Thanks for doing this video Harrison. I’m doing the trek next March, and am just looking into what lenses to take with my Nikon Z7II. I’m considering two of the lighter lenses, but after seeing your video (and seeing the photographs) I’m wondering if I should make things easier and just take a 35mm lens instead. Great images and processing by the way. Loved them.
Yeah I was in the same situation before I left pondering what I would bring. I felt totally comfortable with just the 35mm plus with our high resolution cameras being able to crop in if need be. Maybe take a light 85 1.8 or something similar if you have one in your kit as well just so you aren’t kicking yourself about getting some compression. It’s a hard to know exactly because it depends on how much weight your comfortable with but I’d totally do it with just my 35mm if I was to do it again :)
Your photos are stunning and a great video! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm doing the trek in September and have been procrastinating over my lens choices. I'm taking my Canon 5D mkiv, I'll now be leaving behind my Canon 70-200f2.8 and opting for my 35mm 1.8 and a 24-105mm. I'd love to chat more with you about the photography side of your trek.
Thank you mate 🙏🏻 More than happy for you to shoot me some messages on Instagram - @harrisontong. I know I had a million questions in my brain about lens choice considering weight requirements etc
Incredible video with a more insane Pre-Set of editing your pictures! Did you create the Pre-Set / way of editing on your own or did you buy it? Regards Luca
Thanks mate! We Started on the 8th of Nov and ended on the 19th of Nov. Did get busy in parts, mainly big hills where everyone slows down but after that everyone spreads out as people go different speeds :)
Awesome video, I’ve been waiting to see one that details the photography side of it, even better that it was another Australian doing it! Just wondering if you did it again would you swap the 70-200 for another lens, or stick with the 35mm?
Thanks mate! Yeah I’d probably swap it with my 85 1.8 just purely for weight reasons, could easily get away with just taking a 24-70 or something like that too
@@HarrisonTong yeah I was thinking about the 85mm, I have the a7RIII so at least you have crop mode and enough mega pixels for cropping in post to get you close to that 200mm range. Thanks for your reply mate.
It probably would be fine for just photo, I took 2X 256GB cards but with a A7R4 which has massive file sizes. I think in the end I only used one but I’m not 100% sure. You will know best what kind of shooter you are in terms of under or overshooting
I know, unfortunately I was very new to making videos when I made this. I have learned a lot when it comes to mixing audio since. Thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed
Too bad the weather was not perfect on the way up. You actually missed the very best opportunity for spectacular photos by not going up via Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche high trail on the opposite side of the valley from Tengboche. Just awesome views high across the valley, lots of wildlife and practically no trekkers. Tengboche can be visited on the way down. I do not understand why people hike the same low trail twice when there is a better alternative available.

This is so good Harry!! Just amazing. It felt like you drew us into the experience. I can’t believe the weight of 70-200 made such a difference.
Thanks Ralph! Totally, felt like a world of difference at the altitude !
Thank you so much. I will never make it there, but I do have a photo of Everest on my wall. I can dream. Good luck with the next adventure.
Thank you for capturing so beautifully
I’m really glad I watched this! Great images, I cannot wait to do this myself 👍
Thank you! Well worth the effort of the trek!
Amazing experience!!!

Incredible video with a more insane Pre-Set of editing your pictures! Did you create the Pre-Set / way of editing on your own or did you buy it? Regards Luca
Thank you, I generally edit the photos from scratch and will copy settings across to similar lighting shot to shot
hey mate great video! i’m wondering what exact date you began the EBC trek? looks stunning with almost no crowds of trekkers on the trail.
Thanks mate! We Started on the 8th of Nov and ended on the 19th of Nov. Did get busy in parts, mainly big hills where everyone slows down but after that everyone spreads out as people go different speeds :)
Some incredible images in there!!!
Thank you ☺️
Amazing photography 😍

Nice video, and I love the photos, so vibrant. You may want to tune down the music abit when you are speaking 😅
thanks for sharing! so so beautiful
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed 🙌🏻
Going to basecamp in 2 weeks. Would you recommend a 28-70mm or 20-40mm?
28-70 would be better imo, bit late to this comment hope your trip went well!
Do some sound editing/adjustments, several times in the video I can't her a word you're saying because the music is too loud.
That's why I had to stop watching to be honest. Liked the footage but the sound/music was way too loud...
hi, am planing to go the coming week, and would like to know if an 128MB SD card is enough, i have FUJI XT3, or should i buy another?
It probably would be fine for just photo, I took 2X 256GB cards but with a A7R4 which has massive file sizes. I think in the end I only used one but I’m not 100% sure. You will know best what kind of shooter you are in terms of under or overshooting
Oh I miss read this as 128GB, if you actually meant 128MB yeah you need a new card
thx already purchased another 128GB hope they will be enough

If you could have only brought one lens, would you rather have had a 24-70 or 16-35?
24-70 100%
Great video!! Thanks for sharing! Pls check your music volume, as it sometimes covering your voice.

I just followed the way our guide went 🤷♂️
It’s definitely Nepal, …. Not Nepoul!
