@@dxm_music Older than that - Deck 16 dates right back to the very first Unreal, back when it was a single-player game with a multiplayer mode bolted on. It was one of the most popular maps for Unreal multiplayer, so UT99 included an updated version of it. As did UT2k. I don't know if ut2k3 or UT3 included their own versions of Deck 16, I never played those. But it's just a good level design providing opportunities for all different styles of play and a good balance between them - sniping, ambush, use of cover, pickup-camping or simply running around like a madman with a rocket launcher. The vertical platforming added a good three-dimensional level to combat while encouraging players to master the more advanced manoeuvrability skills, but didn't make them such a focus as to leave less rocket-jumpy players behind. A level that everyone can enjoy, so after Unreal showed the popularity it was adapted and re-used in later games.
@@vylbird8014 UT3 came with its own version of Deck_16, modeled after the UT2k version (where the back of the Flak Cannon room merges with a new GES Biorifle room in front of the UDamage crates)
