I’m thinking: I have a lot more skills to learn before the apocalypse... my kids make fun of me because of my “prepper supplies”; BUT, last year after a freak tornado touched down nearby and everyone around had no power for 2 weeks and they advised against gas generators because of red flag warnings; I was making soup, coffee and tea for local cops and repair crews and charging peoples devices with my solar chargers. My tiny town then asked me to write up a short article recommending supplies for people to use in future events that might happen..like the blizzard just 2 weeks after they published my article. My kids don’t make fun of me anymore..at least not for my prepper stuff. My chinese lessons are a whole different subject..😁. 再见！
I was a doomer back in the 80s. Ran with a group of about 12 or so, field exercises, shooting, field medicine, bushcraft etc. We figured on heading out to Hudson's bay. Since then, I've become diabetic, my body is breaking down, and I need access to medical facilities to survive. I think if I get warning, I'll just sit on the balcony with a bottle of rum and watch the fireworks. I live 12 miles from one of Canada's financial centers. B'bye.

Only thing I read in headlines about China was about how the NGO/military industrial complex front group Human Rights Watch were screaming about how evil a New Zealand court is, 18 years after a Chinese-new Zealand citizen brutally murdered women in China; New Zealand agreed to extradite the man to face a jury in China. HRW and now US officials are calling it a “very disturbing precedent!” INDEED! Like the young man in Hong Kong who got away with mutilating his girlfriend-from the mainland-while they were in Taiwan, then stuffed her corpse into a suitcase to bring it back to Hong Kong…goodness, WHY should these monsters be punished for their crimes against Chinese women? Apparently, you can get half the world supporting your freedom if you kill a woman from China! (Also, apparently, it’s evil that China holds trials and has…gasp, PRISONS! It’s OK in every other country, like mine, to lock up people without even a trial in a tent prison in Cuba that our military runs; put to death over 150 people who are later exonerated from their crimes; or just keep millions of mainly low-level minority prisoners in outdated jails with little to no rehabilitation..but CHINA putting someone on trial in their country? Seen a number of these post-apocalyptic shorts now, and this guy definitely had the cushiest post-apocalyptic life ever. Nice house, comfy bed, generator, music, oven, chicken nuggets and bananas. Not a bad gig. Sure beats wandering around the desert aimlessly wearing a gas mask.
That makes a change from the usual guns, killing and destruction type of apocalyptic short film, which leaves you with a sense of hope and perhaps even recovery. So well done !
"Dweebs can survive the apocalypse." That is either, for the relevant generation, very bad news or very hopeful news. You decide. Very different movie therefore, not because this is groundbreaking thinking, but because the genre has chosen to go the other way. I gave this a thumbs up purely because the story goes the opposite way from the rest of the genre. Today more than ever, that takes guts.👍
I liked this story. The actor was a great character actor and would have done what I would have done. There was a story here. Loneliness, survival and just making it through. He even wore a seat belt.
At his first port of call, our scavenger champion leaves with a toy car, and a tube of hemorrhoid cream. 30 seconds to go, and the hero lets a stranger in his house on a freezing day, and leaves the front door open! No wonder they left him behind!
I was on board with the entire thing, overlooked the technical errors like the light on that people keep mentioning. What really got me was him forcing her to leave the planet... Completely threw me. There were no indicators of a space ride but other than that seems pretty legit.
am i the only one wondering why he was sleeping outside while his car was right around the corner? wouldnt you sleep in the car or for that matter the house like 20 feet away? just saying.... if you're good with just entering and taking whatever you want wouldnt you also be willing to go in secure the place and sleep knowing youre at least locked away from others whom may want to do you harm?
Others were not evident, especially in the woods, but point taken. I would have removed the body and sanitized that rustic house, if for no other reason than to have backup safe houses.
He needs to think about setting up a vegetable garden in the Spring, assuming the apocalypse - whatever it is - allows for the essentials to grow things, and if he can muster up the will to go on living.

So he added gas to vehicle. Before he shook the can and seemed like very little gas was in the can. Then starts looting like he had a full can without tilting it. Then I noticed the generator was inside the house and running. Big no no. And he was cooking on a gas stove or maybe it was propane. But in a fancy neighborhood it would have been natural gas and there would be no one meaning the gas company and no electricity to supply gas to homes. Drank water from the waterway without filtering. Clean clothes, clean homes, clean streets. Went to a home and pulled in drive and walked up and started taking gas. Then went inside and checked out another clean place. Cabinets were empty but all doors closed and dead person under a sheet. Probably would have been smelling but he didn't appear phased. Enjoyed that he wasn't wearing a gas mask though. Tired of seeing the gas mask short films.
Why was gas can not sealed? It could fall over at worse and evaporate anyway? I know it's a small point but it's important especially as fuel seems short.
Neatly parked cars, power on still as the exterior light was still on!..and running a generator in his hallway, blazing lights..youd be covert not blatant!
much better than most PA attempts because there's no combat between hideously incompetent rubes. Most glaring aspects: he's got a gas stove, but gas pressure in a PA environment? The net on the basketball hoop at the school is pristine. I've seen a lot of hoops and none of them have perfect nets. He'd need a lot more gasoline than five gallons to keep the lights on at his home with a typical home generator. There should be abandoned cars everywhere, and some evidence of looting...
Nice little story with a lot of flaws, #1 his car is to clean, #2 he is using Internet I-tunes, #3 he is eating meat fresh vegetables. #4 he doesn't look run down or the twin sister... lol

itunes is a good pick. The veggies can be grown, but in the cold weather shown at the time they would need to be canned or at least stored properly. Potatoes can make it through a winter in a dark cool place. As for meat, he may have snared rabbits or killed a stray dog. Canned meats are not hard to come by, but his meat doesn't look steamed or stewed. He needs to move south and get some agriculture going. His new lady friend might make him use some calories. ;)
All these apocalyptic short films show people with clean clothes and new gear. How hard would it be to get some used and dirty stuff? The wardrobe can make or break one of these short films and should be a top priority second to the cast. Spotless vehicles in “abandoned neighborhoods” seem a little far fetched as well.
I was kinda hoping for the apocalypse to come so I didnt have to finish the movie... Everything was so squeaky clean? Im not that clean, and the shit hasn't hit the fan. And where are all the people, alive or dead? Did they all walk in an orderly fashion to a mass grave, jump in, and then self bury? Arrggg! The endless string of annoying questions are now left to rattle around inside my head... I need a hobby. If I start one of these post op shorts, I feel guilty if I dont see it through. So ya, no hpe for me, short of the end of days, or therapy!
