Yeah dump the lemon and tartar sauce just salt n vinegar for me . Proper old skool.
If a full English, Sausage and mash, Fish and Chips or a good curry is food that makes you smile, I must have the biggest smile ever.
Great video mate, as I watched this I was waiting for my mate to pick up some fish and chips with mushy peas it made watching this all the more enjoyable. I love the bike footage too. Top man, keep it real mate.

It makes a nice change to have a selection of fish to choose from.
I haven’t had rock for many, many years. My mum used to get rock from Rathbone market and cook it. Middle skate is lovely but I only eat cod now. I had what I think was the best I’d ever had a couple of weeks ago, delicious! Freshly cooked with a really fine batter. The curry sauce was lovely too and for the first time in years I ate half a portion of chips. I couldn’t eat chips or any potato dish without salt. I don’t like vinegar but lemon squeezed over the fish is a must. So glad you enjoyed it.
Always was my favourite fish, can’t get it where I live now, always had it when I was young and on holiday with my aunt in Kent. Happy memories you have given me today, many thanks DJ❤

Souf London. You have to love the London accent. Rock&Chips....wasn't that a spin off to Only Fools and Horses?. Fish looks great. Proper chips and mushy peas too. Bang on meal.
I enjoyed the filming on Daisy when you were on your way to the fish and chip shop, Darren. There was quite a bit of clever creativity going on and with your choice of background music, it definitely added to the interesing flow of the video.
I never used to like mushy peas but i think they really make the fish and chips more nourishing and comforting . More tasty. Your mushy peas looked great.
Whisper it, but Ive even been known to dabble in a bit of curry sauce more recently That would' ve been a no-no years ago...!

I to love rock and any fish that does not have any bones in this.
Yes love to have salt Vinegar and Tartar sauce and bread or roll and butter.
The only problem I find unless fish is freshly cooked it is always very creasy and deep in batter which I have to leave as this is not crispy.
Now that’s more like it! 😋 You have restored my faith in the ability to get decent Fish and Chips in London….! (I was beginning to think it was a lost cause….!) Well Done Darren! Good find….! 👍

I’ve not had Rock for ages, really fancy some now, I’d changed to plaice of late, and not all our chippies do Rock. But …. As delicious as it looked, I could not contemplate eating it without salt, I don’t have much salt at all in my food and it’s usually low salt, but for me it’s a must in fish and chips, but each to their own. Glad it made you smile 😊

I think Rock is a Southern thing. Never seen a fish review with Scate? And I watch a few. Nice thanks.
We don't generally get much choice up here in the North; your usual cod or haddock and sometimes plaice but never seen rock. but we were in Portsmouth many years ago and went for fish and chips; they had a huge selection but it was late and they had run out of most stuff, but they had Dutch Eel. I'm up for anything different so gave it a try - wife wouldn't even consider it. the best fish experience I've ever had, and I know my fish & chips. That was perhaps 50 years ago now and I've never seen it since and we've travelled all over - oh for one more time before i snuff it.

Fish and chips. One of my all time favourite meals. My ready made pizza from Aldi isn't so appealing now. That's a good looking plate full too. Salt and vinegar for me. Another excellent review.

I used to live in that area back in the 1980s. Fish and chips look amazing and the quality of the food shone through. Fish and chips which hopefully would make everyone smile. 😊

Darren: you ARE the MAN!!!!!!! Rock is my all-time favourite fish, but it is SO hard to get at most chippies😡 I just can't get my family to go for it, but it is defo THE best choice🤩
Great vlog Darren just took a delivery from there to Bermondsey of Rock n chips it took about 12 minutes and its excellent, it only cost £2 for delivery, incidently the chip shop is in Rotherhithe just short of Deptford.

Fish Friday so I treated myself to cod and chips , cost me less than £8 but I'm a northerner living by the sea....no concrete jungle just views and cheap chip shops 😁

Hi Darren, I think I know fish and chips, but if you are ever never Wroxham in Norfolk, I suggest you try Ken’s Traditional Fish and Chips. They are the best I have ever had! Harry
Just had a weekend in Canary wharf. On way home we went to ' Ginger Pig ', after watching you and your son having the pasties!. O my god!!! They were awesome. Also the lamb sausage roll 😮.

Darren if you fancy a great trip out on your bike this summer there’s a place called Littleport near Ely where one of the founders of Harley Davidson is from and there’s a Harley statue in the village where bikers go to visit.
While you’re there go to Ely Fish house for lunch or dinner, easily one of the best fish and chips in the country.

Hello mate! I was in Thailand recently. Their meatballs really ARE the dog’s bollocks.
Looked good quality fish there dj, in fact you should go to the rye bay scallop festival when it's on, and in the high St in RYE there's marinos fish bar, the quality there is literally off the charts, best ever. The food is excellent in the mermaid aswell, book yourself a room sometime.

Good Evening DJ. I could tell straight from your Facial Expression, this plate of Deliciousness was yes, Off the Charts. It was really Good to see proper thick Beef Chips, Mushy peas looked absolutely Gorgeous, this Wonderful piece of Fish called Rock looked absolutely Stunning, the Flesh looked so White and thick too Saviour it's Succulence with each mouthful. These Fish & Chips with Mushy Peas and Tartare Sauce was The best i have ever seen. £ 15 pounds paid, that was a very Good price. Thank you DJ.

as a Lancashire Lad by birth one of the highlights of bonfire night was a cone of black peas. You had them with vinegar and pepper and they were lush - devastating effects the next day if you had more than one portion and some dandelion and burdock

Ah lunch out. A rare treat.The local chippy, a selling point for any estate agents. Rock is underrated I think,but I came from a two fish family. Mum& me cod( or the occasional skate wing) dad & my sister rockers😂 Yours looked like the real deal, plate filler fish & a huge amount of proper old-fashioned Chips.And at a fair price. Have to say,coming from the 50's to the modern day, what you can buy in the " chippy " nowadays is amazing,such a choice. In fact I'd say a plain old chip shop,with nothing else would be out of business in weeks. Drooling is not a pretty sight & I'm drooling now, and each crunch of that batter is torture 😢 So,thank you for another belting video. Always entertaining. Til next time Cheers Allan&Family

The simple english meals cooked well are the very best aren't theg Darren. They looked scrumptious. My children said my mum's chips and mjne were the best. I learned from my mum and to me hers were the best. When my brother and I were at junior school we didn't always have school dinners although they were good and we came home at lunchtime to a hot meal. I can taste those chips egg and beans now my favourite. The chips were golden brown and she fried them in dripping in a deep fry pan in those days.j

Hello Darren. I've subscribed(on ur original channel too) and followed for a while. I have to be honest. The title really put me off and wasn't sure I wanted to watch it. I'm Scottish and never heard that saying before. Definitely know it wasn't a clickbait but thought meal was going to be awful 😮How wrong was I😊Not keen on the bone, u know how to deal with it but not sure lots of viewers would. We will now though! All's well that ends well, off the charts👍
