  • Beehive stones are rock formations, cone-shaped stone towers with niches and other depressions carved into their sides. Beehive stones are the so-called belongs to the phenomenon group "marked stones". It presents the natural and cultural historical values of the Szomolyai Kaptárkövek Nature Reserve. The beehive stone group with the largest number of niches in Hungary (117 units) can be found here! Huptárkövek's material is mostly easy-to-work, chiselable rhyolite tuff. The quarry opened in 1958 on the Kaptárkövek rock range in Somolya caused serious damage. Hive stones are mystical, special, mysterious formations. Hive stones are Hungarians.
