This story is so good that too bad it never was shown in the original model series. Seeing things from Smodger's point of view was VERY interesting to see :)
I actually have a head-canon to for whatever happened to Smudger😅 In mine, he was found under the remains of the sheds by some boys... and every day when the boys weren't in school, they'd all walk along the old rails to go visit Smudger and tell jokes... but they keep him a secret cuz they're afraid of Smudger getting scraped. It's sorta like Hero of the Rails but more quiet and heartwarming (not that HOTR isn't heartwarming enough 😅 despite that movie making no damn sense when you think about it)
i remember a few years ago, watching a video like this one, where Henry's driver and fireman, abandoned him along a lonely line in his own forest. not out of spite or anger. but to protect him, since the diesels were basically taking over sodor. and just like OP's post, some boys found Henry in the forest, and Henry would tell the boys his life story, and that he's happy now, living amongst the trees and animals.
Poor Smudger, dude. This just makes me feel sad for one of the mid Sodor engines we thought was just another naughty engine who didn’t care if he caused trouble or not. At least we can say the poor lad is free once again.
Wow now that’s what I call a true sad story of Smudger, I do feel sorry for him and I can see how he was after he was killed and haunting the railway as a lonely spectre but I hope he will let go of his past and move on to rest in peace
What a sad story for Smudger... That little engine never stood a chance on Sodor because of his rushed design and his constant derailing beyond his control. All that only to lose a set of wheels, become a house generator, and left behind rusting away under a mountain full of earth. It goes to show that there are certain disabilities can hold a man or a machine down to the point of obscurity. The saddest part is that he could've told Duke about his condition, but remained smug and opted not to.
Wasn't expecting to hear Silent Hill music in this video xD Really glad you adapted it for us too! Gave me a new perspective on Smudger and I still never got over that they just left him there.
Nice adaptation, sorry to say though that this isn't allowed, Narrow Gauge (the creator of the story) has said that people are not allowed to adapt his stories as these videos often get more views and compliments than the actual story that he posted. After looking at the comments here, I can see why he's done it. I'd suggest taking this video down before we lose the entirety of "Horror on the Rails" before it's too late. -Elias

Wow, this is a very sad story! Smudger had a mechanical problem beyond repair, then he was turned into a generator as opposed to scrap. Eventually the railway was abandoned, and a boulder(probably not Boulder himself)killed him. 😞
@@fridaynightfunkinfan5627 beyond repair means he cannot be fixed at all, like there was litterly nothing they could do, like saying if someone died, they are beyond repair
I wonder how many years Smudger would've served the Mid Sodor Railway as when he was an engine in this timeline? What about Stanley - did he replace Smudger until he got turned into a pumping engine? Would anyone have rescued him?
in my head-canon Smudger arrives on the MSR in 1925 and became number 2 to replace Stanley (the first number 2, who arrived in 1920 but got turned into a pumping engine in 1924) but Smudger got turned into a Generator in 1928 and got scrapped in October 1945
It’s a sad story, of an engine who wanted to be useful, but his faults left him useless. So he was turned into a generator, and then was Left Behind. If my Characters heard about Smudger, they would most certainly come looking for him, his remains.
Smudger is what I would call "Sodor's Condemned". Engines that underwent hard times and had the unthinkable happen to them. Up there with Timothy, Alfred and Diesel 10.
Well, in other series about mud, he didn’t die. He came back to life because someone came to the railway tour and they found them and they got help for him or something, and they brought them back on the rails.
I really liked this story, it’s emotional too. Probably why I like it so much. Also just out of curiosity what was the background music in the beginning that you used? Just wondering, because I like it.
I remember in the thomas episode grand puff smuger was behind the shed that Duke was telling the other engines stuart and Falcon a story about him but now his ghost rides the rail where he was left behind
Now before anyone jumps down my throat, I have asked and received permission from Narrow Gauge to adapt some of these stories
That's good to hear.

They say that smudgers spirit still roams the old line, hoping that one day someone will find him
Looking forward to seeing this 😀
I’d love to see more one the ghost of smudger
This isn’t horror so much as a tragic tale
That was wonderful. Though duke's "shocked" face kinda looks strange for some reason. =/
Looks like they photoshopped it from his Season 6 face sheet and added pupils.
11:49 Gives me the feeling like I just got overwhelmed in a mansion infested by zombies, vampires, and werewolves.
Smudger had the same problems like the ALCO C855. Production was rushed + form over function. Also duke seemd not to care about Smudger. Prad...
This reminded me about shed 17 while smudger being removed we seen random red things under him while smudger is lift by cranky
I think it's blood coming out of smudger
Don’t compare this masterpiece to shed 17.
No it cant be blood its like stuck in the little generators thing and its like sticky so it cant be blood but there is still blood@@noobs905real

So are Andrew (the engine who fell from the Old Iron Bridge in Duncan gets Spooked), Skarloey, Tallylyn and Jennings
