Elm trees are beautiful. Where I grew up in Niagara region there were hundreds of elm and sadly they died off in a relatively short time with Dutch elm disease. I didn’t see another elm until I moved to central alberta and there were elm trees everywhere. We had a huge old Chinese elm in our back yard, gorgeous, lacked fall colours though. There were many elm trees on the island we lived in British Columbia too that gave brilliant fall colour. Now I live in southern Nova Scotia, thousands of trees around, young and old trees but none of the trees are healthy. No elms out here but some massive beech trees. Beech trees don’t show much fall colours. Thanks for the information, always look forward to your next video.
I think you have the most informative videos on gardening and plants on UA-cam. Your property is just so stunning. How many acres is the area just to get a perspective of the landscape. Thank you.
Your garden design is similar to what I am doing. My husband said eventually he wont have any grass to mow. Really enjoying your videos. Info is great.
Thanks for the great information! In Idaho, we have a terrible Elm (Siberian) that grows everywhere. It reseeds and pops up all over my yard with long taproots. I'm glad there are varieties out there that don't do that!
I’m looking for street tree to plant near our driveway. This looks perfect. Would this tree require much upkeep? Love your channel, one of my favorites.
Love watching and learning from your videos. Thanks for sharing.
☺

I had meant to mention that the B&B tree shown in the video was grown and purchased from Jefferies Nursery in Manitoba, Canada.
@@gardenhike will give it a try. I'm in Saskatchewan and ordering from Jeffries.
Beautiful tree! More shade tree videos please

Glad to hear you are enjoying the videos! I’m on 2 Acres.

Ha, Ha, yeah. I’ve got less grass to mow too, but I think I have to turn around so often now it’s taking me twice as long 😊.
Beautiful tree. What do you think about autumn purple ash?

Yes. There may be some annual maintenance pruning up lower branches if visibility becomes an issue.
Correction, I meant to say no, not much upkeep, other than the occasional lower branch pruning.
How did your blue arrow transplant go? Did it survive? I had to move one recently , used a lot of root and grow. Hoping for a good outcome!
Yes. It actually did better than I expected. Planning on doing a follow up video soon.
