Lost TV gems: Space Stars 10-10-81 Space Ghost & Teen Force

- 10-10-81 episode of the rarely seen Space Stars cartoon featuring Space Ghost & Teen Force, along with segments featuring the Herculoids and others. Duped direct from 16mm to Beta1. The BetaGems channel also has "Cartoon Lost & Found: Adam West October 1989 pilot, complete show," "1989 USA Cartoon Express & Nickelodeon Cartoons TV ad," "1989 King Koopa's Kool Kartoons on Fox Kids Club, longlost Mario Bros show," "1989 Secret Saturday Cartoon Show, Karate Kid & Camp Candy," and "Cartoon Theme Songs with Gary Owen & Bob Denver 1988 TV."
BetaGems are culled from an archive of over 1000 beta video tapes recorded from 1983 into the 1990s. Most feature live music performances broadcast on television in San Diego CA, though there are also rarely seen commercials, comedy clips, and other material that doesn't seem to be anywhere else on UA-cam or online.
Most of the tapes were recorded on a Sony SL-HFT7 Super Beta Theater Hi-Fi Stereo - the same model was refurbished and is being used for these digital transfers and uploads. In rare occasions where a BetaGems clip does appear elsewhere, we're only uploading if our own beta master is better quality or contains material not seen previously. Much footage comes from public television and public access broadcasts that the taper, who worked for a local cable TV production company in the 1980s, monitored nightly for several years. Some of the programming is strictly regional, mostly from the San Diego area.
This episode can be found on the DVD release of “Space Stars” and it was digitally remastered and restored, and this one is a unrestored 16mm kinescope print from 1981 which was one of the last of the kinescope film prints before it went into master video tape during the 1980’s. They stop doing kinescope prints by around 1988 or so.
Kinescope ceased to exist as of the 1970s.
Awesome! One of my favorite Saturday morning cartoons. Summertime was the best time back then, no school and Saturday morning cartoons!
Now that’s the spirit.
OMG I almost forgot about this right here....... My childhood is on overdrive lol
Possibly.
Takes me back! I was SO crazy about this cartoon in the early 80's!
This is when Saturday mornings were great!!
Space Ghost was the man.
And right up there with Captain Caveman.
Been looking for this single episode forever!!😊
Same here.
I love this! I want all episodes of Teen Force.
The late 70's and early 80's was Totally Awesome for Toons. And Teen Force and Space Stars with Space Ghost was definitely apart of My Saturday Morning line up.Along with My Big Bowl of Apple 🍎 Jack and Fruity Pebbles.😎👍🏾🌴
Ugglor is what you get when a gorilla, an angel, a housefly, and a Spartan all do a fusion group dance.
Ah... The memories.
Thanks for the upload!
The series is available on DVD.
What a treasure that must be. Have they ever caught and punished any of the twistos who foisted this garbage on us in the first place?
No taste obviously.
Thank you for sharing, this variety program is chock full of tropes!

I've got a question ⁉️ here I've just discovered some cartoons that I've never heard or seen of: Captain Fathom
Space Angel or Clutch Cargo can you tell me about them
@@garycarpenter6433 Never heard of those I'll get back to you on them later
I so remember waking up to see this on Saturday mornings
Interesting.
I've said it before, but I'd love to see DC Comics give Space Stars the Future Quest treatment, in a mini series. Space Ghost and The Herculoids have already been established, and the others would fit in easily enough. Maybe one day.
If a movie version had already been made, well, I see Lindsay Lohan as Electra and Anna Kournikova as Tara.
I actually remember watching that Olympians episode as a kid.
Saturday, 10 October 1981
Original airdate of episode.
Space Stars! A Galaxy Of Heroes Team Together In A Interstellar Battle Against Evil! Blast Off On Adventures As Big As The Cosmos Itself! Race! Poised On The Edge Of Time With Space Ghost And His Young Friends! And Somewhere Deep In Space, Super Danger Threatens Kid Comet And The Teen Force! Now Get Set For Action, Adventure, Fun On Hanna Barbera's Space Stars!
Marvelous narration.
Man! Do I miss being a kid growing up in the 80s with this cartoon and the many others. M a nostalgia rat🐀.
I know just how you feel.
Oh! It's Saturday morning 1960s all over again. Just need some Captain Crunch Cereal, with crunchberries of course. Can't image how I DON"T have diabetes given the breakfastes I ate as a child.
Just luck.
It's their attempt at the 60's cartoons, but with a less violent approach with a more educational purpose.
I was a baby when this came out on tv
Nice to know.
I remember this cartoon
Right on.
AWESOME JOB!!
Right on.
I know there was another one, not with the Teen Force, but with Space Ghost, a Crystal Cyborg, everything it touches becomes Crystal, and if not returned to its natural form in one hour, it remains crystal, forever
If I remember correctly the Herculoids were in that with Space Ghost
@@garycarpenter6433 You are correct, the Cyborg landed on Quasar while Space Ghost was trailing it.
One time Medusa hit Igoo the stone ape from the Herculoids with her vision only nothing happened because he's made of stone already!
Rememberable plot outline.
So far so good.
Great show!
Top notch.
Wow. Saturday morning cartoons NBC.
Basically.
I watched "Space Ghost" in the 1960s, but never the Teen Force.
Pretty sure Teen Force was an 80s thing on the reboot.
@@DemonKingBadger Didn't see the reboot.
I am awestruck
Likewise.
never see that coming
40 year's ago to be exact
Give or take a few odd months here and there.
They show this opening on USA cartoon express in the 80’s but never show Astro and The Space Mutts; but they did show Astro and The space Mutts teams up with The Herculoids😀👍🏿
Only if they hadn’t obtained the broadcasting rights to either “DRAGON’S LAIR” and “THUNDARR THE BARBARIAN” as well as “THE MONCHEECHEES”.
I dorno about that!
Good grief.
Actually the reboots of SG and Hercoloids were disappointing because of the dial down of violence because of one houswife's compliant.
Yeah, I always like the Herculoids most, and in the originals they kicked ass, took names, and kick ass of the names they took
Estrogen make ppl stupid
the complete series is on dvd
Haven’t seen any advertisements for it on tv or in the dvd catalogs either.
Where did you find this vintage gold? All hail Uglor! Not evn space ghost can handle him alone! lol.
And nowadays old Uglor is doing life without parole in the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas, thanks in part to Captain Caveman.
Maybe those Olympians need to battle Uglor one day with the help of allies like Captain Caveman.
Seemed like Medusa only tickled Igoo.
Possibly.
Medusa is a monster with snakes for hair
Greek Mythology 101.
ugg loar i wear uggs..
Space Ghost the space policeman of the galaxy his history hidden but some know his identity and his history but he never revealed his own identity to just anyone except those he can rely on?
I think this character had a strong connection to another legendary hero of the old west the Lone Ranger their backstories are not to dissimilar so is possible they are really kin it is also possible Space Ghost could also be related to Zorro and Green Honet and one another not Batman but possible connection to Hal Jordon /Green Lanten or Cpt Comet? There's something else about SG though he uses the title he wasn't the very first one I recall a character calling himself Space Phatom an alien with shape shifting powers and vast energy ability to alter his size and mass and used a couple of different identities as a policeman and a reporter and something changed things later the character turned up in marvel universe with a more deadlier look and origins were changed? He did look similar to Space Ghost originally taller and redish eyes than white?
Such rare classics.
Neat!
You got it.
Teen force lol!
@BetaGemsLostMedia
I would like to know if you take requests because I may have one regarding what I would like to see on UA-cam.
We're still not all the way through inventorying the content but we do have around 600 of the tapes done - let me know what you're looking for. If we don't already have it, then it may turn up later -
Interesting point.
Let’s hope that you can possibly scare up both Kwicky Koala and Trollkins.
This looks like the USA Network broadcasts that removed the Herculoids and Astro and Space Mutts segments.
It is. Why they took The Herculoids out, I'll never know.
Me neither, especially when USA at the same time broadcast the Herculoids with Space Ghost using the 60s intro despite showing the 80s episodes. It was having a VHS recording of the NBC broadcast (September 1981) that made me aware they were all together once..
It’s just a possibility.
Programming director obviously thought that Space Ghost would get higher ratings.
My point exactly.
I Wonder who's faster kid Comet or Flash
I think that maybe they’d tie too easily.
Uglor 2024 ... lol
In the old federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Learn the value of friendship brah
Don’t recall that character dropping in.
@@LindaCooper-i3f what?
This and others like it were made back in the 80's. Not as well made as the ones from the 60's
Perhaps true, but imagine if the adventures had also included Captain Caveman?
@@LindaCooper-i3f Captain Caveman was more in the comedy adventure category, much like Hong Kong Phooey and Scoobie Do, where are you.
1980, man lower budget compared to the past.
I like the TEEN FORCE, but Space Mites, really? I never could figure out why Space Mites, that makes no sense
Remember Batman cartoon that had batmite that when they got there idea from
Astromites, not Space Mites.
Goodnight nurse.
Possibly.
Tell it like it is.
back up girl
This was NOT a gem to me. It was an abomination. 😆 They couldn't replicate the classic 60s version, they just couldn't... 😏
I think that maybe it’s just jazzed up a bit. If only they had both Captain Caveman and Jabberjaw on their side?
Split up? Isn't that the way to get killed in horror films? ;-)
Lost ???? Since when ???? Perhaps you spend to much time in the basement playing video games!!
National Lampoon’s Planet Quasar Vacation. Clark Griswold wouldn’t know what to think, but neither would Ellen.
no scare smaville and get way with it
Ask God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost to show you what I’m trying to tell you and others. Pray this prayer: “Lord God, Jesus Christ, and Holy Ghost, if there is anything this person is trying to tell me, show it to me. Thank you, lord. In Jesus Christ name I pray. Amen.”
And may a few of the prayers help Captain Caveman to defeat the villains in our world.
never see that coming
