    Sickest back arch at 0:46! His head is nearly touching his feet. Gorgeous!

  • @thethirdman225

    Here are some basics for a 2.35m jump. The athlete will usually approach off between 8 and 12 strides. The last three to five strides will proscribe an arc that will allow him to take advantage of angular momentum in order to travel across the bar. At the point of take off, he will be travelling at between 7.5 and 8 metres per second. In his last stride, for a period of approximately 120-160 milliseconds, his take off foot will exert a pressure of about 650 kg. That's how they get so high.

    Jesse Williams and Stefan Holm have the most beautiful form

    • @thethirdman225
      @thethirdman225 3 роки тому

      Both small for high jumpers. Holm co-holds the world record for the greatest height over his head (59 cms). The other guy was Franklin Jacobs in the 1970s. Holm is 1.81 cms and has jumped 2.40. Jesse Williams is 1.83 and has done 2.36.

    It is evident from Javier Sotomayor’s last three steps on this jump. Sotomayor is very familiar with straddle approach conversion phase mechanics.

    Hey there, You can actually increase 2-4 inches in vertical leap in just two weeks by simply following the correct training system & have a good eating plan. My friend gained 9 inches in only 12 weeks and today he can 360 dunk with two hands.

    • @thethirdman225
      @thethirdman225 3 роки тому

      Aaaah... that's what it _looks_ like, yes. The reality is that these guys get a really long way off the ground before anything else happens. So the goal is to _jump high._ What you do after that is up to you. Big back arches look spectacular but they don't contribute all that much. Almost all the work is done on the ground.

    As you can all see, “high jump” is a misnomer. There is no jumping. Instead you use one of your legs as a pole to rotate forward speed into upward speed. So “leg vault” is a better term. The secret to high jumping is not to jump!
    How Zen is that...

    Anyone here who can supply me with some help with high jump? Comment below. I can jump 1 metre 20 and I'm confident I can go higher. I have the speed and technique but I'm jumping way too far from the bar which results in me knocking it off.

    • @LilRondo101
      @LilRondo101 8 років тому

      You want your takeoff point to be an arms length from the bar. So stand an arms length from the bar and do your run up backwards(as in start from the bar and run out your steps to find your correct starting point).

    • @lollivia8806

      Hi Niyah. I've just published some high jump training tips that you can view here. highjump.club/category/high-jump-blog/
      If you are jumping too far from the bar, then bring in your runup by one or 2 foot lengths. Hopefully this will help. :)
