USPSA is a lot different than I remember. You got a lot of unnecessary crap attached to your gun, ruining the balance. Bet you didn't even load your own ammo. Also, there are better guns than the 1911. It is an archaic design and you can push just as much power out of a 92FS. A slightly modified 92FS will shoot as accurately as a $4k 1911. The Beretta also wears more gracefully. I have plenty of experience loading and shooting major from both.
But the real secret to accuracy, other than personal skill, is the ammo. If your ammo has an SD of more than 10 (literally all factory ammo), it is crap. My 9mm Major load uses a Berry's 124gr THP and 5.5gr Silhouette for 186PF from a 92FS with a velocity SD under 6. It also has less recoil and doesn't exceed +P spec. This is why the oldtimers used cast bullets to do this. Easier on the gun, easier on the shooter and easier to hit the target. They also didn't need to throw a bunch of garbage on the gun to do it. Elmer Keith could make shots at 600yd with a stock 4" revolver.
At this kind of range, a competent pistol shooter doesn't even need sights. You just use point shooting technique, which I don't think you've ever even heard of.
Plated bullets will keep you from having to spend so much time cleaning your gun, while keeping pressures down and ensuring better engagement of the rifling than any jacketed bullet could ever achieve.
I've fired 650ft-lb loads from a Kimber Target II stainless and it recoiled less than your gun does here. And I didn't have a compensator on it.
