Just to put into perspective how much more important boot camp promotions are in the grand scheme of things...I came in as an E-1, promoted in boot camp to E-2, and made E-5 in 2 and a half years in the Navy since I was eligible for promotions to E-3 and E-4 a lot earlier than I would've been. This was huge since it meant more pay, BAH, and more respect ultimately.
Im about to join the Navy and I will get this. I said it so I have to actually get it now 😂. But I agree I wish there was a better reward than a ribbon that just makes you get fun of.
In terms of boot camp it doesn't matter at all what rating you chose but after that you'll go to whatever A school your rating has. I don't really have any specific information for you that you can't google besides that they're a very proud and hard working community, and it's a great choice if you're willing to work hard.
My boyfriend is in Navy Boot camp right now and got E-3. (Or is getting E3 when he graduates. It wasn’t clear in his letter) he’s graduating in a few weeks. Did things change? I’m not sure how the ranks work or how they earn them.
If you joined as an E-3 you're paid as an E-3 from day 1, if you join as an E-1 but make E-2 during training like me they pay you as an E-2 from that point forward
It's all multiple choice tests, after classes that go into detail on each subject. Firefighting, naval history, stuff like that. It's not Harvard Law School, very few people, if any, will fail. But very few will get over 95%, which is where the honor graduate and honor promotion come in.
@@HaedenBeck ahhh okay gotcha, not too thrilled about it being a lot on in class work but i guess you have to do what you have to do i guess. do they have you work out after giving you all the shots ? only asking because 9/10, after shots your body will be sore and you’ll most likely get nauseous, well i know i do sadly
@@YNSNAnderson In my division we got all our shots and the next day had a fitness test so people got like 10-15 pushups because their arms were so sore LOL
Wow, the navy has gotten pathetic. Honor grad used to come with a CAP, now they give you a ribbon that you will never wear. A BS award instead of a pay raise, ridiculous...

I graduated RTC in 2007 and was an honor grad. There was no such ribbon at that time. Too bad they don't award them retroactively.
In those days, honor grad recruits were promoted one paygrade unless already E-3.
That's the way it should be, not a ribbon.

That's false, if you go onto the RTC Facebook page you see every week they announce the new recipients and there's photos of them wearing it.
