    What's the difference between a working hunter saddle and hunter saddle is there a difference??

      Great question. The working hunter is the description of the class. There may be a “Model hunter”, a “ Conformation Hunter” , “Pony Hunter” each class has a different specification.

    Great video. I think a behind the scenes/ a day with a horse show judge vlog would be fun. I really like the barn end lesson videos. The lesson videos are great for other instructors and riders at the same level to watch and learn from. I watch lesson videos that I am able to hear the instructor or clinician more than any other videos because they are so helpful and it’s like auditing a clinic or a lesson and I’m able to learn from other instructors that I may never get a chance to otherwise learn from.

      thank you so much... I appreciate your input.
      I like sharing information about riding and horses.
      Having a video about behind the scenes at a horse show would be a lot of fun, although i'm not sure that horse show organizers would like it too much. ;)

    Anything really. Rider turn out, ground work. There are new wide stirrup leathers that are supposed to be easier to hold leg position -- are they allowed?

    • @LauraKellandMay
      @LauraKellandMay  5 років тому

      not sure on the stirrup leathers.
      I'll have to see them and get back to you.
      How wide exactly are they?

      @@re-ridersuzanne I looked them up! they look great.
      I checked the rules. The rules say so long as the stirrup leather hangs freely from the outside of the saddle it is okay.
      If you are going to a horse show check your division specifications and also check with the steward at the horse show just to make sure. When new tack and equipment comes out there are always questions and possible rule amendments. So it is wise to check.

    May I ask does it affect your score if your horse rubbed a little bit of the top of his tail out? So it can’t be plaited. Will it matter?

    • @LauraKellandMay
      @LauraKellandMay  3 роки тому

      great question...
      for me, the first thing a horse has to do is have a good performance. It has to get to all the jumps correctly, correct leads, proper pace and leave all the jumps up.
      I think at a top level show in good company with exceptional horses and riders the judge may notice that your horse's tail isn't braided.
      BUT
      If your horse has a good pace, good movement, good jump and got to all of the correct take of spots, then a braided tail may not make a difference.
      At a local, unrated or schooling show, your horse's performance outweighs the braided tail.
      Send me a photo of your horse's tail, ThistleRidge @ hotmail . com
      Remove the spaces...

    Very helpful! Does the ribbon take points away from your under saddle score?

    • @LauraKellandMay

      Hey... Thank you. I appreciate it. Sometimes the simple things are just what you need to get noticed in the competition ring.🐴🏇🐎

      The red ribbon does NOT take away from your under saddle because judges understand that sometimes horses need a bit more room and that horse's kick. AND sometimes competitors just don't respect other horse's space and crowd them in and need reminding to stay away. I personally have never lowered a score because a horse has a red ribbon in its tail. I have recorded if someone has cut someone else off in the competition tho! 😜
