+jkesmoker People who feint and then bitch about 3rd person are just baffling. 3p or 1st is pretty much just preference. 1st is actually easier for a whole lot of things. Acting like it's some huge, cheap advantage is just... what? Maybe in a game of hide and seek.
The combination of the tone in this guy's voice and the background music makes him sound like a skilled ninja talking about the arts of war, haha. Good video with some interesting techniques I've never really considered attempting. Maybe this'll help me against those god awful feinters. Torn Banner themselves refer to feinting, in their Tutorial, by saying "Good, now you can piss people off with your shady tricks!", but at the same time there is a level of realism in it; I'm a newbie in IRL Buhurt sport (Medieval combat, look it up), and found that "feinting" is actually useful to an extent, but for a skilled Buhurt-practicer it is easier to block than it is for a skilled Chivalry-player. People need to stop saying "Combat is unrealistic, it's so broken" because Chivalry intentionally has a semi-realistic combat system; it includes some realistic aspects but they are all lacking proper realism in one way or another. One example is how four blows with a longsword to a full-armored knight would not kill or dismember him. A hammer, perhaps with a large spike on the back of the hammerhead, could puncture a knight's armor. Making a combat system where you'd HAVE to get a hammer to defeat a knight because with a sword you'd just be bashing him ten times until he'd get knocked out would be very difficult to make, and would prove difficult to pull off in such a fast-paced competitive game. -The developers of Mordhau have said this themselves. Their new game is looking to be amazing with a lot more controls and a lot more fast-paced battles than Chivalry, so quickly disposing of someone, or proving who's the best fighter, would be settled by the players' skills with the game's original controls, and not by who pulls off the best "rainbow" or any other ballerina-moves, because the fight-mechanics will be so much more... somethingsomething. Just watch the devblogs they've posted, you'll see what I mean. And now I realized that I've just written a friggin article.. Sorry, everyone!
nice video. I think you should have covered more about when' to do each of the 3 tactics. and perhaps more on how to do them, especially the dodge. Also your chivalry looks so smooth. I play at 80ish ping usually, and I get about half the animation you do.
This was the exact tutorial I wanted to see from you next, so thanks. Would gladly watch a second video on the subject, maybe showing more double parries and dodges from your pov and talking about punishing a feint instead of going on the defensive.
+Caleb Crumpton Especially with the increased stamina cost on doege in Mercs, however, you will obviously still try to read feints as that would be better than dooping stamina wise.
Thanks for this video. Many players of Chivalry fail to realize that feints are a core mechanic designed to throw off your opponents parry. They are really no different than drags or reverse overheads which likewise are used to throw off the timing of an opponents parry, but for some reason are more accepted by the community.
Watching this for Mordhau trickz. I was wondering how you got so good so quickly (since Mordhau is relatively new), then realized you've been playing this style of game for years.
Feints are a mechanic built into the game. I'm level 43 and I use them when I need to. Fuck your chivalry, on the battlefields and in the arenas it's life or death.
Really, MAA are the worse enemy to duel against. Not worrying about feints and gambling your way to victory and the fact that punishing their feints can easily backfire. Especially so when it's Knight vs MAA
once you hit rank 15 (which happens mere hours after playing) you get fucking destroyed by players breaking animations and game mechanics, new players join and leave once they get sick of that, which is why it is dying. I went from dominating matches with fair fights and no tricks, faints and blocks overheads and stabs etc going 40-2 most games, to being lucky to get one cheap ass backstab to some guy already half dead, because some dude will shove his head up his ass and block my attack whilst also swinging 3 times in the time it takes me to swing once xD
playing 3rd person will limit your ability as a play (competitively) but do what is fun for you rather than tryharding, the competitive scene has been dead a long time.
I see lots of people running away not to fall for feint, such uggly gameplay when I see a knight or vanguard doing this shit and slashing. Unfortunatly most high levels play like that. Made me wanna stop playing for a while. Also...There's no such thing as reading feints. I thought you would mention that every character howls before performing a true swing. You should parry when you hear your oponent howl. However, even if you are aware of this, you won't be able to react when facing the fastest weapons. So against these weapons you should always parry, if you fall for a feint, turn 180° and do the uggly run/exploit OR be a god damn man and strike/kick back as fast as you can. By performing the former most of the time you will be able to escape since these weapons are generally shorter.
+GIRU GIRU Which part was unclear ? The ugglyness I refer to is the tatic of turning 180° and strafing/jumping away from your oponent, all this in full plate armour. Also, let us not forget these heavy armored classes can outrun the lighter classes, have better reach, can swing in 360°, etc... My point being, you want to prove your ability stick with the underpowered classes. (maa and archer)
+machado souza Ahhh, nothing unrealistic about running OR jumping in Plate armour.....the issue is with your way of thinking, not this particular game mechanic. Stamina should drain faster...but that's about it.
None of the "ballerina shit" in this game is a glitch. The developers have openly said drags are purposeful from the beginning of the game. Before you open you mouth full of shit do some research if your capable. And "rohing" is not a fucking word
Sadly it has nothing to do with reality of medieval fencing. AoC and Chiv were fun when they lasted, but the combat system and animations are hilariously broken.
If I don't know what I'm doing then the enemy sure as hell won't.
The meta in this game has gotten to the point where it makes the combat system look broken and clunky when I watch someone play.
the meta now is still that, but you don't need to do it.
@@Tribune_of_Italia the meta is arguably very much worse than this. It makes this look like a bot fight in comparison. And yet I do it.
I love when a man at arms calls me a noob because I feint them after their third back dodge
+Cros This
You were bitching about my feints today, I rek u anytiem boi
Dirxano lol who are you? I don't complain about feints you mug
it's emi and maybe you bragged about gambling idk fite me tho
lol oh yea you were just gambling making it easier for me
OMG. level 60 and still feint!
+Flor Lmao
+jkesmoker I play 4th person?
+Flor omg ppl still cry about feints

jkesmoker No idea, I play in AU and our servers all allow 3rd person. Conversely almost all high ranks hate feinting there, myself included.
make a video about shittalking please, i've never been good at that
+afaultytoaster youve come to the right place
This is some splendid material. Thanks for the tutorial mate, you helped me a lot!
"Otherwise the game would be about breaking animations and stamina wars."
Finally, someone understands. That is all Chivalry is now.
good sophax music
"It's impossible to win if you think that you've already lost."

Great vid. The hate against feints is real - even among rank 50+ but you break it down well. Sub'd in case you make any more :)
really good analysis, please do more high tier tutorials
how so?
This was the exact tutorial I wanted to see from you next, so thanks. Would gladly watch a second video on the subject, maybe showing more double parries and dodges from your pov and talking about punishing a feint instead of going on the defensive.
Should be noted that DOOP can put you behind in a stamina war, and also has limited usefulness against zweis and other long slow weapons
+Caleb Crumpton Especially with the increased stamina cost on doege in Mercs, however, you will obviously still try to read feints as that would be better than dooping stamina wise.
I'd love to see a video on constructing useful combos for various situations and what your experience has been for them!
excellent video, please make more in depth stuff like this
breaking animations, never have u ever seen an good man at arms
Very insightful video, thanks for sharing all this valuable info. :)
Hi, agresiv here. Please, make a video on how to read reverse overheads.
Thanks for this video. Many players of Chivalry fail to realize that feints are a core mechanic designed to throw off your opponents parry. They are really no different than drags or reverse overheads which likewise are used to throw off the timing of an opponents parry, but for some reason are more accepted by the community.
fight me no feint noob and see what happens
Very nice video,Giru!
nice video +giru giru,I still have a long way to read/defend myself agaisnt feints, however i hope to get better with your videos :D
pls make a video about making combos/breaking animations and how to parry more consistent, thx
very nice man! thanks for the help, please make a video in how to block properly
please can you make a video how to defend against spinning attacks like reverse overheads?
+GIRU GIRU Thanks!
Great job,great vid,keep it up.
good video explains feints very well
Watching this for Mordhau trickz. I was wondering how you got so good so quickly (since Mordhau is relatively new), then realized you've been playing this style of game for years.
its not stamina wars and breaking animations without feints.. its endurance practise and being calm.
Nice one Giru. Something I need to work on ...
- Merlin
Feints are a mechanic built into the game. I'm level 43 and I use them when I need to. Fuck your chivalry, on the battlefields and in the arenas it's life or death.
0:31 "playing with unrestricted feints"
Hey Giru!
Butcher here, didn't know that you had a channel :)
Great content, cheers.
I'm a bit new to the game and can someone please tell me what feints are?everyone talks about them
great video man thanks a lot !
How to read and defend drags, how to beat MAA as a knight
***** I've found the best way to beat a MAA without a shield is to feint a stab and then overhead for a one shot
Ty for this vid.I will definitely use
Really, MAA are the worse enemy to duel against. Not worrying about feints and gambling your way to victory and the fact that punishing their feints can easily backfire. Especially so when it's Knight vs MAA
oh hey look someone who's ACTUALLY good at this
Good job GIRU.
great video !
Why dont we have some server with feint disabled . Cryers would stop and feinters would have fun with their bro's ...
thanks! this really helped!
Why feints are frowned upon but spins are not?
how can i get that point of look? i mean fov
Thanks :)
Reverse overhead must be forbiden
still great advice even for mordhau
Great vid
good video man
Make More "How To" Videos Plz There Really Helpfull
i sometimes react to feints by attacking, but they call it a gamble. is this correct?
I'd call it a hit trade since you see the feint and just attack during their real attack
hiw to parry drags
"otherwise the game would just be about breaking animations and stamina wars" it is. Lol.

xD dam man
What's y'all's option on playing 3rd person
playing 3rd person will limit your ability as a play (competitively) but do what is fun for you rather than tryharding, the competitive scene has been dead a long time.
how do I git gud ?? make vido pls
thanks that helps alot!
Why you say "reading the feint" you mean predicting whether or not they're going to feint, or reacting to it, when you see it?
It's easy to read feints on console XD the one thing 30 frames is good for.
do more kthx
YOUNG GIRU
I thought I was decent at Chivalry, holding on to a 2.4 KDR, but holy shit.
I'm so casual.
xD
Check out MORDHAU upcoming game based on chivalry
+Connor Parrish How do you know your KDR?
Sooooo maybe I keep track with paper and pen.
+Connor Parrish lawl
+Connor Parrish whatever you want to do, just do it. And maybe buy some more paper

Turning around and running away is an exploit now?
+machado souza Ahhh, nothing unrealistic about running OR jumping in Plate armour.....the issue is with your way of thinking, not this particular game mechanic. Stamina should drain faster...but that's about it.
geez this game does not look nearly as good as I remember it lol

Feints haters come...

chiv 2 confirmed mage-at-arms dab out of parry?
HandsUp
Feinters should be banned
Feinting is for cowards and nubs
cam at meh brah
rohing isnt even competitive, your just breaking the animations. your exploiting a glitch.

My god that combat looks bad as fuck
crouching and spinning all the time sucks
lol wtf is that spin bull shit... turning around so your sword hits while your back is to the enemy? lame....
