When you already think Band-Maid puts more into one song than anyone else; then you find out you were only hearing half. What the actual fuck. Who else can blow your mind with a song you've already heard dozens of times? Awesome in every sense of the word. Thank you.
@1:06 hahaha the message from Kanami should have said: "Dear Ryan, see you on the US tour. You have to buy a vip ticket because we have to discuss a license to sell your T-shirt worldwide."
One positive thing about Covid is that I was limited in my activities which gave me time to start watching UA-cam more than usual. This is where I found Band-Maid. This group of blessed musicians have rejuvenated me. Their songs bring me back to my younger days..... I can listen to many genres of music. However, I can only listen to each specific genre for a short time before my ears get fatigued. ...Band-Maid gives me multiple differing genres in each song so that "personally" I can listen to them for a long time. Their songs have a high degree of re-listenability. Now I can enjoy the good old vibes from my younger days but with a modernized take by Band-Maid. Every reactor who listens to Band-Maid has that happy grin...just like me.
Goddamn . . ! 😳 Every time I think, "I've heard this song a hundred times and know it like the back of my hand", BAND-MAID drops an instrumental version, and I realize I don't know a thing about that song. You can never overestimate BAND-MAID. They will ALWAYS surprise you. Bunch of sonic ninjas, I tell ya!
Used to listen to instrumentals when I was younger. But damn this is a whole new level of musicality and technicality. I just found this band yesterday. And I've been on a total binge for the last 48 hours. I love how open this band is to share their music in every way possible. Love them more and more! Thanks for your reviews. Please try playing some of the songs!
I've yet to read the interviews with the members of staff but it was so cool to have them included in this masterpiece. Listen out for the sound of the clock ticking.....
And this ladies and gentlemen is a video about Ryan Mear when he is VERY happy! Enjoy it, Ryan... It is great... And yes, they dont have to do that sh***, but they enjoy it and wanna spoil their fans :)
Man! I love Saiki, her voice is perfect, but listening to the song without her voice is something magical. Being able to hear exactly what is going on in the head of that genius of Kanami has a whole other effect
I've always appreciated the DVD extras that came with the limited edition Albums. I have them all and it's great to hear and see the music only. Like you said, I love Saiki more than any other vocalist in the world, and Miku's choruses and leads are outstanding. But as a musician I really like to learn how the song was crafted and played, which is easier without vocals :-)
I feel like I made a mistake by not purchasing this... My order may or may not arrive today. The package did arrive in Los Angeles though! The "Warning!" instrumental is incredible. As you pointed out, in the beginning there is a melody that was hidden, I did not pick up on it at all.
u know they're musician when they really need to make a dedicated scorebook of their own song, and also record the instrumental part for a better understanding. thank u miku, kanami, misa, akane and saiki for the hardworking every single year
holy crap, you're right! there's soooo much more underneath Saiki and Miku's voices than I thought there was. And I thought there was a lot! And I'm a long time Band maid fan. UW is truly a masterpiece. Their previous stuff was good, wel thought and insanely well played.... But UW's complexity is off the charts. You reacting llike a 5 years old at Christmas also made my day lol
Just in what you played of Warning!, there is NOTHING redundant in what they do but also that everything also stands by itself. Even though I already knew it - genius.
It seems like there's always another great melody under the vocal melody. I've been listening to the instrumental melody under the Domination vocals recently, and to my non-musician ears I can't understand how it works. I'd be really interested in what kind of a mix Saiki has for her in-ear monitors when they play live. It seems like some of the melodies that Kanami plays would be confusing to the singer since they are often totally different than the vocal melodies. I wonder if Kanami is low in her personal mix. Somehow it works perfectly when combined, but I don't understand how Kanami comes up with this stuff. It has to involve some kind of musical calculus that I'll never understand.
Watching you open this today got me wondering where mine was. I thought I ordered it but couldn't find proof/email of any order and went to the Band-Maid shops to see if I could still order this - they are no longer selling them or are sold out. I quick ran to CD Japan and found they are still available there, and immediately ordered one. Literally 20 minutes later I got a knock at the front door... yes it just arrived. LOL Now I'll have one to look through and play, and one to keep sealed. Good sale for the band either way. And I must say, on the instrumental CD there are a **LOT** of background notes/vocals that you can't hear during the normal songs. And the interviews in the book are awesome, including all of the behind-the-scenes workers (lighting, video, mixing...). This book is definitely worth getting for anyone that has any interest in Band-Maid, whether you play an instrument or not.
The score book is worth it alone. I've just read the staff interviews first- great insite into what goes on around the band and their first takes on the band members are very interesting. I got the sleeve and the CD too but because they cropped the image on the CD cover there is no title on it- but hey! The only thing missing is all the tech stuff, but all this and more can be found in Band Maid, The Day Before World Domination, Shinka Music Mook Gigs Presents, 2019. Great clear photos of all the band gear and band members and more. Cost JPY I,800.
Wonderful Ryan, your joy is a delight and yes "insane" and "freakin awesome", Band Maid = Pure Class ! Enjoy your studies at Band Maid Musical University 🤗 Have a great weekend everyone, Peace and Love Po 👍🎼🥁🎤🎸🍻
Well, THAT convinced me to order the songbook this weekend. Half of "Warning" sounds like A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FREAKIN' SONG! Question: "Has Band-Maid blown your mind this week?" Answer: "Duh". Much appreciated, Ryan! 🕊
I'm not a guitar player although I have an acoustic and electric guitars at home (from my highschool days). I can hold few chords and play a scale or two... I was debating should I buy the score, was it worth to me since I would not learn almost anything in it, are only interviews worth it... But after hearing just this snippet of Warning... I went to PONYCANYON's page and ordered one immediatelly! I solemnly promise I will never doubt again. PS I'm an IT guy and I don't have CD nor DVD player at home I don't need one... I guess I need to buy an cheep external USB one so I can transfer the music to PC.. oh well.
I was hesitant to order it. I did not know an instrumental version of Unseen World was included. It is in itself worth evrything, it's priceless. The Unseen World regular album is already a castle made of gems, but the instrumental version will reveal the jewelry behind. Right after watching your video, I placed a purchase order. Well done Mr Mear.
The instrumental CD is a completely new album. And after listening to it, it is a different feeling to go back and listen to the Unseen World album. The same work has multiple satisfactions, this is Band-Maid!
Thanks for playing one off of the CD Ryan. Warning sounded so awesome as an instrumental. It pains me that I can't really afford all of this cool Band-Maid stuff right now.
I haven't got mine yet, so great to see the unboxing Ryan. I couldn't order it from Pony Canyon as they neither liked my email OR my card.....so it is coming from CD Japan. I am not a musician so I won't get as much out of as you, but still wanted the CD and the interviews. I have been lucky enough to see them twice and met them both times too.....even exchanging greetings with Kanami and an arigato po to Miku as she signed my poster 2019....and my photo taken with them (along with a few other fans) 2018....hopefully they will be back in the UK this year.
I immediately had to go listen to the live version of Warning! and... son of a bitch, that second harmony in the chorus is there. Loud and proud. And somehow it still surprised me on the instrumental version.
Had to packet trace my book, it was in export facility in Tokyo 3 days ago, can't wait to get it. Dying to study their compositions and the way they play the songs. I agree that it's easier to get to the music with no vocals. I would love to get the individual tracks in Wav to analyze in my DAW, that would have been something special extra to have :-) Great info Ryan, and I can't wait to get my copy.
Just ordered from CDJapan cuz Pony Canyon not working. Can't wait to hear the whole CD and read the interviews! Will put the scorebook in an honored place next to my Rush scorebooks.
Mine arrived a few days ago. I was greatly impressed by the quality. I knew the music was complicated but the scores blew me away. These are symphonic. Yes so much going on. Lovely interviews, both Japanese and English language translations. My reaction here at home mirrored yours.
It's a beautiful book, and I can't play a note of music. What I know for sure is I'm gonna need to bump up the reading glasses to read it. Such TINY print on the interviews. And I smiled at your hushed reverence here, like getting the tablets straight from Moses. And that is totally APT.
When I listened to the CD that came with the UnseenWorld scorebook, I was surprised to discover something new. It is a "fact" that BAND-MAID has four different versions of one song, all of which are so good that it is hard to believe they are the same. One is the studio version (the original version). The next is the evolutionary version (the upgraded version), which is performed live. Then the acoustic version played on acoustic guitar. Finally, the instrumental version, performed without vocals. And the thing is that each version is so great and new that it sounds like a completely different song. For example, BLACK HOLE was first called "Hell" by the members. From the original version with SAIKI singing, "Hell" doesn't come to mind. However, the instrumental version is very powerful and full of "horror", "heaviness" and "heat", just like hell. The same thing happens with songs like "I still seek revenge", "H-G-K" and "After Life". It is said that every time you listen to a BAND-MAID song, you discover something new. In interviews, the girls have said that they continue to revise their songs in response to fan feedback and feedback from their concerts. This is like the great composer Bruckner, who was known to revise his scores throughout his life. It is "inevitable" that the live performance will be "superior" to the CD. Their talent is no longer in doubt. To the five geniuses we can only stand and applaud and send a loud "Bravo" of admiration. I hope DeepL gets the intention right...
when i heard the news B-M gonna release a music score book ... ok, just a book -_- ( i cant read anyway) After 1 week , news coming out ... "the book consist instrumental music CD" @_@ , OK i m clicking now !
The scorebook was very interesting. The interview with the members was good, but more than that, the interview with the staff was the best. Witness accounts of the growth of BAND-MAIDare valuable. This instrumental CD has been heavily rotated for the past fewdays.Maybe "Saichan"is jealous.🙀 I'm looking forward to the reaction of Ryan's interview article.
Was hoping to get mine this week, but of course we get the freakin' snow storm from hell and no delivery. Loved the comment about the "audible story going on" in the instrumental versions: you always pick up bits of the storyline that you didn't get before, and I can't wait to get the disc and looking forward to your takes!
Awesome Ryan I'm happy for you man! I bet it's going to be a sleepless night tonight, reading & jamming, lol. Hopefully some of that makes it to your Patreon for exclusive videos... *hint-hint* 😉
I barely write down any comment on any yt channel, maybe once a year, but after you say "a song writing masterclass", I login my yt account immediately and want to tell you that I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. ASAP!
Thank for sharing, it's amazing to see your eyes shine. I'm not a musician and I want one. Can you do a full instrumental version playing Saiki and Miku parts with the guitar?
Soz i'm so late, damn Black ops. Tch😒 That's awesome Ryan, i haven't been able to afford it yet but i know exactly how excited you are cos i'd feel the same. You'll also have a wonderful collectors item cos of the misprint on page 319 same as 259. Can't wait until you do a deep dive into the instrumentals.🙂👍
What is interesting is that Kanami arranged the second guitar at the last level that Miku can play. I think she always makes arrangements with Miku's skill improvement in mind. If the second guitarist had been a highly skilled professional guitarist, she would have made more complex arrangements. Eventually we will see Miku play a real solo part. I'm looking forward to it.
Thanks Ryan for sharing the unwrapping experience. I'll put off listening to the CD until you do your analysis. It's better to have a musician guide me thru it.
I realize you are now going to be busy with this for a few weeks.....so when you get a chance, You might want to put Yuragu on the reaction list. I feel like it is one of those songs you are going to yell at us for not telling you about it sooner 🧐 Early Band Maid so not overly technical ....Akane doing her thing, some tasty bass parts from MISA, Cool dual vocals and a longer than usual Kanami solo.
My package just arrived this afternoon btw but my only regret is my bad english, so i have to look at the dictionary a lot of words to understand. But it doesnt matter as long as i can always enjoy their beautiful music, right??? 😁😁😁 When their come to US, please you should come to their concert sir, to represent the fans who couldnt be there, like me 😁😁😁😁😁😁 #bandmaid #takeovertheworld
I'm still patiently waiting for mine. According to cd Japan it still hasn't been shipped. I also ordered Nemophila revive album and requested they be shipped together so that might be the reason why its taking a bit longer.
The instrumental CD is simply bloody awesome! once again, this bandscore worth every dollar I spent! so much more new things to be discovered from this awesome album. Ryan, have you downloaded P319 pdf yet?
I think with this CD, we are going to discover that each B-M song "just can be" an instrumental like onset or without holding back.... Edit : I'd click on send button at the exact same moment you said the same thing 🤣🤣🤣
And @Ryan Mear you've made me do something I swore I wasn't going to do until next month. I got out my credit card and signed up for a Pony Canyon account to order this. The cats will just have to eat leftovers :) j/k
Gosh, I already have the World Domination scorebook, but with the CD, that's just gold. Couldn't hear any of those lead parts for real without the voice isolation. Still mad that I couldn't order because that stupid mailer daemon from that shop of theirs rejects any non-gmail hosts.
@@w.martin747 Saw that too. About ~ 20 € more expensive, which is understandable. But still, quite inconvenient distribution. Never seen a mailserver that's so misconfigured ^^
Anything you get from Band-Maid is top notch and over the top with regards to shipping and product quality. The products are not inexpensive but once you get the item(s) they are worth every penny. You always get something extra, Band-Maid are just wonderful and caring people. Did this scorebook come with an instrumental CD of the entire album?
Ryan- could you edit the "misprint" song so that it sounds the same way as it is printed in the scorebook? It would be mighty interesting to hear that version.
I have been exposed to Japanese songs for a long time, and after listening to this CD, I am more certain and appreciate her talent. This is definitely a must-have for fans.
"Ryan Opens a Box", hahaha. Gonna have to skip this one for now, mine isn't getting here til Monday. Can't wait to hear the instrumental of Warning especially.
I was telling my partner about it today. He's just started listening to U.W. after W.D. album on repeat for weeks. I will definitely show him your reaction. He coined bandmaid music as pop-fusion (pop and whatever else) genre. Lol
When you already think Band-Maid puts more into one song than anyone else; then you find out you were only hearing half. What the actual fuck. Who else can blow your mind with a song you've already heard dozens of times?
Awesome in every sense of the word. Thank you.

Absolutely 👍😁🍻
Akane is fucking nuts man... Every member of this band is special... but I don't think I've ever heard a drummer like her.
Agree. I think she's more playful, primal version of Neil Peart almost. Definitely one of a kind 💕💕💕
How many bands could convince us non musicians to buy a score book? Looking forward to the interviews and CD.
It's like hearing it for the first time all over again.
you're right they did not have too release the instrumental but this shows there respect for the fans
Used to listen to instrumentals when I was younger. But damn this is a whole new level of musicality and technicality. I just found this band yesterday. And I've been on a total binge for the last 48 hours.

I can't wait to hear what's hiding underneath Saiki's beautiful vocals! I'm sure it's an entire unseen world there.
I see what you did there ;)

Yea, that is "Holy F**king Shit!" worthy. They are pretty special.
We can enjoy the Unseen World songs as if we heard them for the first time...again👍😉

...still waiting for my copy... can't wait.... looks awesome... drooling over this video... wow!

I barely write down any comment on any yt channel, maybe once a year, but after you say "a song writing masterclass", I login my yt account immediately and want to tell you that I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. ASAP!
Thank you for taking the time
Ok ok. I didn’t think I needed to buy this, but now I do!!!!
Thank for sharing, it's amazing to see your eyes shine. I'm not a musician and I want one.
Can you do a full instrumental version playing Saiki and Miku parts with the guitar?
that......is a really good idea
Soz i'm so late, damn Black ops. Tch😒 That's awesome Ryan, i haven't been able to afford it yet but i know exactly how excited you are cos i'd feel the same. You'll also have a wonderful collectors item cos of the misprint on page 319 same as 259. Can't wait until you do a deep dive into the instrumentals.🙂👍
I'm looking forward to this Scorebook mini-series! 😀
Had to delay ordering mine but was able to today. This is totally radical to the max!
Waiting mine with eagerness!
Why not be an adventurer and carve your own path in the Unseen World? 😜
@@gradyshmalady8284 I'll need ]Ryan's eyes (ears) to see things in the UW. 🙂
Dammit it Ryan, you just made me spend £60. Ordered! :)
It's not my fault! I'm not even getting commission for this! Even this is copyright claimed! LOL
@@RyanMear ;) No probs Chum ... I was on the fence about buying it but it looks sooooooooooooooo cool 🤣 THis Band is so f..king GOOD!
Pony Canyon "liked" my request for you to be linked ... Just trying to be .....
Wtf? That's cool!
More Band Maid video', I am here for it! 👍 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂
My package just arrived this afternoon btw but my only regret is my bad english, so i have to look at the dictionary a lot of words to understand.
But it doesnt matter as long as i can always enjoy their beautiful music, right??? 😁😁😁
When their come to US, please you should come to their concert sir, to represent the fans who couldnt be there, like me 😁😁😁😁😁😁
#bandmaid #takeovertheworld
Oh yes, definitely!
I'm still patiently waiting for mine. According to cd Japan it still hasn't been shipped. I also ordered Nemophila revive album and requested they be shipped together so that might be the reason why its taking a bit longer.
Can't wait to get mine. Is going to be awesome!
Now you have some lessons to do...practice practice practice and I expect some Band-Maid covers later on!
The instrumental CD is simply bloody awesome! once again, this bandscore worth every dollar I spent! so much more new things to be discovered from this awesome album.
Ryan, have you downloaded P319 pdf yet?
VERY late to the table but I just ordered mine.
You looked like a kid on christmas day.😂 Love it.
I think with this CD, we are going to discover that each B-M song "just can be" an instrumental like onset or without holding back....
Edit : I'd click on send button at the exact same moment you said the same thing 🤣🤣🤣
lol your comment about not getting a personal letter from KANAMI.
Feckin' awesome!!!! Now I really can't wait to get my copies!!!
Band Maid explores their inner Explosions in the Sky vibe.
And @Ryan Mear you've made me do something I swore I wasn't going to do until next month. I got out my credit card and signed up for a Pony Canyon account to order this. The cats will just have to eat leftovers :) j/k
Chemical Reaction is f...ing awesome on the CD.
Yes! There’s ALWAYS so much more when you strip off the vocals. Check out Moratorium on Band-Maid prime with Akane!!! ❤️
I'm happy for you.you deserved man
Gosh, I already have the World Domination scorebook, but with the CD, that's just gold. Couldn't hear any of those lead parts for real without the voice isolation. Still mad that I couldn't order because that stupid mailer daemon from that shop of theirs rejects any non-gmail hosts.
I couldn't order from PC either, so I put in an order with CD Japan and it is now on it's way :)
Yes!
I went straight to play the Chain Reaction track when i put the CD in. I knew it would be good.
👏👏👏
Good thing it's Friday...know what you'll be doing all night!!🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍🦧🍌🙏
Ryan- could you edit the "misprint" song so that it sounds the same way as it is printed in the scorebook? It would be mighty interesting to hear that version.
Who said Christmas comes but once a year?
I also bought a set and it was really good. enjoy it!
Page 319 is wrong, the BANDMAID email has the correct download.
Lol
Nice!
@@RyanMear btw does the scorebook actually come with the instrumental cd?
