- The new CGC/JSA Signature Authentication slabs are here! I sent off two books that I had signed by the creators personally sent off to CGC to test out the new signature authentication service they are newly offering after their purchase of JSA.
We are going to unbox them and find out if they were authenticated or not, and what grade they were given!
You can find the shirt I'm wearing at this link!

The JSA signature labels look very nice! Congratulations!
Thank pal! They are pretty sharp! I'm happy all around with how it all turned out.
Came over from watching you chatting with Glen on "The comic book palace" video, great chilled attitude you got. I don't even collect/buy comics from any age, i buy Heavy Metal magazines though (kind of comic i suppose)
Just think the guys and gals in the comic community are top, well the majority who are humble like yourself. Those that are in it for the quick flip and profit i have no interest.
Actually learnt stuff from "Jerry the Jitterbug" channel with fixing some tears
Very cool, thank you! I always enjoy being on Glen's show. I've been going there for 22 years!
I used to LOVE Heavy Metal back in the late '80s and early '90s. I probably have a bunch kicking around I come across once in a while.
Very nice books and great shirt 😀
Thank you very much!
If you dig it you can grab it here!

Great vid! (Know of but never read Groo.) I’ve a number of Flaming Carrots that Burden signed for me at several conventions, so been planning to send those in like you did. Glad to see they came through well!
Hell yeah, that's awesome! If you get them slabbed, try to remember to let me know how they came out!
Eclipse for groo I think
🎉
Wonderful video.
I always wondered who the “experts” are that authenticate signatures. What training do they undergo to qualify as an expert?
I LOVE that Groo issue. I still have the first, second, and third issues…another of my treasured books.
BTW…I just got my FIRST CGC submission back yesterday. It’s a Dark Knight Returns #1 witnessed and autographed by Klaus Janson and then submitted to CGC for a Frank Miller signing. Anyway, I got a 9.8! I’m ecstatic to get my first graded book come back as a 9.8 AND get it signed! AND it was my original copy bought back in 1986 when I was a teen.
HO. LY. SH. IT.
You have a Dark Knight #1 in a 9.8 that will be signed by Janson AND Miller??? ARE YOU FUCKING FUCKING WITH ME??
@@SwarmofComics
Isn’t this the part of collecting that adds that extra thrill outside of the reading? Copper Age…great time to have been a fan/collector.
@@txmoney the absolute best part of that story is that it was YOUR copy you bought as a kid. That's just unbelievable. I'm not joking when I tell you that gives me chills.
@@SwarmofComics
Thanks. Most of my collection was purchased by me at cover price when they were originally published. However, I sold/donated the majority of it. I’m down to about five hundred of my favorite books…most of which were from the ‘80’s. And nearly all in pristine condition.
I just started grading, starting with Dark Knight Returns #1. I’m considering grading the other three issues from Dark Knight Returns series as well. I currently have a handful of my other favorite books being cleaned/pressed for grading. Even with only around five-hundred books left in my collection, I would go broke getting them all graded. So I have to be extra discerning. But I’m having fun!
@@txmoney as you might have heard me talk about in some videos, almost my entire collection was books I bought originally when they came out, or from the cheapy back issue bin in the '80s. I never purchased a "big boy book" until Dec '22.
And like you, I sold most everything. Saved 500 or 600 books. But....now I'm getting deep again with these slabs and auctions 😬
the labels look very cool, loving that GI Joe. Congrats bud
Thank my man! I think they look pretty cool, similar to the other signature series, but just different enough.
excite!!
The algorithms thank you!
Cool to preserve those memories, and getting 9.6s! The signed GI Joe I imagine is worth a few hundred dollars.
Yeah, I was totally surprised by that GI Joe being worth that! Such a great way to display and preserve the memories, and they were both awesome people when I got the signatures.
Thanks for another great video! I have several comics signed but not witnessed by CGC so I'm curious about this process with JSA.
I say take the plunge! It worked out well for me....but it's a gamble. You could get the double whammy of a bad grade AND not authenticated, and still pay the price.
@@SwarmofComicsHaha yea that's what I'm worried about. I'm just enjoying them raw atm so I'll hold off until I get the bug and maybe let CGC figure out all the kinks with the new process. But man it's so nice CGC finally has this option.
@@gregparker7163 agreed, it's just nice to know that the option is there. I'm not a signature guy, so I don't have any more to get graded, so it was worth taking the chance. No one is faking Larry Hama's signature 😆
I thing Joe is on Image now because their skybound imprint had all the energon universe stuff that's separate. Also not related, but there was a Dutch mini series that lead into a new Blood Squad Seven. Very good reads.
You don't get better than naming a team BLOOD SQUAD SEVEN.
And yes, I've been reading a few of the Energon books, like Cobra Commander, and I just picked up Scarlett, but haven't ready it yet.
@SwarmofComics haven't read Scarlett yet either but I'm just assuming that it's going to be great.
@@WilliamMercier I've hearing good things about Scarlett. I haven't read DUKE yet, or the GI Joe book. I really just wanted to read Cobra Commander...but I think I'm getting sucked into the Energon universe, and I'm trying to stop it.
Bronze Age Bill approves of this video!
BRONZE AGE BILL RIDES AGAIN!!!
Labels look great. Congrats on grade. I got one heading to CGC now for verification.
Hell yeah! Try to remember to let me know what happens with the book when you get it back, I'd love to know!
@@SwarmofComics I will try to remember to update when it arrives.
@@skytripa I'm excited for you!
@@SwarmofComics I also can’t wait. One I sent is Venom Lethal Protector 5 signed by Sam De La Rosa. Found in a lcs back in the 90s i am almost 100% sure it’s legit. I also have a Battlestar Galactica #1 signed by Richard Hatch that I need to send off eventually. That one could go either way.
@@skytripa WOW, a Hatch signed BSG, I'm super jealous! It was my favorite show in the late '70s!
Thumb up #48
Thank you!
⚡💥🎉🏁
I couldn't have said it better myself! 😅
@@SwarmofComics very nice books!
Heyyyy...that name sounds familiar...
Congrats on the grades. I have the complete run of crisis on infinite earths signed by George Perez but not sure if I will send them in for the sig verification. That would be a lot of money and I'm not sure if any of them are 9.8 candidates. The new labels do look pretty nice. Are you from the N.E area? You mentioned Boston comic con and Granite con. Just asking become I live in the N.E. area. 👊🏼
Yes, I live in New England! I assumed my accent would give that away, ha!
That's insane, the entire run autographed by Perez?? That might be a one of a kind! It would certainly be expensive. I can't remember offhand, but I THINK it was like $50 or $60 per book.
Congrats on the verifications. I am not sure what to say about the 9.6 grades.
Thank you! Not idea what made the difference between a 9.8 and a 9.6. There are no graders notes.
I know I always mention that I don't care about the grades, per se, but it doesn't mean I think they deserve what they get. I feel like I sound hypocritical when I talk about it, lulz. I just mean I didn't submit them to get a particular grade, but it would be nice if they were accurate.
Anyway, enough of my babbling, THANK YOU!
Yeah, 9.6s are like the red-headed stepchildren of CGC. I’ve a number of them, too, and don’t see the reasons. Sigh.
That being said, I don’t plan on being a slab buyer, but if I do, probably worth saving some bucks and buying 9.6s lol🎉
