    That sure sucks you couldn't find him but it happens to everyone. I had a few of these happened to me couldn't sleep through the night and thought you had to find it. I will say you had me thinking any second you were going to say there it is. Great video Papa. Thanks for sharing

    I was really hoping you would find him. You really put on a lot of leg work to find him. That was exciting to watch even though I don’t hunt. Hopefully he heals up and find him again. That’s for taking us on a wild ride Papa, that was very exciting to watch.

      Thanks brotha, your right man, but the way I see it im already wasting the morning and for me its a sin to leave an animal I could have had if I was not too lazy to put the extra effort, our duty as an outdoorsman. Appreciate you watching, Im looking into trying and get to Maine this season and track a big northern buck if possible, already got drawn for a canadian moose tag so season is shaping up. tight lines bro

      Papa Romes Outdoors tracking first snow can insane!! Alot of our biggest deer come via tracking. I know a guy, through a guy who got either a 270lb this year or last. He’s got a bunch in the 250 range. Snow is key. Let me know how that trip shapes up

I'm hoping to get to your level at some point on my channel, Boomer Ranger Ron, but I have a ways to go yet. What kind of crossbow are you using? Cool vid sucks that u did not find ur buck it is heart braking , I see a few thing I would change up that work for me but they may not work for you. Take them with a grain of salt and do as u wish.
    First thing is I would go out and buy lighted nocks I personally like nockturnals.
    Second thing is when blood gets spotty I use flagging/ribbon it’s like $2 a role keep right in my pack, it gives the the last spot of blood pulse u can follow a pattern of the deeds travel.
    And then just from all the deer and past bow kills I have learned 9 out of 10 a deer that is hit good will almost never go up hill , he will head down hill and to the nearest water.
    Also this is first I have ever seen someone take a neck shot with a bow, (not knowing if that’s where u were aiming) but in my experience i personally would never. I am for lungs and heart. I lost a huge 8 even with a perfect lung shot he Ran out of blood, first 100 yards was just as if someone took a 5 gal pail and poured it out as they walked n keep refilling then where I found my arrow feel out /blood blew my arrow out looked like a crime scene then went to spots for next 25 yard then no blood, he had mad it from a field to hard wood rig into picker bushes all going down hill to the brook. I did circles for hours and hours going back to my last spot of blood doing a and more circles trying to look at the ground different and different angles , when and got helped I knew the deer was dead but yet we could not find him. Long story short a week after I left the place I was hunting they found my deer 100 feet from my last blood, in between two big logs that where full of pickers. Because they could see my ribbon they knew it was my deer and where it was but I knew from the second I touched my trigger where that arrow was the hole time to the deer and through the wood I could see it going down the hill.
    Sorry for long post just though I’d explain it a little better.

    • @paparomesoutdoors711
      @paparomesoutdoors711  5 років тому +1

      no apology thats good to offer any help to anyone, appreciate you, Ill start from the top.
      totally agree with the lumenknocks i use them on my bow really good stuff, just dont use my crossbow as much and did not want to spend money where i didnt need to at the moment.
      flagging tape is a good use, but i cut the parts out I GPS, all my last spots that were small droplets until i can circle around to find it again because he was all over with his movements.
      totally right about most deer, even with me they almost always run down hill to water to cool, but this one lost his blood going up for some reason, but i did find water swamps up top also but he was not there as well, the blood literally sealed up I even went back for a week listening for birds nothing, i dont think he died.
      also no i did not intend on a neck shot, looked like more of the upper shoulder lower neck i thought i clipped the apex of the lung, but either way i aimed on the heart. My crossbow a week before was dead on but after a week of cocking and uncocking with the arrows they break and i was using half arrows which are too light, between those whipping my cams and me pulling my string with my fingers it set my cams off, making it shoot over a foot to the left. I wanted to put all this in, but reality is people dont want to watch any longer than they need, so i just gave them the best edited version i could. Appreciate you watching and commenting.

    Why a neck shot. And not in the vitals?

    • @paparomesoutdoors711
      @paparomesoutdoors711  4 роки тому

      good question, while pulling the crossbow up my tree the rope was hung up on a branch on the floor causing it to drop 2 feet and banging the scope. I aimed behind the shoulder, but the scope was off because of that shooting over a foot to the left. I corrected it and hit my mark this season

    Don’t understand the neck shot. Wasn’t on purpose I know, but you had a scope!!.. crap happens

      Big Red when I pulled my crossbow up I. The stand the rope wrapped around it and rolled it down hitting the scope when I sighted it in that afternoon it shot 3 feet over it was not intentional

    Why did you take a neck shot? If you would had let him step one more time you would had found him.

    • @paparomesoutdoors711
      @paparomesoutdoors711  4 роки тому

      no i had a good shot, while pulling my crossbow up that evening the string rolled up around my scope and it unraveled landing on a rock knocking it off by nearly 2 ft which is why i missed my target, the next morning i sighted it back in and was dialed in again

      @@paparomesoutdoors711 I don't find it funny that you left an animal with a hole in its neck because you didn't know what you were doing. Have some respect for the animals you hunt.

      @@wingersfan your funny I lightly bumped the scope on the tree going up it knocked it two feet off I didn’t think it was off I aimed on the heart. You need to chill out and know the facts or go join PETA

      agree, unfortunate the crossbow hung up on my rope the morning of and dropped on the scope knocking it off literally 1.5 feet or more to the left causing this miss shot placement. I re dialed it in after the hunt and it was on point

    You dont put an arrow into a deer and expect them to just heal up! Thats bad hunting practice definently wont be subscribing to your channel, maybe next time give the deer the respect and drop them with one shot! That's why we spend all the time making sure we can shoot properly, never pull the trigger unless you know, you let that buck die and decompose in the woods, bad choice why even post this video???
