There are lots of little train stations in the countryside. It really depends on where you live in the countryside. I live near Sheffield and the Peak District is nearby with train stations in Hope and Hathersage etc. Again, starting to hike really depends on where you live in the country. I live out in Derbyshire and so was surrounded by countryside to go walking in. From then I learned to read maps and would go further afield and begin to plan trips
Correction Daniel. The water that disappears at water sinks re-appears not at Malham cove ut at Aire head springs. The Malham cove water comes from near the ruins of an old smelt mill 1 1/2 miles away.
Sometimes I'll do a circular walk, but on this occasion I had someone drop me off. I parked my car at the end and then they drove me to where I started off from
hi daniel, how do get to places so secluded in the first place? does a friend drop you off? or do you get a taxi to the middle of no where? , i really want to hike!
Thank you for reminding me. Incredible journey, 19 days, Edale to Kirk Yetholm. I enjoyed and marveled at every step.
I am glad you enjoyed your walk, you have still got a lot of the UK to do.
