I think these stories are so important for so many reasons and it shows how the mind/body connection can influence such a vast array of symptoms! So brave for this young lady to share her story! Very powerful! Thank you!
I think TMS is simply anxiety expressing itself physically through the body. This story is very helpful to me, have had every symptom she mentioned and more. Amazing what the brain can do. Excellent video, thank you!
I hadn't seen someone say this but I've been thinking it a lot. For a long time I thought of my TMS and my anxiety as two different problems, but TMS is just anxiety symptoms.
I think you're right in most cases. However, with Covid as in this case there was a genuine fear of something quite real --- a worldwide pandemic worse than anything since the flu of 1918-20. The fear was quite real, whereas anxiety is fear for no reason of something safe. No-one could feel completely safe with Covid, so the fear often became trapped in the body. Only if fully felt, expressed, and processed could people deal with such an overwhelming example of the world becoming truly unsafe for a time.
Just Wow! So glad I found this video today.... The BEST recovery interview I've seen and I've watched a good few! This could be me... Struggling for too many years to count but really in a bad place at the moment... I cried listening to this. Have just bought the audio version of the book DARE that was mentioned. Going to listen now. I will also be keeping this video to watch over and over... Big Big Thank you to both of you for making this! 🙏💞
What a powerful story of persistence, patience and ultimately triumph! Belle, I would love to send a couple of my students your way. You have a lot to offer clients with your psychotherapy background and personal recovery story! And Jim, thanks for all the healing and hope you spread in the world!
Absolutely LOVE this ❤ I overcame a 7 year anxiety disorder by using the techniques from books such as DARE and At Last A Life by Paul David. I lived a life free from anxiety for 6 years before getting Covid, which has ended up with me having Long Covid for over 2 years now. Your symptoms were almost exactly the same as the ones I have. I'm currently 4 weeks away from giving birth and my pregnancy has been rough to say the least, but when my baby is born, I will be embarking upon my commitment to my recovery journey. Thanks so much for sharing this inspiring story ❤
That was AWESOME!! Determination! I've always been a determined person but I've lost it someplace in the midst of 20 years of struggling. Thank you Belle for helping me find it again!! I want my life back!! I'll borrow it from you for awhile 😉. Here I go!!! ♥️😊
Such a similar story & similar symptoms. Amaaazing, resilient woman! ❤❤ It’s so tricky to work around the medical symptom when you know about the mindbody connection. Good job working through that, my goodness. Great work Jim! Thank you both for this incredible success story.
That’s what I’m finding with this journey. There are no shortcuts or secret sauces. You keep at it & keep at it from a compassionate & resilient place.
This was a very powerful interview. I’m so happy that Belle has fully recovered and is able to be there again for her family. She’ll be able to teach her kids how to overcome fear, which is such an important lesson. I can really relate to her behavioural fear, especially leaving her comfort zone.
Thank you for your experience. I relate very much with your story. Crazy stuff. I was reading TMS book by E. Sarno and the main focus is anger. But in my case I instinctly knew that fear was a bigger driver. And this conversation highlighted that. Anger is a better place to be than fear. I find anger a great motivator also. And source of good energy. It's not anger against the world, but anger towards getting better and doing the right things.
What an inspiring interview! It really connects so many dots that are crucial for Mind-Body conditions. The anxiety and underlying emotions, trauma, coping mechanisms, and how to overcome it. Many thanks!!
It’s the third time over the course of my life I experience this condition. This time it’s LC ( the virus was the cherry on the cake). All of the times it was triggered by extreme (health) anxiety. I really wonder why it hasn’t been taken into serious account by the health care system and treat it gracefully as a mental health condition by applying mind body or other similar interventions… Great interview and so relatable ❤
Great recovery story. I admire your strength, resiliance and determination. Fantastic work. Im currently on a very similar journey - 2 years in. Thanks Jim and Belle Would love to check out your website Belle if its ready 👍🏻
I can relate to her story. All my anxiety started with heart palpitations along with hpylori infection over five years ago. The infects cleared but unfortunately the heart palpitations never went away. They scare the life out of me. I’ve been cleared by multiple cardiologist. I’m now currently dealing with PPPD like symptoms. My vision and brain seem to not be on the same page. I feel off especially when I look from one thing to another. Such an awful feeling along with other symptoms like dry eyes and blurry vision. HELP!
I’ve been pushing myself lately going to far places doing yard work on a hot day little by little but like she said I’ve feel I got knocked out been like this for the past days I got this !
Thank you for sharing! I realized that there were a bunch of things I didn't want to be doing recently, and it was important for me to say no, and only do what I wanted to. I can't live my life for others any more. I just had an extinction burst after 2 weeks of facing EVERYTHING! But I'm here. Thank you! ❤
@32:50 you talk about continueing, but when you have massive anxiety or a crash with insomnia, it's kinda hard to 'keep going', like what do you do in such moments?
You’re story and symptoms are so much like mine. I also catastrophize all symptoms because I have health anxiety due to a childhood medical trauma. But instead of long haul Covid, I’m going through benzodiazapine withdrawal/tapering. I, too, am unable to walk due to fears and lack of safety issues. I actually thought I was dying while walking in an area where I couldn’t see my house from. I can walk as long as I can see my house, but not more than that. I also have POTS and about 20 other health issues. I’m often practically bed ridden and housebound. I actually think I’m now agoraphobic due to the terror of C@v!d. Jim, I’m wondering if you have helped anyone who is tapering off benzos?
Yes I have. Quite a few people who have tapered off benzos. To me sounds like you have to keep gradually confronting and moving through the anxiety. I would focus on that
@@thepainpt could it be both? I believe I was put on a benzo for insomnia which was due to TMS which I now feel I have had on and off my entire life but had a final crash years ago that included full body nerve pain and than I was taken off the benzo cold turkey in the middle of that. It has been 6 years and although better still suffering quit alot. I get confused as to what is causing the symptoms because they are so similar or maybe it is the same thing at this point?
I had a medical trauma at 13. Brain tumour and then got an eating disorder. Mirror symptoms. Didn’t process the trauma. Same manifestation. Am I able to contact you directly? Then I had CFS. Your determination is fantastic. Thank you. Rachael , Northampton. UK.
Great recovery story Belle. Did you go to a therapist to deal with the emotional side? Or did you just work with Jim? Just wondering how you resolved and understood and processed the emotions from the early trauma. Thank you if you can reply.
Wow!! Such a great success story. I am really struggling with this. I think I have had TMS symptoms since I was a child. I have suffered with anorexia, depression, health anxiety and now chronic widespread pain and panic disorder. I have been in therapy all my life and nothing really helped. I can relate to her story a lot. I can't afford any TMS coach. I did do the curable group boot camp last year but I still am stuck. The fear is so bad.
You can do this you just have to get over your fear one day at a time. Remember it’s just anxiety there’s no danger in any of these symptoms. If you’re interested in my groups you get a lot of support over the month for the cost of one session
what a fabulous success story - may i ask if you have worked with anyone with vax injury ? i have severe neuropathy post booster and have been trying to heal it for 16months now
Im 70. Unvaxed. Had covid jan 2022. Feet were numb. 17 months ea day mild but ea day. Now its worse burning numb and creeping up. I had prostatitus in 2015. My feet went numb too. I discovered TMS!
