Vicky Lawrence may have sung the original. Tell you the truth I couldn't understand the story as she told it. But Reba took it to a whole other level. And for that thank you I'm sure Vicky Lawrence loved this rendition of her song . And how you brought it to life.
You know I have loved this song for many years but I am just now seeing the actual video to it and it just makes it a million times better. Love her music and love the story telling and videos that go with them.

When we found out she had cancer again I would play I'm a survivor for her knowing that it was one of her favorite songs by you. Her story so interesting u see she avoided some kind of accident I think her road manager went down in a plane crash interesting I need to see that story again
I have to say I grew up listening to Mrs Reba. Her music always tells a story and her voice always soars. I can't pick just one artist as a favorite because there were too many awesome artists out when I was young. But I guess my 2 favs would be Reba and The Judds. I learned to sing by listening to them all, but those 2 I had to get perfect. If inward able to sing with Reba on stage or just messing around I would be the happiest woman in the world. There's not many of her songs I don't kmow. I love u Reba and thank u for being such a passionate artist
can I just say the old age makeup on Reba is AMAZING! The lighting and camera angles hide the edges well, but her acting sells the character, making her look the part

I'm listening to an entire playlist of 90s country. Before they used to be childhood memories, but after going through ringers, God knows how many times as an adult. Now I understand the lyrics and what these people are singing about, it's almost tragic.
Alls I know that I used to sing this song at the top of mylungs word for word, as a little girl. Now as a grown woman I canr believe how dark this song is. This could happen in any small town America. I feel there are more guilty people convicted than innocent people, however the line "Cuz the judge in the towns got bloodstains on his hands" hits hard because there are many a people that are failed by the lack of help that they recieve from them and the only thing they are guilty of is asking for help in first place. 😢
Been loving this song for years and still can’t tell you the plot. All I know is that its the night when the lights went out in Georgia and that’s all that matters. It’s like a Bible verse, who knows what’s going on but we repeat them anyway
Her fiance was sleeping with her brother Raymond's wife, so when she found out she shot both the wife and her fiance. Raymond was coming home from away when he learned from the bartender that his wife was sleeping with everybody in town, including the bartender. Raymond walked home in grief, and he walked in on Reba killing the two lovers. He took the blame, and when Reba tried to protest the judge sentenced Raymond anyways because the judge was trying to cover up his own involvement with Raymond's wife Edit: at least, that's the full plot of the music video. The song lyrics imply that Raymond (who is unnamed) was creeping up to kill a man named Seth Amos when he discovered that his sister had already killed them both.
I grew up in the georgia woods, my granddad (i call him pawpaw) took care of me, and taught me to be a welder and carpenter, I miss being a kid and working in his shop to this music. Now I live in oklahoma and thanks to my granddad I have a life.

Dominick Villella music still has a story
@MsUn PC your music sucks, you dont even know how much music has evolved.
Dominick Villella Luke combs kinda tells a story
Vicky Lawrence may have sung the original. Tell you the truth I couldn't understand the story as she told it. But Reba took it to a whole other level. And for that thank you I'm sure Vicky Lawrence loved this rendition of her song . And how you brought it to life.
You know I have loved this song for many years but I am just now seeing the actual video to it and it just makes it a million times better. Love her music and love the story telling and videos that go with them.
My mom loved your music so much that she would play it every day , she would even watch your show. When we found out she had cancer again I would play I'm a survivor for her knowing that it was one of her favorite songs by you. She also loved Fancy and would ask me to sing it to her while playing it for her to listen to, your music inspires me every day to be who I want to be and that's a singer and song writer along with my little sister even if we aren't the best singers
@Reba McEntire That's pretty neat if you're the real Reba McEntire. :)
That's great your support is what keeps me going so in return I've decided to give something back to my fans by setting up an interactive community and i would love for you to join it will make me happy 😊.
Her story so interesting u see she avoided some kind of accident I think her road manager went down in a plane crash interesting I need to see that story again
@@troydixzon9771 Okay so I use this certain "Hangouts" app for the community it was recommended by my IT expert are you familiar with it?
I have to say I grew up listening to Mrs Reba. Her music always tells a story and her voice always soars. I can't pick just one artist as a favorite because there were too many awesome artists out when I was young. But I guess my 2 favs would be Reba and The Judds. I learned to sing by listening to them all, but those 2 I had to get perfect. If inward able to sing with Reba on stage or just messing around I would be the happiest woman in the world. There's not many of her songs I don't kmow. I love u Reba and thank u for being such a passionate artist
I love this song and this music listen to it since i was a kid 50s 60s 70 80s 90s best country music ever
That chorus is addictive
😢
Yuss
can I just say the old age makeup on Reba is AMAZING! The lighting and camera angles hide the edges well, but her acting sells the character, making her look the part
Yeah I wonder how long she was in makeup for this music video.
Reba keeping tha old country alive !!!! Nobody can do it like REBA !!!!!! I loved it when I was a lil gurl and Vicky sang it but Noooo body can do it BETTER than tha queen !!!! Love you REBA!!!!!!

Hello how are you doing today 😊😊
i wish she did more music like this and fancy
Totally agree
Erin Martin It's kind of funny that they're so popular, because neither of these songs are originally Reba's, but she did such a great job with them.
agreed
+LisaBaby67 The lights went down in Georgia was originally sung by vicki Lawrence. And Fancy written and sung by Bobbie Gentry
Finn Aluveaux I know. I said they weren't Reba's originally.
Love the soap opera theme
Thanks 😊 so much for the love and support ❤️🩹 comments like this are priceless …Are you one of my great fans out there?
I heard this song today on the radio. I truly forgot about this song. ❤
One of the best country songs of all time. Reba tells rich great stories in her songs. Love em.
Queen of country always pulls you into her songs; she's amazing.
Soft and pure in heart, Hi how are you doing?
Isn't that true though. My husband was in love with her and all of her music. She's just got that special something you don't always find easily.
I've never really considered her to be Country. Just one of the singers I've enjoyed hearing and looking at.
This song has always given me the chills! Love Reba!
Hope the virus didn't affect you and your family?
Life ended more than once in
Now. This is me!!
This is my song for my brother. I AM THAT LITTLE SISTER that wouldn't miss...
God bless you
LMAO!!! That is sooo my little sister!
Exactly how I feel about my brother’s ❤️
I am my brother's little sister and I would do the same.
Me too
Reba was not the original singer of this song! And I do remember the original. But she absolutely did this song Justice!
Agreed that Reba’s version is better but Vicki Lawrence’s original was good too.
I love the way Vicki Lawrence sings this, I been listening to it since my mom introduced me to it. I absolutely love Reba and how she took this song & ran with it. In results Reba made a music video that brings more life to the song. I got Vicki on my iTunes & Reba in my playlist, best of both worlds.
Happy valentine Day love Becky
Hello Rebecca.. how are you doing?
I would do the same for my sisters. In a heartbeat.
Definitely I would too
I don't even wanna know what I would do to some maggot, around on any of my siblings...
I’d do the same for my little brother!
Your sisters should be very proud to have you as a brother! 👍🏻
@@bellerain381 Thank you.
Reba's version of this is by far the best. So chilling and haunting
Am so impressed and thanks 🙏 my beloved fan! 🥰 merry Christmas 🎁
Reba is amazing. Honestly, I don't know if there is a better artist. Many tell stories but not like Reba..
Shes amassing ❤❤❤❤❤!
One of my favorites by Reba...Reba has a unique way of telling a story in her songs with body language and facial expressions...she's beautiful inside and out and so very talented...that's why she is such a good actress...Reba doesn't have to try or put much effort to singing or acting...she is a natural...love you Reba...
we have Bobbie Gentry who deserves much thank for that
One of a kind woman that can sing and tell a story. She's always been a role model to me love the country in her, her voice is sooo amazing.
Hello Julie how are you doing!!
Reba Mc Entire I Just Love Her Music The Night The Light's Whent Georgia Love That Song , Any Thing She Sings
I'm listening to an entire playlist of 90s country. Before they used to be childhood memories, but after going through ringers, God knows how many times as an adult. Now I understand the lyrics and what these people are singing about, it's almost tragic.
2021 and still loving Reba & her amazing voice♥️
Hello Shelley how are you doing!!
2022
Same in 2023! 🔥
2023 and a half! 😁
2023 here
Alls I know that I used to sing this song at the top of mylungs word for word, as a little girl.
He took the blame, and when Reba tried to protest the judge sentenced Raymond anyways because the judge was trying to cover up his own involvement with Raymond's wife
Edit: at least, that's the full plot of the music video. The song lyrics imply that Raymond (who is unnamed) was creeping up to kill a man named Seth Amos when he discovered that his sister had already killed them both.
Reba is probably the best story teller in music period
This was the best concert. The customs changes were beautiful. And Reba was wonderful!
Wow thanks for the comments and I really appreciate your love fan 🥰🙏 merry Christmas 🎄
Seeing this preformed live last night was absolutely amazing the fire works from the gun shot where awesome
It’s amazing…. How she knew how to sing this song…… it still takes me by surprise……….. Lord have mercy….🙏🏻
Maybe she took a cue from the original recording by Vicki Lawrence in 1972.
Hello dear how are you doing? I wish you a great day
My 12yearold Aussie loves this song 😊 when he hears it he turns back into a puppy.❤ Thank you Reba ,I love you so much 💞💕💕💕💕💕💕
This gives me chills. I got my 8 and 6 year old girls singing this 💃🏾
Hey there , how are you doing?
No one tells the story better then my friend Reba
I grew up in the georgia woods, my granddad (i call him pawpaw) took care of me, and taught me to be a welder and carpenter, I miss being a kid and working in his shop to this music. Now I live in oklahoma and thanks to my granddad I have a life.
AMEN
She did a good cover of Vicki Lawrence ' s song. Vicky Lawrence sang this song before Reba did because her husband wrote the song and she said since you can't get anyone to sing it I will
I’m a Black Brother from the hood and I can’t take this song off REPEAT!!! NO such thing as Black or White Music!! This is just Pure Damn GREAT Music❤❤🔥🔥🔥Well DONE MRS Reba!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🏆🏆🏆🏆❤❤❤🗣🗣🗣❤❤❤❤❤👠

The original song had been sung by Vicki Lawrence in 1973, I believe. You should check that out now!
