iX1 xdrive on 18 inch wheels, Did 70 miles today, mixed, lazy driving, forgot to preheat. 13 degrees. 3.8 ml/kwh, 240 miles range. This is a very nice car and seems very efficient.
One reason to the good rolling is that is is not brushless motors. It have electromagnetic magnets that is turned completly off but it works like PMSM. The motor principle is called WRSM
I think the BMW iX3 efficiceny is way better than that of iX1, due to 20 inch alloy wheels against 18. now iX3 has only 19, so I would expect a better efficieny there if tested again. I have now the BMW iX3 Impressive (facelift) since 2022. I have driven so far 23.226km with overall average consumption of 18.9kwh. I find it pretty impressive so far. (WLTP 459km, last week I drove 430km: 300km highway with 120km/h).
it's like those rocker fins on 1950s cars: just when they get their biggest, they become utterly useless. Still, who remembers wanting a 1990 Ford sierra RS cosworth on account of its "whale fin" spoiler?
Hi, I am thinking of buying a iX1. How has your experience been so far? What kind of range are you getting in summers and winters with 100% charge in Skøyen?
Tesla range 👌 Tesla charging 👍. But I choose car from quality perspective and therefore I have BIG grill in my garage, iX1 ❤️. Bmw is Bmw and it will always be tight between Mercedes, Bmw, Audi and Volvo. And Tesla will just stay as huge Duracell or Ipad on wheels.
I think you already make the most thorough tests 🙏 I think you could maybe also highlight environmental footprint ? Tossing around in a big and heavy car with a bigger battery then you need for 90% of your travels should be considered I think… ix1 seems like a decent compromise in this regard Especially if you need 4wd! Decent car/battery size efficient, range without sacrificing use ability… What is the reason that you use B mode instead of the adaptive mode which is supposed to be the most efficient in mixed/motorway driving? Keep on the good work!
Hi Bjorn, I am huge fan of your channel. You helped me select ix1 as much for my car. Do you plan to test iX1 eDrive20 which is front wheel drive only. I am getting some great range and the power is good as well.
In the same range of XC40, indeed, but for 2024 Volvo changed engines, made some battery upgrades, and XC40 got almost 100km more range. I would be probably going next year for an iX1 over a XC40, but now this upgrade might be a game changer...
What is the reason that you use B mode instead of the adaptive mode to allow coasting, which is supposed to be the most efficient in mixed/motorway driving? Keep on the good work!
@@bjornnyland Ok! You would think that you should have more energy losses during recuperation compared to coasting (which feels really efficient and transmission de-coupled in all BMW’s) using the kinetic energy. I have to check myself I guess😊🙏
maybe they've kept it low to keep the ix3 appealing. Note that to get a bigger battery in their XC40 volvo had to raise the rear floor and make it worse for passengers-the BMW hasn't done that here. Maybe they will do a front wheel drive version with more battery in the back.
Ha ha ha, BMV's have alway's had their indicaters and lane discipline capabilty, auto-disabled for AH drivers, for years. If you a natural AH, BMVs can detect this and automatically prevent the cars from activating direction indictors or any form of lane dicipline whatsoever. BMV EVs are programmed exactly the same.
No iDrive controller on the iX1 - BMW definitely being cheap. When you spec up the iX1 to iX3 standard equipment there’s hardly any difference in price. Give me the iX3 every time. In fact I bought one! 😄
That was way better than I expected based on the looks
I own the M-Sport iX3 and I am very happy with it...Just on my way home fro Germany doing 120 km/h and 18.9 kw pr 100 km 👍
that's excellent efficiency !
What is your average speed for 189 Wh/km?
@@Scrap-press 70 🤣 just kiddin
Nice! Have you tested out the indicator stalks yet? OK, unfair question for a BMV driver, we have to asume there is no finger mark on that yet...😜

Of course the buying decision is based on the grill size! Bjørn, you actually should include a "grillometer" test in your reviews!
☺

Nice video. Did a spontaneous visit at Bilia, Skøyen, as I live around the corner. Will pick up my iX1 07 December.

FFS Bjorn, we BMW owners not only drive left but we NEVER INDICATE, you now need to redo the test :P

Păcat ca Volvo arata ca un pantof, cu tot update-ul vieții😅
No one pointed out the typo yet at 7:42 ?
Bjorn, are you going to test the i4 edrive35? I'm very curious about the voltage of that batery pack, is like this one with the voltage so low?
Danke!
Thank you :)
Very nicely done, always point the pinky up when drinking a sugar free beverage 😂
19:28 EQA has same range and wh/100km as the bZ4x, so the Toyota is not that bad. I think people expected to much from Toyota I guess. 😊
Ionic 6 for rolling test?
Why does your Excel say it weights 2810kg? and 1730 on front? There is a so called "Zahlendreher" :D 2810 vs 2180.
Also the weight distribution is not 38/62 but almost perfect 50/50 instead.
That's why it's called Google Sheet :))
I’m I missing something. The excel spreadsheet clearly stated that 1730 is at the rear.
@@Nowayout1804 The whole car is 2180. Watch the scale in the video.
@@pqvid I’m not talking about the whole car. Reading is fundamental.

Because B mode is as efficient as D mode.

if it has the same 74 kWh battery of the bigger brother, with a price around 49.000 euro it would have been the perfect car.
yeah, bmw need larger batteries

I'm assuming you already noticed but the values "2810/1080/1730" in the spreadsheeeeeeeeeeeeet are wrong, right? 7:40
I'm a Aiways fanboy , when are you going to make a similar test with Aiways, it's a dam good car.
Maybe for low rolling resistance, try an Ioniq 6
The rolling test down Bergshøgda🙂
This one has about the same range as Model Y standard range
Even though its old tech, would you be able to do these tests on an Aiways U5/U6?
what spec has the sunroof?
“How many wives you have” 😂

Why in Thai channel does not update the new clip. Wait to see your job.

Range is like buy a Tesla!
Waiting on q8 etron SUV range test for 50 quattro not 55which you did already

Ioniq 6 coming?
2810 or 2180 ? 😀
2810 as a light tank version :)

is it poor mans bmv
I hear the suspension and interior build/materials are worse than the iX3 and less premium

It is a fantastic car, very nice to drive and quality is great. Feels very premium. Suspension is great, drives really well - kind like a train
