- Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to anime theory, where I went through a whole 37 episode anime in a matter of a couple days. Today, we cover the ever-popular Death Note, and look into the possible actions of a certain end-anime character.

Dang it, that's the 5th pepperoni slice to fly away this week.
ryuk literally showed no emotion to light dying after the 6 years they spent, he was like ‘kbye’ when light died
I SHOULD BE SAD READING YOUR COMMENT LOL BUT THE WAY YOU PUT IT IS SO FUNNIe
Well they did meet again after he died
Edit:just search up light becomes a shinigami if you wanna know more
He literally has been alive for so fucking long he’s probably seen some crazy shit and or just does not give a fuck about anything. His only motive throughout was pleasure so😭
Ryuk actually never cared for light
ryuk just kinda had light there as a source of entertainment
Near cheated by using a PLOT HOLE. The biggest plot hole was when Near just assumed Mikimi out of no where was connected to Kira by looking at a TV. Kira had thousands of supporters, but that scene where Near was just looking at TV out of the hundreds of supporters, he chose Mikimi randomly. That was BS
Edit: three years later, never thought this comment would blow up. Thanks guys. And i saw the comments pointing out how the Manga did things a different
MikeBNumba6 this is the comment I've been looking for that scene is where the anime went down hill fast!
That's right, the only reason Near won is because the author had to end the manga and make Kira lose, cos' if it wasn't the case, Light would never lose to Near. The plot armor was too strong, Light fucking outplayed L, he was way smater than Near.
the truth has been spoken!
Yeah, tbh the part with near at the end made this anime less epic. Kinda "wtf is this shit" kind of ending.
At the same time tho, u want to see Light live on n kill more muhahaha
While I was watching this I took a chip and ATE IT.
WOAH THERE
B R U H, T H A T ' S D E E P
Absolute mad lad
not to be rude but you just made it sound less funny :/
Ghostly why?
Honestly the entire world was so committed to Kira at the end of the series that if Light just went into custody he may have been able to talk his way out.
Will Smith's Knee I don’t really think that would have made him free. Like they would still say he murdered ppl
@@jakeperalta8011 Yeah some would definitely say that, but there would also definitely be supporters of his that would say he was justified. It would just depend on how screwed up the world had become at that point. I think it would be interesting to watch
Reminds me of gone girl
I guess they needed Ryuk to kill Light, as stated in the beginning of the series by him. Ryuk says he can't wait that long if he gets arrested
Seriously he couldve
How Near solved the case faster than L:
L:
- he was alone (he has the task force but most of them aren't as loyal as Near's task force)
- he had 7 billion people as suspect
- he had kira by his side monitoring his every move so he cannot act as fast as he could
- he had no mentor (by his intelligence)
Near:
- he had mello (his equally intelligent partner/enemy who helped catch kira) + his loyal taskforce
- he only had 1 suspect (light yagami)
- kira doesn't even know where near lived or what he's actually doing at any given moment
- L already solved the case, he just needed some solid evidence of which Near provided
- mentored by L
Dranreb Dev L actually rounded the suspects to the kanto region of japan or even just the 2 people ray penber was investigating
Dranreb Dev near only won because of mikamis screw up
Near really didn't solve the case earlier than l. Between the 3 year time skip, both him and mello were trying to find kira
Dranreb Dev but also people didn’t take L seriously so this is what happened:
L : Light is Kira
Everyone: no he's not !
Near : Light is Kira
Everyone: Genius
@@kx4669 And Mello considering the possibility of a fake notebook
Tbh if he just got the eye deal none of this really would’ve happened
@vetoast shorter than 30mins? He had in that warehouse
@vetoast that's what I am saying he should've take the deal he still would have lived more than those 30min
Quares I mean he lived with the notebook for 6+ years I think it wasn’t just 30 mins
Light denied the eye deal because he wanted to rule the world for as long as possible, if he had done the eye deal his life span would be cut in half, sure he could’ve won but that’s light for ya
Tbh if light wasn't an ego fueled attention whore he wouldn't've left a trail of heart attacks in the first place
*spoiler* near was googling: “is light kira?”
Cuz to ryuk light is just another average human
Oh wait he was sh-
Google result : *you have cancer*
He asked ChatGPT
honestly light shot himself in the foot when he was like 'you lose'
seriously so cocky
o i didn't see that part i think he could've won if he didn't doubt near and he was so cocky to
He would have lost either way, so that is acceptable since in his mind he would never see them again
@@intimpulliber7376 well yeah plot hole would have killed him regardless, but Light's plan was perfects, but Mikimi ruined it at the end
The fact was that near lifespan is just 12 days left if he didn't do this meeting so Near would die instantly so light would won the game by this
(HOW I KNOW THAT BECAUSE I SEE HIS LIFESPAN IN AT THEIR HEAD BY MIKIMI EYES)
why did you die L😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
L means both lawilent and light 😭😭😭😭😭
@@Okabe_Rintaro_ wait so your telling me Near would have died in 12 days if weren't for Mikami's fuck up?
Lights biggest mistake was becoming Kira in the first place. He should have stayed FULLY unknown until a much later date after getting the book.
until Light confirmed the existence of such a being, the concept was mere speculation though not unfounded. perhaps Light's best weapon was his intel. he had most of it while L and his team had very little.
+kristine ofeldt but doesn't it also make him but doesn't it also make him dumb in a way because he didn't think ahead of things what would happen if I use this thing so much you didn't think that the police weren't going to realize that he was close to the area's every time he used a notebook he had to see their face and It All Happened around Japan and some people he had to go close to them to see their face eventually he should have known the police would be on to him I guess he thought they wouldn't open up with open arms and just call him master I guess he was thinking too much with pride I thought it all worked out for him
+Jonathan Mason I actually said you didn't think and one of the sentences but I meant he didn't think it was a typo I'm using voice text so don't get all mad
+Jonathan Mason and if there's a bunch of typos in there I'm sorry I'm about to read the sentence just to make sure there's not and I'll try over again
People would never be afraid of him and respect the "kira" entity if there wasn't any. He wanted to be known because no one would fear him if no one knew of his existence. He needs to be known for people to fear him and stop comiting crimes.
L is the reason I want to be a criminologist.
Who you studying to be? Batman?
The anime helps to be determined.
Cool
Light was the reason i wanna be a God
wide neck I’m also on lights side here. Kill them all and be god.
If mikami didn’t screw things up and break his habits, I’m pretty sure light would’ve won
Dammit Mikami!!! >~
Lgbhg Yagami was a character not just an annoying little kid who always play with toys and his hairs
Preston Sandlin no if that the case. the N and Light meeting would never happen. then N would do more planning
Light screwed up. He told Mikami that Mikami was not to make any UNNECESSARY actions.
Killing Takeda was necessary and since Light didn't keep Mikami in the loop Mikami did what he thought he had to seeing how he thought that his god couldn't operate freely.
If Light had been truly smart he would've told Mikami to keep a piece of the DN on himself at all times.
But then again, his entire plan was pathetic to begin with. Mikami takes a picture of the victim and sends it to someone on his phone, then writes down their name and then they die. Any genious would easily realize that there really isn't any need to send the pictures so who is he sending it to and why? It's not a stretch to say that L, Near or even Mello SHOULD'VE connected the dots and assumed that somebody else is probably doing the killings instead of Mikami.
Add to that the fact that Mikami operates in plain sight, something that just doesn't add up when there is agents sweeping vocal Kira supporters with intimate relationships to Takeda who are COMPLETELY AWARE OF THE DEATH NOTE!
Honestly if anything the one who cheated is Light. He never figured out L's name, he just manipulated Misa's crazy ass suicidal shinigami into doing it...didn't Rem said she'd kill Light if Misa were to die? Why did she kill L instead? fucking bitch
L had Light’s dad holding him back
Oz Society lols
Oz Society really?
And that's a fact.
@@ondrejvolecek7215 ikr
A lot of things factored into it. The police force was holding L back for the majority of the series. Near really has no emotions so that won’t work out easily.
ive watched death note like 5x from start to finish, and im pretty sure i understand the ending perfectly. try to correct me if you see any flaws.
The ONLY reason light lost to near was because mikami took it upon himself to kill takada when Mello kidnapped her. in order to actually kill her, he needed to go BACK to the bank a 2nd time in the same day in order to take out the death note, which was Very unusual for his character, as his schedule is like clockwork. he was being followed by giovanni when he decided to go back to the bank to kill kiyomi, and after he left giovanni stole the death note from his bag or w.e.
now near had the REAL death note, which is why they were able to make a duplicate of it. light anticipated they would try to make a duplicate, but i dont think light anticipated that mikami would try to kill takada, because light killed her himself, ironically at the same time mikami did. if mikami didnt go back to the bank in order to tie up the loose end of killing takada, giovanni never would have suspected something was wrong with him going back to the bank, following him in, and then stealing the death note from his bag.
if mikami didnt do that, i think light truely would have beat near because he wouldnt have had the real death note, he wouldnt have been able to copy it, and he wouldnt have put a fake page in the spot where the final meeting was going to take place.
if they didnt have access to the real death note, they wouldnt have been able to make a fake page, and lights plan would have ultimately worked in the end, everyone would have been killed and KIRA WOULD HAVE WON.
xNight Wing You say that like it's unfair for Light to lose in this way, but what about the times he got lucky? He ran into Naomi Misora like there "was a God on his side."
I definitely don't like Near as much as L, but this hatred for the ending is bullshit. Light didn't completely get to where he was by his intelligence alone.
in not saying it was unfair, I'm saying it's 100% mikami's fault that light lost.
in ep 36 light predicted exactly that near was going to do, but didn't anticipate that mikami went back to kill takada, because he took care of that himself, so he didn't account for that in his plan.
if mikami didn't go back to kill takada, and everything played out as it did in the anime, light would have won
xNight Wing It is Mikami's fault for getting exposed, but it's also Light's fault for losing for disposing all of his allies. He cried out for Misa and Takada in the end, but one is dead and the other is basically brainless. You could say he had no choice, but someone of his intelligence could have found a way.
It's annoying that people say the ending is so terrible, when the series went from a 10 to an 8 at most.
well miss wasn't THAT dumb. she k we how to follow orders, but in terms of improvising, you're right.
but still, light didn't use her at all in the end because he was so sure he was gonna be right. I think should have had a failsafe with miss to kill near and everyone else in case mikami failed. but he didn't do that.
honestly it was prob plot armor for near because even tho we all love light, the antihero NEVER wins
Yeah. When people ask "okay, so how would you picture a better ending?" they'd always go with Light winning. It's annoying tbh. While the series is good, he never had any real setbacks, or moments that made him quake in his boots.
I feel like we got cheated out of a good death for L too. I get that Light manipulated Rem, but still, Misa wasn't in any immediate danger. She didn't NEED to sacrifice herself.
Misa committed suicide because light died and also she didn’t remember that light was Kira but now that she knows that light is Kira she knows she lost both of the things that she lived for
EDIT: she relinquished ownership of the notebook if you don’t remember
And she made the eye deal twice, which fourth her remaining life span
Sasuke Uchiha that doesn’t affect her since rem died for her extending her life span to a shinigami life span
@@SasukeUchiha-ly8uz but rem gave his life for her so she lived for at least 1000 more years probably
Felipe Gomes Good explanation. Didn’t even realize that
oscar_is_garbage yes, and also she got gelus’ lifespan, the shinigami who saved her before. She had a lot of lifespan left.
actually I think that after Light defeated L he let his guard down. In that sense your theory adds up.
Yeah, Light got too cocky...
L was never defeated ;-;
Light couldn't defeat him so he had to get the stupid shinigami to do it for him.... FFEIG9UGUKFIGKFIHATYREYOTIUYLOIGHT
laaaa. Haha.
well it you actually look at it light had no idea there was even an L figure untill episode 2 when he tried to kill the fake L. So if you see it my way, he already had the shinigami power before L was introduced. So no death note no L.
I mean how L died. Light manipulated Rem (I think that's it's name) into killing L because Light couldn't kill him by himself ;-; REM HOW COULD YOU

Near: I had an agent take the notebook and make a complete copy of it in one night. Handwriting and all in one night
Me: THAT'S BULLSHIT!
Shut up
I have mikami check every part of the book every day
Yeah that was a bit absurd, it wouldn't have been far fetched to assume that Near had prepared backup fake notebooks for such an eventuality. That would have been better. Still loved the ending
mini2239 copying a few pages of a book (the death note was barely filled up) in 24 hours? I could do that within 4-5 hours. Not impossible at all
@@someguy4818 Yes but remember Near replaced the entire real notebook in a night. He only replaced a few pages from Light's fake notebook
This theory was actually brought up at the end of the manga books by Matsuda. He theorized that Near used the notebook to control Mikami before he headed to the warehouse. This would explain why Mikami didn't realize the notebooks had been switched. Knowing Light, he would have told Mikami to test the book before using it, since he already realized Near would try to switch out some pages. Also, in the manga it's said that Mikami died 10 days after Near caught Light. He didn't kill himself. He died in jail. If you read through the manga, Matsuda explains everything in detail. I just thought I would mention that this theory is backed up by the manga.
Imagine Glasses the theory is disproven by the author’s facts iirc, it states that death note users with the shinigami eyes are immune to the influences of the death note.
So wouldn’t work in the Anime
Near breaking his promise like that
Mikami had the shinigami eyes, therefore he is immune to the death note. He cannot be controlled by it.
No I think that light killed Mikami and Misa. He probably thought that around that time, he would have won and Mikami would’ve wrote the names down. Then Mikami and Misa would be of no use to him. His plan was to first win against Near and then to kill everyone who knew of the existence of the notebook. If Near did write Mikami’s name, he wouldn’t also need to write Misa’s. I don’t know, this is just my theory
I don't think you can cheat in a game where there are simply no rules at all.
cheat when hes the one who was supposed to catch the person who used the notebook, personally i think like l he is too moral to do that.
Exactly!
No No: I FUCKING agree bro✊
No No ikr
In this video the creator I think is defining "cheat" as breaking the principles one lives by. L would never have used the deathnote, and it's implied Near has the same moral code, but this video suggests he's not above using the deathnote.
I myself finished Death Note yesterday morning. Now I’ve been watching a bunch of theory and summary videos. Death Note might actually be one of my favorite anime now.
It's originality and unique execution made it even more amazing. The whole anime is mostly people having monologues and talking to each other, but the way the writer handles most details and how the story progresses is what labels it as brilliant writing. I believe death note is one of the biggest shows that dominated their genre (police and chasing criminals) I'm a fan :)
I really enjoyed the first half but damn when L died it was frustrating also when Light died wished it was L who beat Light or Light the one who won
aesie i mean if u think about it technically L did win. He knew Light was Kira from the start just could never prove it, but he made sure Near and Mello would be able to carry his work on. They acted on L’s work and suspicions and they were actually able to prove Light being Kira. So if u think about it actually was L who beat Light ultimately. He just did so through Near and Melo
Just finished it and i’m watching these videos. not satisfied with the ending at all
EBK Glocke that’s understandable, a lot of people didn’t like the second half of the show for one reason or another. I enjoyed it though, it was interesting to see that there were others like L, even in training. We never did see much of that school... But hey, I get it. L is the perfect antagonist for Light and Near doesn’t really fill that role perfectly. Or perhaps you mean Light’s death, in that case I don’t really have anything to say other than to remind you it was destined to happen like that. OR maybe you mean the final confrontation, in which case I got nothing because I thoroughly enjoyed it. Light went crazy and showed everyone his true colors, the character interactions in that scene were amazing. Well, I’m rambling now so I’ll end the reply here. I was personally satisfied but it’s ok if you weren’t, everyone has their own thoughts and opinions. To each their own. Have a good day/night.
I am honestly angry that light lost to near
Everyone is
Same
How could light (who beat L) lose to near even after 6 years (and btw near stated that he was not as smart as L)
@@adinghimire5833 I'm not and I'm apart of everyone by definition
@@Adam-bx7rn Light didn't just loss to Near, he lost to Near and Mello. Plus they had Light as suspect due to L, so if you want, count it as all three taking Kira/Light down.
If light didn’t scream “IM GONNA WRITE YOUR NAME” in the end with the paper in the watch and just acted like he was lying down he would have gotten it too bad he is too cocky
Actually, Light still would have been caught because Mikamani didn't right Light's name in the death note.
@@minecraftminertime not if he managed to write everyone's names on the note first... and even if he didn't know which of the English names belonged to which SPK member, he *maybe* could have just written that Matsuda shot everyone including himself... though it's unlikely he had time for that
Caleb Langan He can’t do that, that’s against the rules.
this is why the dub ruins this scene, in japanese he whispers it and he doesnt say hes writing his name in the dub or sub idk what your talking about, but the dub he yells it like its a comic book mustache twirling villian line, just ad a muahaha and its all set, in sub he is trying to distract near by tempting him to test his notebook to see if its really fake, then trys to use that time to write, its less obvious but they catch on and his plan doesnt work,
The manga does it better.
It should have been L who defeated Light and not Near.
that is fax
Light was smarter than L
And also near.
Adwait Patankar no 👎
@@amrm5916 he was way smarter than near. May not be so with L.
Adwait Patankar you’re right
The end was so unsatisfying and disappointing
I loved light's character
And I also loved L , I even cried in the 25th episode where he died
But it would have less disappointing if L defeated light or if light would have won
nah your just crazy near and mello worked well together to beat L
I would have liked if after he’d realized he was going to die, he had contacted Near and maybe Mello and had them follow a plan to catch Light. Instead of having Watari erase everything about the investigation, he tells him to send it to Near and Mello, so they can continue the investigation, and for a while you think they’re only acting on their own, just using the info L had gathered, but then in the last episode it’s revealed that L had left them instructions on how to trap Kira
@@zeon_cipher5799 It doesn't really matter how well they worked together. It's more the fact that two ex machina characters that we barely got to know came out on top.
@@willsmithsknee2245 barely got to know? what they both had there own styles and personality which combined made like the former L which i thought made sense.
I was hoping there would be some netero vs mereum type shit and it would all work out in the end but NAH
Couldn't Light just've said something like "What if you used the Death Note to control Mikami's actions and have him exclude just my name?" when Near showed everyone the names in the book.
Dionysus yeah, seriously.
Damn, Near would not see THAT coming! It would make everything (a bit more) interesting
Because that would mean nothing, it wouldn't deserve a bigger response that "what if not?"
He already said "I WON" so yeah, getting out was possible but Light fucked himself
Near can easily show that mikami's name is not in his book
The ending of this anime made me very angry.
It made a lot of people angry, but I didn't mind it personally.
Agreed.....
Kind of, but there was also ear just kind of winning out of nowhere.
***** Because it was poorly written with deus ex machina out of nowhere at the ending.
a lot of people liked the ending...the only reason you must be mad is you hated that light lost...
I thought he killed himself because he couldn’t live with the mistake he made, and for letting down his god - plus him killing himself was like a last act of loyalty to Light who managed to get away for a little
It was that or just complete denial which led him to kill himself
In the manga he went crazy 10 days later and died in prison. Also where the heck did Mikami bleed that much from a little pen stab
@@backwardsangels prob the aorta the part of the heart where all the blood is being pumpt trough the body.basically mikami was bleeding out of a place thats meant to supply the whole body. Not at once though but the wound is getting bigger and bigger because of the pumping.

NANI?!?
I think there is a central problem in deathnote's story. And that is there is never any alternate suspects or other possibilities. When L and Near suspect Light, the suspicions does not have any hard evidence and based mostly on feelings. Both of them admit Light is a long shot ranging from 5%-7%(initial assessment). But they both hound that long shot lead to death. Realistically, an criminal investigations will have many suspects that will prevent putting so much effort into one hail marry attempt result in much success.
Good point now here's why light is the only suspect.
He killed FBI agents that were ONLY tracking 14 families and he was in the 14.
He had to have seen L face or been close to him to kill him which is why Near assumed it was him.
Also out of all the possible suspects Light would have always been the most intelligent. Anyone else probably would have gotten caught by early on by L and wouldn't be haven't had put up much of a struggle.
Wish Make
I do admit for near it makes more sense. but for L, he just conveniently fixates on Light without any other potential suspects popping up. Light is intelligent, but i feel his intelligence is not portrayed as being peerless. Also the reason this case is difficult to solve is primary because the supernatural deathnote is way more powerful than traditional murder weapons, it is not entirely due to the intelligence of the perpetrator. If you look at real unsolved cases like zodiac killer or jack the ripper, there are always many possible suspects.
Arsène Lupin yeah however I remember they did continue to keep searching for anyone even when light was the main suspect. I mean Light was the main person L had on his mind but they did continue to keep searching for anyone else that could be a possible suspect.
Light became the prime suspect only because he was under investigation of Ray Pember who was also conveniently killed while on his investigation of one of the people who had acess to police records (Light). L never got the chance to prove Light was Kira.
Near mainly followed through with the theory that the second L is Kira due to the fact that the police detectives themselves admitted Light was under suspicion of being Kira before. As we saw in the end Near was able to solve case through patiently following Mikami and getting a confession. No feelings involved.
I wouldn’t have minded L killing light but near killing him is just stoopid.
well technically, Ryuk killed light, but near exposed him as kira.
Enderlord well technically light didn’t kill L in that case

Exactly
He didn’t cheat, Light got cocky and reckless at the end trusting and hiding truth from his follower who had the real book. Light should have told him he had some paper in case anything were to go wrong
Round nah it was all mikami fault he shouldn't have touch the death note unless light told him. He was great and should've just followed directions 😥😥 don't mind me still emotionally was looking forward to the new world
Nah it's just a shit ending that doesn't fit it belongs at the end of a ocean esk movie
I wouldn't say it's a shit ending, light winning and creating a new world is much darker than what we actually imagine, the outside world seemed to be chugging along nicely with light becoming the judge and jury, but really they were all living in fear and we want to live in freedom. But I was rooting for Light to beat near at the end I won't lie. But the best ending they could have with L dying, showing that only with Mello could Near beat Light, because they knew Near wasn't as smart as light or anywhere near L's level.
@@valdencampbell1262 my issue is not necessarily with light dying (though light deserved a victory) it is with how they did it with a sudden 5 year old genius popping up out of nowhere and the stupid twists and fucking fake outs
@@rufuscord7160 but it wasn't only near that beat light, if Mello wouldn't have kidnapped kiyomi near wouldn't have known about the fake death note
There was a way for Light to win, even if Near cheated.
Here's how:
Light: Why didn't you write my name?
Mikami: You are God!
Light: Why do you believe that?
Mikami: I have the Shinigami Eyes, and I can not see your Death Clock
Light: And...?
Mikami: Only notebook owners have hidden Clocks.
Light: As leader of the Task Force I technically own the notebook held by the Task Force.
Near: ...
Light: That is the only Deathnote I own.
Light: You being here means Kira must be one of us. As no-one else's name is missing, the culprit must have given up ownership. Since Near was the one to set this all up, he is the only one here with a reason to give away ownership before this meeting. Near is Kira.
Near: And what about you saying Looks like I win, Near?
Light: Winning would, to me be proving my innocence beyond a reasonable doubt.
Near: ....
You are a fucking genius
and where is nears notebook or shinigamI?
he gave the Ownership up in this situation with would mean that his Shinigami is no longer near him. it would not realy ad up at the end. because the way he says "looks like i win, Near" doesnt sound like someone that prove his innocence
Michael Rate Yeah but they made Light look so stupid in that scene.
But the ownership thing was only known of Light and Misa, wasn't it? I thought it wasn't included in the notebook's rules.
The issue for Near for me was two-fold.
1) He seemed to latch onto Light being Kira way too fast.
2) He picked Mikami as the Third Kira out seemingly at random.
It makes him feel like a Discount L.
Read the manga and these issues get resolved. The manga is MUCH more fleshed out for the Near/Mello arc.
He was watching countless amounts of tapes when he started to pick out Mikami as a suspect. It had to be someone close to Takada.

If this is what you think, then I'm afraid you missed the entire point of Mello's character. Near said he almost fell for Light's plan, but he knew the notebook needed to be tested. Mello agreed to kidnap Kiyomi Takada to put Light in a situation where the real death note would need to be used. Mello did this knowing it would get him killed and allowed Near to discover the fake death note. They worked together to beat Light without cheating.
I have to agree it was explained how everything came to pass yet people still think other wise from what we know of L and Near we can assume neither would use the death note to win due to their pride that's pretty much made clear as they both don't like to lose and treat everything like a game/ puzzle.
top comment
thats cheating thi
I almost forgot that point, i search in why the ending of Death Note is not cool, i want Light to win but he lost to a kid what a lame. Then you're comment enlightened me that M and N work together to bet Kira and they could suprass L because they work together. And still Light is so wack at the end not cool to watch him act like a brainless character in the end of the series. Because if he lost i expect him to be defeated or be killed in a cool way,
@@Ensaymadaah Light became more cunning after L s death and he was more aggressive and had to take care of 3 people and their action and he wasn't even having the note in most of the situation. And when N came he from stating caught light was kira. Light became more obsessed of bieng god
IMO Near didn't deserve to beat light. I would have been far more accepting of L beating light.
TheQuickyouknow near said in the anime that it was thanks to Mello's and L's huge contributions that he was able to beat light
Couldn't agree more. Near's victory felt so half-assed
Masquerade not even quarter assed just fragment assed lol
//smiles//
He actually said that it was thanks to mello and HIS contributions that made him surpass L to beat light. The idea is that Mello did something rash (much like his style) which threw mikami off and made him go to the bank a 2nd day in a row where the real notebook was hidden. Without Mello doing that, Light would have won.
The more Light was acting on his very own the better he preformed.
Yea most of the time
Yeah but misa popped up
Same with L
That’s cap, at the very beginning he got played so hard by L and just a handful of episodes later Light was already the #1 suspect in the Kira case out of a human population of over 6,000,000,000 people. To be narrowed down that much so quickly is pretty embarrassing and he was only able to survive until episode 25 cuz he could use the Death Note which was a HUGE advantage. He also had Misa which gave him the shinigami eyes to help him kill more criminal and the two shinigami who have him tips and even killed L for him.
@@drippydrub3066 Light was stupid in the beginning of the show, and he should have never tried to mess with the police. If he hadn’t, maybe he would not have been suspected and he can continue killing criminals like he wanted. The reason why Kira is now so commonly known is because light wants everyone to fear “Kira” and be seen as a god. He did get played very hard by L and L already knew that light was Kira in the beginning. I feel like Light Yagami’s father was in the way for L to get his evidence. In my opinion, I love both Light and L and think one of them should have won. What made Light so smart than the others though is he used people and thought outside the box. For me, the best part of the show was when Light Yagami was able to release Misa and himself behind bars and make L confused but still happens to get the death note back in the end. Light is smart but if he wanted to go against the police that badly, then he should thought beforehand instead of thinking they will never suspect him, like killing Ray Penber. Light should not have killed Ray Penber. First, Ray Penber was going to leave very soon and then Ray Penber was going to tell L he was not suspected as Kira (I think). Second, it helped L by deducing it must be Light yagami since Ray Penber was investigating Light.
Light is smart in his own way, showing that he tricked people and used them so he can achieve his goals. Though it is true, L is way smarter than Light. I just think that maybe if Light wasn’t so caught on about that being god, then maybe he would have survived longer.
In conclusion, Light is smart just not as smart as L.
I feel, the first half of deathnote is based around introducing you to these outstanding intuitive thinkers, whilst the second half, requires that we are one.
I honestly believe that the ending was forced and illogical the way it was published. I feel the writers wrote themselves into a corner, A La Franklin Richards in the Marvel comics. They had no real way to beat Light after they killed L, so the entire Near thing was a convoluted mess.
“Mello knew that alone we weren’t able to attain our goal to surpass L but together we can!”
L lost because he was alone in his quest for justice.
That's what the ending implies.
Charles Cook Yes treu but in all honesty this anime makes me think what i would do and i realised light fucked up waaay too much
Charles Cook truth!
the GBO gamer interesting. From my analysis, the biggest mistakes light made, was loosing understanding of who he was as an introvert (bad mix) and picking someone who could act as him, too well. If light had someone slightly worse, he would have 'defeated' near.
Only reason Near won was because mikami accidentally led Giovanni to the real notebook.
Light would've won if it wasn't for mikami acting on his own.
Mintygreen Roxas Light told Mikami not to make any unnecessary actions. Killing Takeda was necessary and since Mikami thought that Light couldn't move freely he had no choice but to do it.
If Light had been truly smart, he would have told Mikami to have a piece of the DN on him at all times. But even geniuses like him make some mistakes.
Light would've lost without Mikami far before he lost in the anime anyway.
That's my issue with the show post-L. I didn't care for Near and how Light got defeated was kinda lame.
Oozywolf I disagree. How Light was defeated was ingenious indeed.
Light should have told Mikami to have sheets of paper on his person in case of emergency, or told Mikami that he could act in extreme cases if needed, stressing that Mikami shouldn’t do anything in odd circumstances. Light failed to communicate with his subordinate and that’s on him. He lost of his own failures.
Except there's a HUGE flaw in this theory, the notebook was replaced long before you said. Secondly, Light DID in fact predict Near's plan, and had it not been for Mikami killing Takada, Light would have won. If he would have listened to Light and made no moves, Light would have won, but this obviously didn't happen, so no Near didn't cheat, and he didn't outsmart Light, in fact, he's not as smart as Light or L he just capitalized on a slip up. Perhaps you should rewatch the last half, and anyone else who thinks this theory is probable.
Crighton De La Rosa when we see mikamis perspective of everyone in the warehouse he can still see nears lifespan but he couldn't see lights
Crighton De La Rosa I agree with everything you said except that Near is just as smart as L, if not technically smarter. I believe Light is smarter than both of them, but Near basically took a look at a mostly scrapped investigation trail, where Light was the "dead end" of the Kira case, and he deduced that L wasn't fixated on Light for nothing
One can write in the death note without owning it, like Raye Penber. IIRC if someone steals a death note it doesn't actually change owners for well over a year. IMO Near using the Death Note on Mikimi is almost a sure thing, there is no way that someone as meticulous a Mikimi would not have spotted a fake.
Crighton De La Rosa thank you. Everyone saying Light was sloppy obviously forget that Mikami was the one who fucked up. Light's plan was perfect.
Nah, he left plenty of variables in the plan. He should have given Mikami a spare page and had him write the names in those.
Being in Nears position is like having your character all upgraded full stats and playing the game on easy

What will police do if someone stop them from doing their work they will prosecute him right!!
Also the main work of the police is to punish criminals
Sacrifice loved ones for duty
So dat the society can be peaceful
Having said that
Didn't light did the same thing
And provided better results
Crime rate went down by 70%
Nd there was world peace
Light was in no way a psychopath
He was indeed god
Killing light was worst decision made by show creators
A better ending wud hav been light winning and voluntarily going to shinigami world nd save it from rotting nd rather perfect it!
Then it wud have solved the problem
As all the shinigami wud hav worked nd criminals wud hav been punished by them only
Not a human
Impulsive Normal No, typically the police arrest criminals and put them on trial for a fair punishment. Kira was just giving everyone the death sentence regardless. In executing hundreds of thousands of people, even if they were criminals, would be destroying the lives of all of their perfectly innocent families and friends who love them and would at worst turn them into criminals too because they want revenge. Remember that criminal L hired and Light just murdered him right in front of his son? That kid’s gonna be traumatised and heartbroken and that goes for a hundred thousand others. Secondly, the crime rate did go down but it was still there, people just didn’t know it. M was running a huge crime organisation in LA and he and his subordinates were all getting away with it simply because M was clever enough to keep evade Kira and he most certainly would not be the only one. And my final and biggest reason for why I think Light was evil: Light was evil. From the very first episode it’s clear that he sees himself as superior to everyone else as he stated that he will become the God of the new world, he also didn’t care about what was a far punishment since he considered killing someone just being a bully at the beginning and was going to kill people just for being lazy at the end. If he continued he would only get harsher and harsher and everyone would regret ever wanting him. Light couldn’t handle criticism either. He wasn’t even going to kill Lind Taylor until he said that he was evil. Light didn’t even have to kill the FBI agents as Penber said he thought he was cleared, it was just Light’s fat ego getting in the way. He killed several innocent people simply for disagreeing with him or making him look bad and by thinking he was right to do so would be the same as supporting Hitler. Light’s goal of creating a perfect world is completely impossible. There will always be crime. Wether you think he had the right idea or not is up to you but to say that he was actually a good guy is completely wrong. He proved himself to be egotistical and hypocritical from the very beginning and he got what he deserved.
Misa killed herself because light died
nope, she lost her memories of him. Her life ran its natural course
where does it show her about to jump off
she killed herself as a completely normal woman, you can see in episode 25 I think it was where Misa did that song, she was on her way to the rooftop to kill herself, but you didn't know that till episode 37.
Üzeyir Kırbaş but she killed her shinigami twice which expands her life
Üzeyir Kırbaş oh so when rem died she belonged to light?
4:45 Near smiled in an Episode when he tells Light "so you do have a shinigami there with you, how interesting"
I am/was team Light but if he “needed” to be discovered by someone it should have definitely been “L”.
Id've loved to see it be Soichiro (I may be butchering the spelling) realize that his son was Kira and finally bring him down. I really wanted to see that confrontation between a broken man and the son he only thought he knew. But alas, they HAD to kill him before he could learn the truth.
L knew. It was sad that the episode of his death he literally said we'll be parting ways soon. Then to dry off lights feet was somewhat biblical as if saying that "I L can be the only one to liberate you from this godlike complex" but I'll be dead soon. That's why he said out loud he wanted Light to take over and be the second L. So it was easy for Near and Mello to find him and so Light couldnt escape his way out of the investigation. L layed the groundwork. And near gave credit to L and Mello for the great assist! People hated Near but hey man he legit said this was a team effort. Near simply cared about winning not getting all of the credit.

Tsugumi Ohba indirectly answers the question of: "Is Matsuda’s theory correct?" in volume 13 HTR :
Question: "Who is the smartest character in DN?"
Obata: "Near, because he cheats."
We can't be 100% certain, however I do believe that Matsuda's theory is correct. Now here is something interesing: if his theory is correct, the ownership passed to Near, who in the one shot special still had memories of the DN. In other words, Near never burned them.
Roa Ciel Wtf ,no he doesn't
Bro L was so cool he was a real investigator. Near was like see someone on this tv and say : Yes this is Kira partener. Instead L could search for evidence
EXACTLY
I feel like the only person who actually likes Near. I know L is a fucking legend and therefor irreplaceable but Near is kind of interesting himself.
Near is interesting, but unfortunately he was introduced so late into the series that there wasn't enough room for character development. If he had been around a bit longer, we could have gotten a very strong character that may have had the potential to carry the series in place of L.
+_Kitty _ agreed
Bruh he's 2nd to L and tied with mello
Near may be an interesting character, but I started to hate him after he "found out" who 2nd Kira is. No, seriously, what the hell was that? "Mikami loves Kira... HE MUST BE THE 2ND KIRA!".
near just felt like a replacement and it just a cop out to try and copy L yea Near is special but it would be cool if he was a normal kid and after seeing that death at the confrontation would traumatize him
Lacking large emotions doesn't mean you'll go around breaking laws. Also, N mentioned that some methods would be despised by L, and N obviously wanted to live up to L's standards and play by L's rules.
N also understands he won't be going to hell nor heaven. Something he does not want to risk just to catch Kira
They mentioned this in the extra chapter of the all in one edition I personally think near cheated i don’t think light or mikami are stupid enough to mess up
Light, Kira rather is not stupid indeed, but he has a God complex and he is desperately thirsty for winning against his opponents. Think of it as if it is a card guessing game. Kira knows that Near holds 2 cards on his hand, one of them is white and the other is black. The black one is Near tampering with the fake notebook and the white one is Mikami making a mistake. Light knows almost perfectly his odds. He had Mikami noticed that the fake notebook had been altered and that's why he planned having the real one hidden. At the same time, he is well aware of Mikami's committment and that he will follow his orders of taking no action unless he says so. No matter what card Near pulls out, Light/Kira is sure that he has taken the right precautions and is ready to celebrate his victory against a card that will have no effect. So what will Near do? Black or white? He needs to play. Near will show his card under the same premise as L's, that Light is Kira. The answer is simple. While his opponent expects him to show a black or white card to win the game, he throws emotionlessly a g-r-e-y card. Near notices how conveniently Takada dies and thanks to Mello, he can deduce that there is a fake notebook. Simultaneously, the appointment's date is at 28, letting the possibility to Takami to break his ''ritual'' routine and move before the 28th so he cannot arise any suspicion. They card is not only noticing Takami's mistake, but also his inability to deduce and analyze his odds as perfectly as Light. Nobody expected Near to change the real notebook as well. That's what the grey card is all about. Near didn't cheat because he didn't need to. Even though Takami saw his ''God'' losing his mind, he is still a mere pawn, whose life has been controlled by Kira.Takami loses his faith to be a part of the new world, but he consciously thinks that by suiciding he can help Kira escape. If Near had killed Takami, the number of criminals in the room wouldn't have changed. Something like that would be against all of the people sacrificed before Near's victory, notably L. Yagami Light, Kira has lost. You can't create a new world by making humanity a hostage to your plans. L, Near, Mello and the teams against Kira stood against that. And they won, ALMOST impeccably.
george megas How did Near get Mikami's notebook at the bank?
Not going to hell or heaven is what happens to everyone from the anime's perspective. :D
If only Ryuk had the heart of Rem...
He'd be gay for light
Amrin Eusha I never really liked Rem
Light would say something like "I love Emilia"
(i know you are talking abour Misa's shinigami -w- )
Marcelo Maldonado obviously...
God no, I loved Ryuk because he just doesn't give a crap about Light, and seeing as a God of death is above human conflict (and enjoys chaos), his indifference fits perfectly. He dropped the death note to create chaos in the human world, then sit back and watch with some popcorn (or, apples). While Light's battles were probably more interesting than he could've expected, it makes no difference to him if Light loses or dies, Ryuk could just move onto something else.
Light's plan was so well-thought out and had little to no way to falter that the writer himself had to break logic and reasonability in order for Light to lose.
Shame.
um no Mikami made a mistake Light couldnt account for.

Near didn't really cheat (and I side with Light here). Near only won because Mikami was an idiot. If Light had control over all his pawn he would have never made the mistakes that allowed Near to win.
Dont forget about Mello's part in all this, he was the one who forced Mikami to this mistake, and "if Light had control over all his pawns" EVERYTHING would have played out very differently and, imo Near and Melo would still win just coz they're cool af

Light Would've Been Caught Way Before If It Wasn't For Rem Killing L
Misa dies a year later (after the end of the series) by committing suicide. She does this because Light is dead.
of course she would. she legit said "a world without light would not be worth living."
and then L made a pun. "yes a world without light would be quite dark"
I'm surprised she lasted a year tbh
***** She lasted a year because she still had a contract with her producer. Remember, she was a model
I feel bad for her
Yea like she would give a fuck about a contract when she already decided to commit suicide
Light already had won for long enough in that after L's death he literally had 4 years where he continued the Kira acts without interruptions. That is a LONG time, long enough to change the world forever (wars? ended, criminality? 70% ended).
I think the authors just decided to picture the end of the story as Light finally "paying the bill" for his huge and unhuman sacrifice.
BUT, if we really want to set the cards as if Light should've won against Near too, well:
he should've just USE THE DEATH NOTE ON MIKAMI IN THE FIRST PLACE so that even if Near found the death note and attempted to manipulate Mikami it wouldn't make any effect 'cause you can't "overwrite" if the name has already been written on another note.
AND/OR
Light should've been preparing a backup-backup plan for that situation, that is just hiding a couple of pages of true death note in secret places near the area so that mikami used them just before the events of that day.
So, to sum up, even Light himself knew that ultimately his death is just him getting punished for his genocidal actions (more than 120k targeted murders in 4 years!), on the long run he won, 'cause at that time he already mangled most of the evil lurking on earth, and that is something we have confirmation of in the 2020 one-shot with Minoru explaining all this.
Death Note is a legendary story and I hope to see a new anime somewhere in the future.
or ray penber not being an idiot showing his ID,or his fiancee naomi shouldnt be dumb enough to say her real name to a "highschool detective",instead of his "Father",or many other thing that SHOULD MAKE LIGHT/KIRA GOT ARRESTED before until you realised that Light should be lose from the start,no,he already lose to L from the fact that he killed Lind L taylor on live tv broadcast, but a BLIND LIGHT/KIRA FANBOY dont realise that right?
I wish L was still alive. I really hate Near.
#LIsBestSpiritAnimal
Not what I meant but whatever floats your boat. At least L could have come back to life.
It was meant to be more of a joke. XD
ok. Still, that doesn't change the fact that L is my favourite character.
He's mine as well as far as Death Note is concerned. =D
The show should have ended when Light defeated L. The whole Near and Mello story arc just felt dragged out and pointless. And the whole time it seemed like Light wasn't Light and therefore he lost. If he was the same Light he was during the L story arc there is no doubt he would have won. Another thing I have to say and that most people agree with is that Near wasn't even close to the intelligence level as L was yet he was able to defeat Light even when Light had the full power of the task force. Just shitty plot lining to me after like episode 24-25
I agree dude. =D
I kinda liked Mello. But ya near was awful. If it was just Mello that likely would have been a better story.
i disagree, i liked the manga even after L's death, near and mello were still nowhere near L but they say so themselves, LIght does get a little bit cocky, but as a matter of fact he's still the same genius, he didn't even lose for a mistake of his, mello's actions had mikami write takada's name, it's in fact mikami who made a mistake, and mello knew so, the concept is: mello and near together reached L and were able to catch kira, and what's beautiful is that if mikami had done EXACTLY what light told him to do, he would have won against Near, Mello and L
Luigi Scrivo but maybe in that sense Light did make a mistake. Maybe Light's mistake was choosing Mikami to rely on. Throughout the whole show Light uses other people to get where he wants but he always has control of the situation and if the people he is using fails then he has a backup plan and cam take matters into his own hands. Yet at the most important moment in the show he relies solely on someone else to protect him. I think that was Light's mistake and slip-up that ALLOWED Near to win. Otherwise if Light had a backup plan as normal Near and everyone else would have been dead.
Tristen Sharba that is also true my friend
Allow me to put some holds in your theory, First of all Ryuk is the one who killed Light. stating it would take too long for Light to die if he went to prison. That alone would dispute Nair using the notebook.
Second, The only reason Light lost is because Mikami made an unnecessary move and not because of light's lack of planning. In truth Light actually out smarted Nair, however because of Teru Mikami's screw up, he lost. And Third Nair would not have used the notebook as he saw this a criminal act, he may appear to have no emotion but he is very similar to L. If he used the notebook he will become the same thing he is trying to put behind bars or even kill.
Dairionstone It's Near*, not Nair.
It is possible for 2 entities to write the same name, so the theory isnt exactly disputed.Remember that Takada died when both Light and Mikami wrote her on their death note?
Light had made many mistakes since eps 2, so arguably there's no 'only' reason.
Light's planning is also about predicting other's behaviours, so in a sense it was also his mistake for not foreseeing the initiative from Mikami, ESPECIALLY when Light chose him because of the way Mikami can initiate things by himself to help Kira. Also it is very doubtful when it comes to Near's view of morale and justice, since he never talks about it.He just said that SPK will not just kill Kira and X Kira because that's not how he and L do things. In a way it can be perceived as a detective's aesthetic. He wanted to catch Kira with absolute proof.
I don't agree with your second point. yes, lights plan would have worked out, but his crucial mistake was trusting mikami so easily in the first place. He saw that he was completely dedicated to serving kira and he saw that he had an almost religiously kept daily routine, but what he failed to do was evaluating him on a psychological level. He should have noticed that mikami is highly unstable and should therefore not have trusted in him functioning the way light wants him to for literally the most crucial part of his plan.
TheMike0088 While Mikami was emotionally unstable, he was very good at disgusing that fact. Light chose to work with Mikami because he knew that Mikami would do anything Light said very efficantly.
+Diedkid 145 and that was his mistake. During the time of L light would have never trusted another person than himself with putting parts of his plan into motion. and if you're gonna bring up misa: that was a necessity. she knew about him, she had shinigami eyes and he knew that he had to include her into his plans since, under any other circumstances, misa probably would have done something unpredictable considering her (this time rather obvious) unstable mental state.
What sucks the most is because Light would’ve won, but after *SPOILERS* L’s death he became overconfident and this made him overlook some things,,, so technically Light is still smarter than Near- except since he made a mistake, Near was able to pin evidence on him
One of the biggest things pointing to this theory is that lights double committed suicide. If he didn't, the theory of Near using the notebook wouldn't be as valid. Near obviously anticipated that Light had a page of the deathnote on his person as an absolute backup. If lights double didn't die, light could just ask him the names of the people in front of him. This is a checkmate on Near. His death was a must for Near.
That being said... I most certainly agree with Light that Near is inferior to L in essentially every way... Light himself needed to cheat to kill L.
Not really. They would have already handcuffed him and confiscated any form of death note from him before he could try to write their names. Mikami will most likely be treated the same way. You people are just overthinking this.
If they simply did that. then lights double could simply call out names.
It's a game of chess... the series has been put forward as such from the get go. If I had found the deathnote and had time to COMPLETELY replace every single page. This did happen. They also know from the past that a kira can kill with just a face. Linking this to the book, It would be a huge oversight to simply let this particular person be able to speak. Even if by chance. Especially if light had an extra page (or there were other traitors in the room).
Then lets not forget the contrast in the end. Where Light merely gave up the book in the past and 'lost' his memories as kira (without drawback from the Shinigami) and the end where the Shinigami is obligated to take lights life after his defeat... A very much crushing defeat.
Overthinking it... If you were in nears scenario... You'd be extremely stupid not to... Especially if you overthought it enough to chat every page in the book with a complete and exact replica... and with that, even proved that these pages weren't duds, granted power by the deathnote having had pages placed in them.
Finally. Nears plan was so thought out that he would simply check the book afterwards and see which names weren't there... to find Kira. At that stage. Lights name was probably written as he ran off. (If time was given, light could make the deal to get eyes and still come back with a roundhouse victory)
Personally I disagree with the entire premise that Near was able to come into possession of the Death Note. If Mikami was really so careful and so stuck to his routine, he would have more likely taken more careful measures, or always kept a page of the real death note in his shoe or something. I just don't see someone who obsesses on the this sort of level about precision making this sort of mistake. Nothing about the second season adds up, and I'm surprised Light wouldn't have had ordered it done that way in the first place. Again its like his IQ lost 60 points so that he could screw up for season 2.
I think the reason he broke his routine and reveal the true notebooks because mello had kidnapped that reporter chick and he wanted to kill off before she could reveal any information. or some stupid reason like that can't really remember
well if he real did have a page of the death note hidden somewhere but when N wrote his death in the DN he "forced" him not to use it
It was an odd thing and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth despite how much I understand what happened and how it connects to everything else that happened.
What happened was that in the second season, Light had employed two "Second-Kira"'s: Mikami and a news reporter that I think was named Takada. The plan between them was that Mikami would write the names in bulk in a fake notebook while being watched, and write them in the real one (secured in a safety deposit box or something) later. Mellow kidnapped Takada, who then set about killing Mellow...and then Mikami acted out of routine to kill Takada before she could be tortured into giving away their secrets.
If this never happened, then Near would have never been able to get his hands on the real Death Note in order to set up the "master plan". But, it shouldn't have happened not only because Mikami should have had an "emergency sheet" available...but also because Light already had written Takada's name on his own emergency sheet!
In light of this, most of the "lost IQ points" were on behalf of Mikami. His plans didn't account for an emergency or have a contingency situation set in the event of a problematic event like a kidnapping, while Light literally always had a contingency plan or emergency escape in place right until the end (where he is justified to have only had a small sliver of paper in his watch). Lesson: A mindless servant isn't all it's made out to be.
Light became too cocky after beating L and killing everyone else in his way, I do agree in season 2 it felt as if he was purposely made to seem dumber.. I just see it as Light himself got dumber because all people would get like him after winning time and time again.
FlameSp33y AMV I hate season 2. Its the biggest storytelling letdown since Starcraft II.

Doesn’t that qualify Light’s method of defeating L as ‘cheating’, then? He used Rem and there was no way L could have predicted/prevented that
He probably thought about that possibility, because he personally thought light was kira; but after what he experienced with everyone and light to say that light is innocent, he just scratched that theory and moved on with another
IT OBVIOUSLY WAS CHEATING! He never defeated L, he got lucky that Rem saved him
To be able to use a shinigami AND kill said shinigami to get rid of his competition was smart, it took balls to put that plan into action, because of how risky it was. It was a fair win in my book. When faced with the risks vs victory, I think it paid greatly

WhiteBoyDom Yeah :( I sobbed
WhiteBoyDom it was foreshadowed throughout the series that his death would be shameful anyways
Let's make this clear. You cannot simply claim that Near cheated, as he has a very talented agent in his investigation group who can tamper with a notebook.
However, remember that Light instructed Mikami to create a fake notebook exactly like the original one. SPK believed that the Death Note was in the possession of Mikami without knowing that Kiyomi was the one carrying out the executions. Near used this information to tamper with the fake notebook. This resulted in the existence of two fake notebooks, one created by SPK and the other by Mikami.
Later on, SPK identified the possibility of a fake notebook and found the original notebook with the help of Mello. So, when Near instructed Gevani to tamper with the original notebook using a fake one, there was no need to create another fake notebook. Instead, they could use the two existing fake notebooks and add a few names. This is the reason tampering of the notebook was possible in just one night.
N didn't cheat it's just light had horrible pawns

They also made Light an idiot just to kill him and got Near to pull crap out of his ass like looking at 50 screens then picking out one person from the crowd.
If this was the case, Mikami wouldn't be able to see Near's lifespan in episode 36.
S Yup. Also if Mikami doesn't have ownership of the death note, how does he have shinigami eyes?
I think you need to have ownership of the deathnote to have your name covered. Mellos thugs had touched the note, did not have ownership, and we're still able to be targeted by second Kira
makes sense
PaperBro64 The only way your lifespan would be gone from view is if you had USED the deathnote. Simply owning it allows you to see the Shinigami.
Gunner Massengale All you have to do is touch the notebook to see the shinigami, as stated by Ryuk.
:/ You didn't take a very good look at Nears character. He's shown to have emotions all through-out the series, he just hides them for unknown reasons. He also makes it clear he won't be using the deathnote, he tells Commander rester that he wanted to win honorably without the deathnote. He has pride just like you said, enough pride to not use the deathnote. Also, please take a moment to think of Misa and Mikami's characters as well please. They were both highly emotionally dependent and mentally unstable people.
If you watched the episode in which Mikami's character and story was explained, you'd see that Light Yagami is his god and in the last episode he blames himself for Light being on the verge of death... Light even screamed "How could you Mikami" when it's revealed that Mikami killed Takada at the same time as Light, he yelled it right into Mikami's face. Mikami blames himself entirely for what happened, months upon months of hard work to try and remove the root of all evil only to end wrongly all because of him, the timing was perfect. You can actually see his heart break.
And Misa? Her whole family was murdered, the murder killed by her savior Kira. Kira makes up a huge part of her life. When she was with Light she finally began to get a sense of family back (shown very clearly when she visits the yagami's house and has tea with the whole family + matsuda) only to have it taken away from her, at the same exact time the man who avenged her family was killed... of course she killed herself. The kira case took everything away from her.
Last but not least, Ryuk said it in the very beginning, it was already foreshadowed, "All those who use the deathnote are said to meet a bitter end" or something among the lines of that. Right in the very first episode when light asks what the catch is for using the death note. And... who dies? Everyone who used the deathnote! Mikami, Light, Takada, Mello, L, everyone who used it died. But who doesn't die? Near, because he was too righteous, he wouldn't cheat.
EDIT: I realized I messed up saying L used the deathnote, he actually didn't. But, L did seriously consider it. All people who came in contact with the deathnote and truly thought they'd use it died.
Why does everyone want to make Near look like a murderer?
yea the theory doesn't really add up much, and just a little corrections, L never used the death note. He was planning on using it to remove the 13 day rule, but never got the chance.
Near is INTJ
Holly Lawliet holy mother of fluff nut this is cool 👍
The only thing that you misunderstood is that Near is not righteous, he just wanted to catch Kira to "solve the puzzle" as stated in his first appearance
I was agreeing with everything you said. But when you put L on the list of people that died because the used the deathnote, my heart literally sank lol. L did not use the deathnote. And I would say, L died content. He died content because he lived his entire life alone, only with his guardian. When he met Light, that may have been the crappiest thing to happen to him; yet equally, it was a blessing for him and a curse for Light. Because L genuinely enjoyed Light's company in spite of his tireless efforts to figure out that Light is Kira. L may have died, but he died for the first time in his life, surrounded by people he loved. And I pray that sentiment for many others.
Near isn't righteous. He's just the winner. I think Near himself would agree with that. "One realizes their true nature at the moment of death." -Itachi Uchiha. So with that quote, I say Near won, but we will never know how horrible or righteous he will be at the end of his life. (No Near hate, I just really don't believe this anime wanted to present ANY character as righteous)
Near: *You did that so i did this*
Light: *You did that so i did this* "I win"
Near: *i know you would do that so i already did this*
Light: "Fuck"
Near: "i win"
yeah thats what happened, theres nothing wrong with that, why? well kira/Light is so PREDICTABLE,light and L are both so full of their ego and think they are perfect, but they dont, near on the other hand, knew that he isnt perfect,he can make mistake, better "play it safe" and focus on the goal,oh look,he won.
I just wish Light would have just stopped when he killed L
I know, but I'm still mad about L dying as well.
+DuoReview true. the ending was crap but at least the rest was good.
You don't like a shinigami kira?
I wish that he didn't kill L.
I wish the anime ended when he killed L, I didnt like that Light lost
Even though I feel like Light is supposed to be the villain, I really wish he won. I mean, Near just gets handed all the answers by building towers and playing with LEGO figures!
lol yall making it sound like near did nothing to defeat light
George Skye the problem is the plot armor, he found one duplicate word and found out there was a fake notebook, he found the fake notebook, he got lucky with x Kira, and he copied the whole notebook to the point where a microscope couldn’t tell the difference
@@dylanisaac1017 if i am not wrong mikami didn't check the note book with the microscope after killing takada because it would have been a really sudden move in short words to kill takada was necessary but to check the note book in mikami's mind wasn't also if he did check the note book the spy that near had on mikmai could notice that.
Mikami could get a telescope like misa did and write their names and if they don't die rip off the page in which he wrote the names then he could write the names again with the exception of near's name or matsuda's name.
Probably mikami wasn't careful enough.
I just wish Light being defeated had at least been written better. The... dance between Light and Ryuzaki was always so clever and interesting, and the one with Near and Light just wasn’t. I would have liked it too if Near and Mellow had been given some sort of plan by Ryuzaki when he realized he was going to die, because he knew what was happening ok. The moment he went up to that roof, he knew what was going to happen, so I wish he’d made some sort of sketch of a plan to send them before he died, so when Light is defeated, it is still partly thanks to Ryuzaki, giving him a victory
And he won because the guy who yells delete acted on his own
Near is very likely autistic. He does feel emotions, he just has trouble displaying it.
Aspergers is a form of autism.
Zarozapa CnJ autism is a spectrum of syndromes and such
aspergers is a form of autism. there are many posts online with evidence of near being autistic (i.e. stimming, etc). i don't mean it in a dick way, it's just interesting to note.
I'm asperger and I guess you're right.
That's pretty, interesting. didn't think of that
L: give reasons on why light is Kira
Near: “pssh ion know dis guy sus”
Honestly, I just don't think Near was smart enough to think of this. Yes, he's very intelligent, but he's not even as smart as L. Light got out of control and went kind of insane towards the end to the point where he basically foiled his own plot, but Light at around the time before L died would have outsmarted Near quite easily. I think it's simply that Light started slipping up towards the end that Near won, and Near didn't even consider the possibility of using the death note in that way. I suppose there's also the argument of if he had used the death note, that'd make him yet another Kira, which would mean the case never closed.
For someone who dislikes the L's successor sequel...
Near is typical person who likes to give a go and relying on his instinct thus so much gambling on his perception, blunt dumbass without any hesitation to accuse someone even with a lack of evidence and just feel sorry if He got a mistake. He has some characteristic similar to Kira (not L) that's why He just follow his intuition as if He knows everything about Kira "if I am Kira, I will..."
That's why He can predict for the 2nd Kira as fast as Kira choose Mikami to do punishment!
What makes everyone believe L is this some grand genius that can't be beaten in terms of intellect? (He lost to Kira) and don't give me bullshit like Death God and blah blah blah! There are NO Rules. There are NO morals. Just two people trying to kill (capture) one another. One lost. The weaker one lost. The end.
Near won. Simple as that. He did what L nor Mello could do and he won.
But it’s stated in Death Note 13: How to Read Near is smarter than L... Nears intelligence is ranked as 9/10 while L’s is 8/10. This is cannon and stated in the character profiles.
Near is canonically smarter than L.
L made breadcrumbs following up to Light being Kira, Near and Mellow just followed them.
to be honest I almost stopped watching anime when L die
i stopped
Anijah Connor I stopped and 1 month later I continued watching it and finished it

Anijah Connor SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually cried for L😭😭😭
I stopped...I tried to watch the next episode but I hated it...so I decided to just look up the ending...is it worth going back to finishing it?
When I first watched the series I thought that Ryuk was gonna do some selfless act and save light in the end and sacrifice himself.
But he didn’t give a shit
Nah.. Your theory isn't quite accurate. The SPK members never decided to physically touch the book Mikami had until the 31st of December. This is stated. By that point the Notebook had already been exchanged with the fake and Takada was using torn pages to carry out the killings. That said the only point when Near had an opportunity to use a genuine notebook is when Mikami took independent action due to Mello and reveled the real notebook. Nears original plan before Mello got involved would play out exactly the same up to the beginning of the final episode with the SPK dying Instead. Moreover Near isn't the cheating type. He would consider that an insult to L and contradicts his character.
Geoffrey Fields Near hated L
No.. Near hated Kira.
Actually near did hate L lol He liked Mellow
Michael Well from memory he hated L because he saw him as lesser than himself. L never was willing to break the law (for the most part) to find Kira and Near probably saw that as a kind of weakness. Actually now that I think about it, Near is more like Kira than L was.
L broke the law by having unlawful surveillance on Youtsuba. He used criminals to gain the upper hand on them. L wasn't above setting someone up to die in his place as he did it with Lind L Taylor so that makes L a accessory to murder because L knew that Lind L Taylor was more than likely going to be killed by Kira. L also wanted to let a criminal use the notebook to write a name of someone to kill, so L was committing the same crime Kira was which is murder since L knew that the notebook CAN kill people. L was certainly NOT above the law at all.
I cried when L, Light, and Lights Dad died :( they were all good and interesting characters. l iis eating cake in heaven now...
i couldn’t cry when L and Light died i just felt.. empty kind of ig

To everyone that doesn't know: near and mello are fun in the manga, as they actually get half of the series instead of a third
People just don't like the direction of the story so they get upset...near winning makes sense and the fact is light was walking a luck tight rope since day 1...he was going to slip up eventually
@@razkable i really hate the changes the anime made from the manga, it makes light look way more heroic than he was supposed to be (especially his death scene is fucking stupid in the anime) so people get upset when he is defeated.
in the manga light is depicted like nothing but a meticulous, egomaniacal coward, and the moment he's staring down the gun barrel of a man who's not afraid to pull the trigger on him he looses it and even as he's on the floor bleeding out all he can do is beg for his life, like the bitch ass coward he is.
In the final pages of the manga, this theory is acknowleged. One year after Light's death, one of the detectives who was working with him (I can never remember their names XD) explains this theory to one of his collegues. Apologies for bad spelling and/or grammar.

I don't understand why people hate Near. L was technically the antagonist in the story and the two protagonist is Ryuuk and Light. Don't get me wrong I wanted Light to die since the episode he killed the former dectective lady who tried to avenge her husbands death. Light's death brought a smile to my face.
But I yelled when L died. He was in the rain as if he knew his death was coming I was sad as hell. Got off topic for a sec...So the way I saw it was, Light thought it was over when L died and thought no one can challenge him like L could. Near and Mellow were indeed replacements to L's throne. However they didn't think they were L in anyway. They infact respected and looked up to L. The way Near said "L number 2" to Light showed he had respect for L and mocked Light. Near and Mello were doing it in a whole new way just to take down Kira.
kj walton As well as that, the time gap in between when Light beat L and Mello and Near emerged was enough time for Light to become extremely sloppy, making Near and Mello take him down even easier.
kj walton I hate Near because he is a living Deus ex machina. He has 0 background, 0 motivation, 0 personality. He just had so many bullshit "oh I'll just pull this shit out of my ass to get out of this situation I should never have gotten out of" moments. They should not have tried to make another L it was destined to be disappointing. In the first arc whenever Light encountered an obstacle he would use it to progress, in the second arc they realised that if Light wasn't seriously dumbed down or if Near wasn't "helped" Light would dominate everyone so easily...
Also Light could have used the agreement with Ryuuk but they decided he would NEVER do it because at the beginning he said he needed his entire lifespan to be Kira yet he found a way to have Kira's actions keep going without himself so why not use this advantage ??
kj walton
PS : Yes, L knew he would die because when the Note got retrieved he realised Light won and he lost. I think he didn't want to spoil his last moments with the person who allowed him to feel truly alive during the whole investigation and that's why he spent his remaining time with Light and didn't call him out although it was very obvious he was Kira once again ever since he touched the Note.
That concluded the end of a masterpiece of a first arc. I absolutely loved it (maybe not all of it the first few episodes really annoyed me) and that made the second arc that much more painful, absolutely all of it.
Not a single moment in the second half was anywhere near as well written as the first one. I would rather have had 20 episodes of potato chips memes rather than having to feel so betrayed and hurt buy the awful piece of shit that was the second half.
If you hate Light you should leave, everyone agrees with what Light was doing. I wish we had him in real life, no wars, you can go outside at night without being afraid of being killed just because of what you have, no dumbass politicians pissing off the people they're meant to serve...the world would be beautiful

Remember when naomi went to see L or light's father or even a member of the task force, light happened to be there at that moment and they didnt. Naomi even said "i have very important thing to say about kira's case" out loud. When i think about it thats the luckiest he gets.
Pasif Geek Light was lucky throughout the entire series until the end. His luck ran out cause he got sloppy and arrogant. Imagine if Rem chose not to die to save Misa?

Can someone explain this? How did Near get alot of data about the Kira case? Didn't Watari delete everything before he died? Near got just about the entire history of what the SPK had been doing and L begin suspecious of Light being Kira etc. How did he get this data?
I think Watari sent the data to the Wammy House. After Light had been released, L knew his life was at risk.

JnR Bros no. Watari send the information to Wammys house
Watari never sent anything except for the "l is dead" message I thought
Search4Knowledge
Watari was probably telling Near and Mellow the info they have collected in the event/if L died during the Kira case,so then Near and Mello would be ready...
I was a Light supporter and wanted him to win the battle of wits. Furthermore I also thought the only reason he lost was because of Mikami and it wasn't really him losing. But I later questioned that if Mikami made the mistake, and Light supposedly "specifically selected" Mikami for his belief in Kira's philosophy and his predictable habitual nature,
(of all the humans in the world, as well as the fact that even bringing somebody you barely even know into this situation and your plan relying heavily on them is a risk)
which eventually was the cause of his loss, then Light really lost because of the risk he took. Due to the fact he is portrayed as an intellectual who has incredible deduction skills, he should have deduced this was a possible risk and made plans/precautions for its failure. So this slip up, technically means Near won fair and square annoyingly.
P.S. Never really thought about the potential idea of Near 'cheating' until I watched this video though. It's very interesting and possible.
