Interesting they’re talking about the barbarity of Saudi Arabian capital punishment immediately before switching to coverage of 9/11, which was ordered by a Saudi national and carried out almost entirely by Saudi nationals.
Listening to this brings me right back to that morning as I drove to work at Best Buy HQ in Eden Prairie. It was impossible to comprehend, even more so when I saw the images on the TV screens at the office and wondered what would be hit next. Somehow, hearing this audio 20 years later today and reliving it with the KQ crew that I loved, is oddly comforting. It's impossible to sufficiently honor the lives that were lost and changed that day. I just hope that the kind of patriotism that Americans felt after that tragic event hasn't been lost. We need it more than ever.
Being from and living in New York at that time it’s amazing listening to other stations reactions and talking about what was going on that day it was a dark day on 9/11 still get chills when I go to the site
The comment that got me, “it couldn’t have been a big one.” Back in 01 we could have never imagined a big massive jet could have been used as a weapon.
This is how I learned about the attack on the day it happened. I was backing my work truck into a dock when Tom was saying we were under attack. I'll never forget it
Wow, this takes me back. I was driving south on France Avenue from Excelsior Blvd, on the way to Mendota Heights. Listened to the whole thing. Spent the morning trying to make a video monitor pick up TV signals and watched both buildings collapse. I was supposed to fly that afternoon. The whole country's airfleet was grounded so I didn't fly. Flew a week later, 9/18. My seatmate and I had a plan to protect the plane if there was trouble. That happened every flight for months afterwards. The morning crew figured out it was terrorism within a minute of the 2nd impact, and guessed OBL 30 seconds later.
In retrospect, yes. In the moment, 9-11 was still going on. Probably they were in shock and had more on their minds than to review the scheduled intro audios.
Wow, Isn't it eerie that he started off talking about a man having his head chopped off in Saudi Arabia and then POW, they get word about the World Trade Center.
@@minnesotom oh, so you had no idea what it was you were recording until you woke up and watched it after it had ended? That must have been a shock was it a show that you like so you just always recorded it to listen to later? The sound quality is excellent on it if it's just an amateur recording, no offense in the use of the word amateur.
@@minnesotom sorry, I probably read the description before I watched it or at the same time I watched it originally but that was a few months ago so I did not remember what it said. I'm glad you recorded it though because as far as I know this is the only record of that particular broadcast. I certainly had never seen it before I came across yours.
@@HUSSMAN129 it made the most sense though, since his terrorist actions and threats were well known and he kind of was the poster child of international terrorism at the time
Aka go home and waste your time trying to telepathically talk to your imaginary friend. There is no "god." Grow up and use some logic and critical thinking. "god" is as real as Spiderman.
This is as jarring to listen to now as it was then. I mean I wasn't listening at the time but still it brings back that feeling of shock, confusion, fear, it's crazy.
Definitely NOT pathetic. There was many many rumors that turned out to be false. It’s hard to comprehend how difficult this was to believe as it happened. Once it did, even silly rumors were believable
I would hope that this wasn't the reason for soccer type games being played on other Earth like planets, as I believe soccer like games would be the most common type found across the galaxy. (Due to their simplicity)

Yes, I mentioned that in my description.

Amazing time capsule from a time when KQ had their best crew.

Thanks for posting. The KQ crew did an amazing job reporting a tragic day in American history 🇺🇸
Was listening to this on the way to 6th grade with my mom and sister, I’ll never forget it!

Rip to all the souls lost that day.

I live in Minnesota since 1990 and this is what I heard on the radio on that day
These poor broadcasters. They were just innocently trying to make hilarious beheading jokes and then this shit happens.
Love 105 flipped immediately to all Christmas music on 9/12/2001 through 12/26/2001/
That day changed the world forever. 💔
This seems to be the closest predictions to the actual Flight 77 in any coverage pre 9:37 AM
the sound effect they use coming out of commericals @36:27 ... they should've reconsidered playing that.

2024, May - who's here listening?
Awesome coverage

Obviously the day continued after their show ended. What show or people were on next and how did they handle it? Is there a recording of that as well?
Not that I have. My recorder would turn off after the show ended. I didn't know about 9/11 until I woke up later that morning.

@@mothershelper1981 Yes, the show recorded daily - read my description. I woke to my phone ringing constantly later on.

Who was the guy who called "osama bin laden" at 8:10 ? He really nailed it
Bryce.

How did he know? Hmmmm j/k

Actually, I do.
Would love to hear what they thought about the attacks the day after.
@@mikeatthemovies2023 Good idea - I'll try to do it next Sept 12.
Cool. Thanks
No.
Did she really ask what a "fighter wing" is? Did they find her under a rock?

Never mind, I found it. 11:35 . We love Terri!
Clif High predicted this in July of that year.
Thank-you for this
God Bless Tom Barnard. God Bless America!
22:18 the Pentagon will be making a statement shortly, hmmm not so fast on that.
The guy who kept saying the Sears Tower got hit is one lousy reporter/on-air personality. Just pathetic.
It was a mistake.

And, speaking of Saudi Arabia, now this...
No No the FIRST one was an accident but the SECOND ONE,the second one was Terrorism...🙄
And we did nothing and its only gotten worse. Now we stick up for these same people who passed out candy this day.
Why hasn't this happened since?
It will once Silverstein falls behind on the payments for the replacement.
