I`m born in `71. So Depeche Mode is a part of my life from `81. They shaped my youth and my taste of music. Thank you for this. For me, " Music for the masses " is the best album they ever made. So many memories and so many beautifull moments to remember.

@@Johannes_DC I Love The Mode Seen Them Live 5 Times but Almost In My Opinion Is Much Better and Without Realising The Things You Said Is A Very Similar Chord Structure.
Yesterday afternoon I went to a BBQ joint in Austin, TX this song happened to been playing on the radio, it totally blew my mind hearing this song because it was never released as a single and it's not one of their commonly played songs either, while the food was great hearing this song made my restaurant experience even better!
I have always wanted to meet Depeche Mode just to earnestly say, "Thank you. Thank you so very much." Their music, like that of any artist I love, is a beautiful gift to the world. Music for the Masses indeed.
thabeandog, I feel exactly the same way. I think Martin's shared thoughts through music and lyrics is one of the best gifts he could leave for humanity. Everyone I've come across im my lifetime that didn't know about Depeche Mode found a treasure when I introduced the band to them. The amazing thing is that many of them didn't even speak or understand english.
Fragile, haunting, revelational, personal - and yet universally relevant - listened to them endlessly on my walkman. Took them with me wherever I went.
Ivan Malek Underrated: to rate too low : undervalue We all appreciate him and he is the foundation of DM. The backbone of it all. Fans stop using underrated to describe him. Let us instead all say Martin is the Master of the mind, a silent genius, a master of his craft❤🌹✝
Yes he is! My favorite song of all time is Somebody and it is because it's Martin singing. He has a voice that o one can match. Hell as far as unique voices go for me he is there with Freddy Mercury, Micheal Jackson, Ozzy and a few others. You can hear it for 2 seconds and know it's him!
I'm basically an old hippie from the 70's. Love the Beatles, Neil Young, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd etc.. and with all the classic rock in my CD collection is the Depeche Mode section. The only new wave band that takes up a prominent amount of space equal to Bowie and all the others. Amazed they've lasted this long and are even more popular then they were back then. Should thank my sister for playing "Shake the Disease" for me back in the 80's. I've been hooked ever since.
Depeche Mode was one of my favorite childhood bands. This song, it's lyrics, the music, the vibe it sends, is so why they're so amazing. They set an entire mood to go with the lyrics.
My weaknesses can’t seemed to let one day go without listening to this amazing band. I loved them since 1981-to present time. And they keep getting better and better. They’re so talented and super human beings. Love D🌹M forever😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😎
@@ivancosekuloski5349 It isn't the best band ever, WTF? Also, I don't like this song, this band has got some good songs, but they aren't amazing songs. You can't compare this with Queen.
One of my favourite DM songs with Martin's vocal. Music For The Masses is great album, I love all them from Speak & Spell to Delta Machine. Will keep this way of living always, forever :)
This song describes perfectly what happens when someone you once cared about says some shit about you to your friends. But not everyone has some good and true friends that would “know him better than that”. At least I didn’t.
i second that emotion !! this reminds of some of the bleaker moments during my youth where i was just a struggling student and musician!! music like this certainly helps to soothe the soul!!
MrEightiesvintage I think I like the first 20 seconds most. Just the synth bass, the drum and the beautiful pads in the background. So easy but amazing. And on the album you got the wind rising slowly between. "Never Let Me Down" and this song. So powerful.
I'm born in '03 and I love this song so much. Music taste was so much better back in the 80s. Today every artist just writes stupid lyrics about themselves or how hot a woman is... Its really sad how far music has fallen...
I understand or at least I believe I know exactly what this song is "supposed to mean". Any human could come to understand this, even if "they don't really want to admit it". It's about insecurities. Whether specific or relative to the listener/artist is moot imo. People tend to either 'accept or not accept you' devoid of who you are to them. This song I believe conveys the soft unspoken word of social dynamics in this respect. To respect a person, to know them, is to accept them at their best and worst, but deeper than a simple quote. With meaning behind it. This 'othering' of the individual is what delineates group dynamics. Sometimes showing your weaknesses is not the best way forward, but sometimes is. The choice however to show one's true colors is a coming of wisdom, less you share too much, or too little. This is what I feel in the song. It also sounds very nice too, but it's sorta too soft and easy going. I tend to enjoy their more dramatic pieces..
LCMAB 1992 It would seem that the protagonist in this song told Martin's friends about his weakness whatever they might be. It also appears that he trusted this person and the thimgs mentioned were very personal and Mattin is extremely disappointed at the betrayal by someone he clearly cared for very deeply. That's what it sounds like to me

That masculine voice, electronic sounds and a lot of truth in the songs, a lot of clear thoughts. There is only one band which is able to do that.
