my aunt got xz premium, I got Z5 compact and my mother.
XZ got broken with screen not showing anything and I suspect my little nephew probably might have smashed it. My friend also really hates sony since they claim their phone water resistance but my friends phone got splashed and then it didnt work! worst is the sony in saudi arabia didnt do a thing about it but instead asked him to pay more just to replace it!

The only wird thing in this video is you, obviously you get paid by Samsung to make this video, let me break it down for you, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium is much better in every aspect compared to the Samsung, a normal person doesn't put his phone in a freezer, so this video doesn't proof that the Samsung is a better device over the Sony Xperia XZ Premium.

that was my first response on what it could be as well, it is kind of silly freezing them in inches of water for 12 hours and thinking they wouldnt turn off, or potentially lose battery lol.

Battery's does lose their ability to store energy when is used in extreme conditions.. About vibration i think you just made a condensation when you poured hot water directly on the xzp, so imagine what you created inside the phone. I would say be happy that they didn't explode in your face after all.. At first I thought that you have some weird browser pop-ups which sometimes makes the phone vibrate.

just to inform you, the lithium batteries inside have less usable energy at lower temperatures. if you heat them up again, more of the energy becomes usable again. i find the results very interesting that the samsung died with 22% while the sony died with insufficient battery power to boot up. at first i thought this was due to the fact that the samsung might have better thermal properties and can expel heat more. however i also noticed the sony was much more erratic when you put it in the freezer. my guess is the sony stayed warmer longer because it was actually being used more than the samsung, which appeared to stay on the same screen when you put them in the freezer. in other words, i hypothesize that both phones would've behaved exactly the same if you did not put the phones in the water after unlocking them.

When you did the z5 premium and the s7 edge the z5 premium clearly won with the speakers and everything else. Here you poured hot water directly on the Sony but didn't on the Samsung. Samsung = bloatware, my camera stopped focusing for no reason on my s8 plus and I find the fingerprint place is in a shit place.
Sony = compatible with my PS4, 4k screen, 960fps, shit low light photos, never had software issues tho.
in the end of the day it's personal preference but I'll be going back to Sony when then next flagship comes out
TheMagical you need to play with the settings for low light photos and the phone must be absolutely steady that way no other phone can compare
The trick with low light is to brace the phone and use manual mode. Unfortunately the auto mode has to be biased towards getting a non blurry shot, even if it has more noise.
It's a Sony feature to warm itself up. It is also why it's battery was dead.
I'm a total Sony fan boy, but had to get the s20 ultra in last upgrade, abs nothing big bugs. 😭 In the end is subjective

One VERY important thing, in my opinion, which most reviewers don't talk about, is media management. Sony is one of the only companies which offers media management software between your phone and your PC. To me, personally, it is a very important thing. I've been an iPhone user a while ago and I got very used to iTunes which served to be a VERY convenient way to manage your music library on your phone. When I switched to Android and got my first Xperia Z3, I was very pleased to find out that Sony offers a great alternative which is called MediaGo. It is basically the same thing as iTunes and it allows me to manage my phone's photos, videos and music easily. Samsung and Google, for example, do not offer that, and that's a huge bummer...

For your "fairness" please always check the power left before you are going to make a test based on battery, since eI noticed the Sony phone is below 80% while Samsung above, and I noticed during the submerging scene Sony had launched a game by itself, but I don't see any "fairness " in this video, and more, I believe it is not good to pour hot water directly on the phone, especially on the back (poor Sony) as I believe you as a smartphone user must be aware that there is the whereabout that batteries sleeps.

Ive used my XA for lets say 6 months from now and used my j7 for 3 weeks and dude i just dont get it cause samsung is laggy as fuck when it comes to games and the camera looks like its an instant photoshop (not a compliment) and the fact that my XA (2gb ram)is way smoother than the j7 (3gb ram) is messed up lol

Tech Trinkets - learn some physics before you do the test. Pouring boiling water on something that is deep frozen is not the best idea - it can explode, or just crack - like the ice on this video. Few people mentioned also that you poured boiling water directly on Sony phone, and non-directly on Samsung, which is unfair and you should pay attention for what you doing. Couldn't be even bothered to watch the video to the end because of your "mistakes". Deep freeze phones that's ok, but defrosting them -your way is shit. Take them out of a freezer, put them in cold or warm water and leave until ice melt, slowly.
The RESION it shut down was because it was to cold like you said it was on the coldest setting on the freezer!!

First of all this test is useless,nxt he hates sony like many cause sonys middle range phones r not good but this phone xzp and xz and xz1 etc,are not like that,xzp is the fastest phone of 2017,it even defeated 1+5t,iphone x,and this waste s8,s8+...wter resistant is just to protect the phone, for things we do accidentally,so this test is utter waste.when comes to bench mark it stands fourth,but this samsung phones never came in front of sony...overall xzp is the winner.this is a universal truth

My xzp just got water damaged and it keeps vibrating with display dead. Now I am drying it out with soda powder, hoping it will work again.
Did your xzp go back life eventually?
By the way, my xzp was waterproof until I washed it with soap in hot water, which may have hurt the sealing.

That Samsung really does boot up fast. Battery draining is probably due to the amount each phone was going psycho opening and selecting random things XD The vibration motor is probably an electrical short created by condensation, or maybe water got pushed inside somehow when you added the charger cable. The fact that it stays on when phone is off indicates some kind of moisture inside. The Samsung also had moisture inside if it "detected moisture". Just not enough to make vibrator come on ;p
As for lightbleed - it's annoying on the Sony, it's also annoying on the Samsung. Just look at it from a side angle and the curved edges create a bigger light bleed and distortion. I guess you get used to it whichever device you choose.

ip68 doesn't mean water proof, it means water resistant. Cold water is lower density than warm water also, so with low water temperatures over long period of time water ingress is more likely. Both phones probably had water ingress and who knows what ended up getting corroded inside. It's basically a matter of luck and design peculiarities which phone had more important components get water damaged. These phones can continue to work with damage as long as it's not on any critical component/power rail.
Been with Samsung since the S3. I'm done with them. Glad to say goodbye to my S6 Edge. Switching to Sony. Ordered the XZP today :D

Jason Evans Well I knew I wanted to stick with Android because fuck Apple but I didn't wanna stay with Samsung because I kept having problems with every phone only a few months into the contract. It's like they're built to break after a little while. Sony are pretty good with hardware so I gave them a shot since they are also Android. I have to say so far I am impressed. It's exactly what I needed. Just gotta wait and see if it lasts 2 years without having issues. The only problem I have with my XZP is the keyboard predictions. It comes up with some ridiculous shit sometimes lol.

Water is in the xzp.Its type-c port is weak and mine xzp also had water damaged when I test it under water(3min 15cm)

I think turning auto -off is rather smart that weird.. Protects accu from exploding... well, not in every samsung models for sure :D .. Anyways extreme and dumb test, when you're not planning to jump in to volcano. The silicon seals are now damaged for ever, no more waterproof for sony. I think You could do car tests and record the damage when hitting a wall at 60 km/h and rewiev which is safest and most reliable XD
