Silver Leaves has to be one of the best songs created on Earth in my opinion. So powerful, deep, magical, emotional, awe-inspiring.
The song is beautiful, but you are even more beautiful😀
The verse in Finnish makes me shiver, dream, contemplate my life every time. My goal is to learn how to say/sing it with perfect pronunciation ❤
Vocals in the second round (8:33) with the canon-style are mindblowing! You need to listen just the vocal track to hear them properly, so many layers!
Quick question: Is "canon style" a term for the choir arrangements or something? I don't know much music theory, so I'd like to know more about it. Thanks!
@@cruciferum canon style singing for example is where one person starts to sing something, then second person starts to sing same thing but one bar behind, then third guy again one bar behind and so on. Or same stuff but with different rhythm/articulation. You can hear same kind of stuff in Sons of Winter Stars. Chekout wikipedia article: Canon (music), for better info

I know what you mean, I wasn't expecting rhythm guitars and drums in this song, but I appreciate both versions.
I agree, I'd have even been okay with the rhythm guitar and drums kicking in at 4:10 and letting just the orchestrations and vocals be heard before that. Would have made for a good build up. Or even another point a bit later in the song.

My heart breaks hearing this song. Someone dear to my past sent the whole album to me and he said he cried so hard and this song especially got to him. It’s been a long time since we were once together and I felt like the bandage was ripped off once again after so many years without each other. Words left unsaid were told to me through these words sung. 😔

Am I a crackhead or are legit chunks of this song subtle recapitulations of motivic material from When Time Fades Away or possibly even the outro to Time title track in a place or two
It's also possible that this song features various melodic references to other tracks on the album, AND you're a crackhead too.
I thought of that too. Similar progression with When time fades away, the difference is as oppose to When time fades away has vibe that epic journey is dawning, Silver leaves is closing the chapter.

Ensiferum on their 3rd album did the right thing, the intro includes melodies from half of the tracks
The best part (can't you see that I'm trying) sounds worse without the metal instruments
