Honestly Lae'zel voicing it too when she questions why he'd want forgiveness in a fiery death and pointing out that Mystra is demanding. When the person in the party who would literally die for their god queen is questioning the logic of dying for a god to earn forgiveness, you know you've messed up

Poor Tara 😢 she just wants to keep her son safe. I also love how she calls him Gale when she gets upset and tries to reach him.
Great line delivery this scene. The defeated air in Tara saying "you're going to kill me" always gets me. It's shattering to hear it from someone who wants nothing but the best for you.
Tara's fierce love for Gale is moving. But I just need to take a second to appreciate Lae'zel's 🔥🔥🔥 smackdown of Mystra. She nailed PERFECTLY why the b!tch is horrible and how Gale deserves so much better.
To be fair Mystra is mostly concerned about the weave, but considering she is weave itself, that does not change the fact
Tara does not ask at the end, how Gale feels about that, but only how it would make her feel -- and instead supporting him in some way she breaks the contact because she is hurt -- not because she wants him to live, but she wants not to lose him.
When somebody truly loves another, it is not a self-centered type of love like I have seen. But maybe I ask too much from a cat.

She doesn't ask him because there's no point; there's two possible reasons for him to consider going through with it and neither is going to change her response. Not being able to bare seeing someone you love throw their lives away over reasons you don't consider good enough hurts too much to act reasonably. That's an all too understandable feeling.

Just because you don't like cats doesn't mean her love is selfish. She's been with Gale since he was a kid. She knows his parents and doesn't want to see him throw his life away. Especially since it'd hurt more than just Tara if he died

Lae'zel was like "that was rough, you wanna be scholars together?"
The animators did a fantastic job on Tara's reactions. When her ears pulled flat, it matched the VA's emotion beautifully and really added to the scene. And her swatting a paw when disstressedly telling Gale she didn't want to look at him anymore matched her vocals purrfectly.
I have to do Gale origin just to see Tara in my camp.
This made me bloody cry at my pc... still sobbing writing. Gods I love Tara so damn much. Larian knew exactly what this interaction would do to us man... I could never hurt her like that, so thank you for taking the hit for us xD

@@deffdefying4803 One can see that this way. I see her reaction more as somebody that does not love another person for itself. It does not sound selfless to me, but like somebody that loses a valuable thing "you are my pet".
Of course, that is bound to some degree of interpretation and others might see this different, but that was my understanding.

Of course, it is sincere, but it is also egoistic IMHO.
@@What_do_I_Think That.. sounds like an understanding stripped of any sort of nuance or context with all due respect. "You are my pet and I'm yours" is pretty blatantly intimate endearment, not romantically of course but the kind of comfortable formed when you're close to someone. As for how she responds in the end... Yea, that's honestly a pretty real response; Not the RIGHT response but a pretty real one when Gale takes a resolute stance of self sacrifice
