since McGonagall didn’t catch that Harry lived in the Cupboard Under the Stairs from her first letter, we can assume she doesn’t read much into each letter. They likely wouldn’t have checked the Book before then to see if his name was in it. Ergo, McGonagall catches that Harry’s name isn’t on her list while she’s sending the letters. Who knows how Dumbledore would react? Still wish I saw more Squib Harry stories. Would actually be a nice dynamic to have the main character be the only one without magic in the series. Then again, even if Harry was a Squib, it’s possible that him using Parseltongue at the zoo would count as magic and would get his name written down in the Book. From there, everything would be the same, from the wand choosing Harry because of his connection to Voldemort, up until actual classes, where Harry would find that he can’t do anything.
I knew the Astoria Greengrass question in the thumbnail before I ever watched SCB due to my rather cringe middle school fanfiction days... ah, the memories...
Before the books came out that style of spectacles were called "John Lennon glasses." Maybe Vernon & Petunia were fans and wanted young Harry to pursue a music career. Certainly a better choice than magic.
Mr Roberts, the muggle at the quidditch world cup, describes the galleons as "hubcaps" when he's asking if the Weasley's are foreign, because someone else tried to pay him with "coins the size of hubcaps". Tbh, always felt like Voldemort would possibly have children to be his lieutenants for his immortal reign. You know, as sort of a way to get more competent and loyal servants than his spineless and arrogant Purebloods Death Eaters. Not only could he indoctrinate his children while they were small, but he could also tout his lineage as more important than others if his children did well. I also felt like the plot kinda did fit what with his horcruxes and how he made more after Harry vanquished him the first time. Why would he make another if he recognizes that they weren’t useful? Because none of his servants knew about them or what they were or even where they were, so how could any revive him if his actual body died? For a guy bent on immortality, it seems like an obvious flaw in the plan and, if it weren’t for Peter, canon Voldemort may never have gotten revived. His children could help with that. Not only would they be taught to love him and be extremely loyal, but he could trust them with such secrets because they wouldn’t have any other agendas or loyalties. Ergo, if Voldemort died, they’d be told where a Horcrux is and how to revive him. It would be the ultimate trump card for him to play, hence why he may choose someone like Bellatrix to carry his children, whom had a respected lineage above all others and whom was loyal to him above all. Delphini was a good idea. I’ll die on that hill. It’s just that, like everything else in the Cursed Child, she was executed horribly.
Absolutely agree that there should be a Regulus Black series - he’s such an underrated and layered character, I just know that if they were to make a show centred around him it’d have so much potential!
As the mother of a Wilhelmina thank you so much for giving her the validation that someone not only can pronounce it but that person loves Harry Potter too. 🥰😂
24:57 “Once removed” is just a generation shift…your parent’s 1st cousin is your 1st cousin once removed (they would be the parent of your 2nd cousin).
You are on Q2 and I want to ask (and maybe have done so years ago) is it a coincidence that the star Regulus is in the constellation Leo 🦁? Was it very obscure foreshadowing on JKR's part? Which do you think?
7:05 Question 5 There are actually Multiple Correct answers to that question since Bellatrix is of course Delphis Mother but that would also make Sirius her cousin and Ron Weasley would also be related to her through his Fathers Mother. Technically as far as anyone knows Cedric is the only choice here that’s not actually related to Delphi

0:05 I want to say Luna love good just for the lols
Amazing video you guys! Well done on the quizzes, but I must take note. That is one beautiful thumbnail! It caught my eye immediately on the "fyp!" Keep up all the great work as usual!
Them: Lycan and Lorcan
Me: Lorcan and LYSANDER
I still love this channel tho❤
Highlight of my day!
Technically question 5 would be A and C because since Bella is her mom, Sirius would be her cousin?
tecnicly correct. Also Ron though around a few more corners (yay incestues familie trees of the 28 ^^)
8:19 Don’t forget the Muggles have the NHS, do Harry’s eye tests would have been free, and kids get discounted glasses too
Happy to see a rare Ben win. Some say it's a lucky event, only occuring a few times each generation.
Law Ninja is pretty epic with some of the questions he/she comes up with, i see their questions get chosen a lot :)
I’m super excited for this quiz! I think that some of this will be hard but most of it will be pretty easy. Of course there are lots of different exciting families in the series so who knows! 🤷♀️😂
The galleons being the size of hubcaps was from goblet of fire. The muggle taking the money from Arthur for the camp site says something about it
@ta vh oh maybe! I thought he was just describing someone trying to give him galleons.
@@TiaMat99 i believe it was just exaggerated because they are so much bigger than muggle coins
My day literally gets made when i refresh and there's a new J vs Ben
Absolutely agree that there should be a Regulus Black series - he’s such an underrated and layered character, I just know that if they were to make a show centred around him it’d have so much potential!
7:41 kat's kute sneeze
5:05 - too much people to greet? No Problem et al!
I'm definitely the one Ben fan. I love that he almost always hosts the podcast while Jonathan almost always wins the trivia. It's perfect lol
As the mother of a Wilhelmina thank you so much for giving her the validation that someone not only can pronounce it but that person loves Harry Potter too. 🥰😂
10/10! :) and 4/5 Quizmaster Questions, I need to brush up on my Sacred 28 knowledge
Awesome thanks guys
The first one to get a perfect score gets to punch their brother in the face
15:28 It's Lorcan and Lysander
You guys should do J and Ben vs The Quizmasters. You guys work together and try to ace it
One day you guys should do a video called: EASIEST harry potter quiz EVER
What's the thumbnail image from?
Also why are they changing a ton of their old video thumbnails?
24:57 “Once removed” is just a generation shift…your parent’s 1st cousin is your 1st cousin once removed (they would be the parent of your 2nd cousin).
Wow, Tom Felton in that thumbnail is... very pretty.
You are on Q2 and I want to ask (and maybe have done so years ago) is it a coincidence that the star Regulus is in the constellation Leo 🦁? Was it very obscure foreshadowing on JKR's part? Which do you think?
Eyeconic 😂😅🔥
I cant stop repeat at 25:33🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
7:05 Question 5 There are actually Multiple Correct answers to that question since Bellatrix is of course Delphis Mother but that would also make Sirius her cousin and Ron Weasley would also be related to her through his Fathers Mother. Technically as far as anyone knows Cedric is the only choice here that’s not actually related to Delphi
Every time you say "Carlin" it's super trippy, because my name is Carlen, and I'm the only Carlen I know.
MORE BATH TIME WITH BEN it bet that'll be so wholesome
Ben Fam for the win!
The money the size of hubcaps is from the camping part of the world cup. Foreign wizards were there too.
Opening with the clap farts 👏💨 Classic! ❤ 😂
Just a reminder that you guys said that you would make a whole duck in cup montage video if you both aced it but also Willhemena (or however you spell it) is actually Grubbly-Planks first name, interesting that you thought of it.
0:20 sounded like the Pixar Lamp
Day 73 of asking the SuperCarlinBrothers to please bring back Google Auto Fill videos
