I replace my old Vivoactive with the first Venu about 6 months ago. At the time I was considering the Forerunner 245. I opted for the Venu because of the screen. The Venu has been a good watch but I found that a pretty screen wasn’t important to me. Taking advantage of all of it features I find the battery doesn’t last as long as my old Vivoactive and the screen can be harder to see in sunlight. This winter I also had trouble with the buttons when running in sub freezing temperatures. Thales several presses of the buttons. I think the more pronounced buttons on the Forerunner might be more functional. For me the Forerunner would have been a better decision. With a better battery they might fixed the issues with the Venu. I love the Garmin app and they are constantly updating software. I burrowed an Apple Watch for a few days but the feel on my wrist and having to charge it everyday makes me stay with Garmin. The sports portion of the Apple Watch is lacking. Thanks for your review. I always check your review out. Will be “watching” for any upcoming new Forerunner watches. I might update quicker this time.
Breathtaking delivery full of superb details. I've just ordered a Venu 2s to possibly replace my Apple 8 iwatch with its awful battery life. Great comparison above on the two Garmin watches.
Ah, the insider track on Garmin. I knew it. Tell ya what, when they send you the 955 for review, just title one of your videos "the eagle has landed" and I'll get the message.
Oooh new heart rate sensor, I just upgraded my Venu to a Fenix 6 Solar a few months ago. If Garmin puts this sensor on the Fenix 7, I better start saving some money now 🥴
I bought a 245 on Wednesday and Thursday these came out with the new HR sensors! I'm returning my 245 and going back to my vivoactive 3 music and wait for garmin to update all the watches to the new sensor
Pretty cool! I'm thinking about picking up this watch as a companion to my Fenix 7X which I find too bulky especially for sleeping. I plan to wear this watch while at home to record vitals and keep my Fenix 7X for outdoors which I use several times per week. Looks like Garmin is trying to face them out with a sale on their website. The Venu 2 seems perfect for daily home use and light exercise activities. Thanks!!
I like the larger Venu 2 more but it's a personal preference. Both are great in terms of visibility and reading. The smaller 2s is VERY small almost too small for me. But I am used to larger watches. Hope that helps!
Definitely contemplating switching from AW now! A couple questions I thought of… can you pause a workout in the middle? Or only start/stop? Also, will I be able to integrate my calendar from my iPhone? Lastly, how detailed of weather info does it provide? Thanks so much! This review definitely helped my decision!
Great video! Thanks. I am faced with a dilemma: Fenix 6 or Venus 2. I don't run ultramarathons, I just try to be active: running, cycling. What would you recommend and what am I missing by choosing the Venus?
@@ChaseTheSummit And how would you compare venu 2 to Amazfit GTS or Huawei GT 2 PRO? The price ~ 2 times higher means that the venu 2 is really a watch of a completely different class?
Thank you for this great video. Those are always very helpful and interesting. I have a more technical question regarding the side buttons. Do those differ to e.g. the forerunner series? When I tested the Venu 2, I had a bit of a margin when pressing the side buttons. Might be also technical issue. Maybe you experienced the same thing. Thank you for your answer!
The buttons are all different depending on the watch. The Venu 2's I've tested have decently clicky buttons but the button itself is a little thin for my liking. The forerunners have round buttons which I find easier to press while running.
I only have the Apple Watch SE. I think the Venu 2 has a step up compared to the SE but I've heard that the Series 6 is quite good. I should have a Series 6 soon to compare to the venu 2!
My first garmin was a vivoactive 3 then went to the forerunner 645 ( non music) now I'm using the fenix 6s.. but this venu 2 is looking pretty good with that display 👀
Wow even Garmin Venu2 with that colorful display have more gps hrs than Garmin 745. Can't wait to see that new hr sensor in forerunner line up.Nice Vid .
Awesome video as always. That is such a pretty watch! Personally I prefer having the always-on display even though the AMOLED looks really nice and clean. I am saving my money for a new fenix/forerunner.
I forgot to mention in this video that you can set the watch to be always-on in the display settings. It does however have an impact on battery life. Thanks for watching!
Health snapshot can be useful for training load : fresh, load the training, stressed, easy on th training. Been using HRV this way for a while now, a bit like resting HR. Otherwise, great review, thanks
Unfortunately the Venu 2's don't offer track navigation like a Forerunner or Fenix 6. The do have "bearing navigation" which just points an arrow in the direction of your saved destination. No breadcrumb trail or off-course navigation. Hope that helps.
I mostly run 5km to 10km distances. Will the forerunner series or venu 2 be more suitable? I don't do cycling or swimming etc. Just running and maybe some tennis/squash. Thanks!
Both will do the job for running casually. The Forerunner has a bit more features for training like V02Max, race prediction, training load, etc... Hope that helps.
How would you say that this watch compares to the Polar Ignite 2 or the Polar Vantage M2? What I really ultimately want is a Fenix solar, but it's out of my budget right now. So I'm looking at this one and the 2 Polar models I mentioned.
The Vantage M2 is probably the most sport-dedicated of the bunch while the ignite 2 and Venu 2 are more of a "wellness tracking" watch for folks who aren't hardcore athletes and still want to track their activities while having an excellent AMOLED watch for daily life. Between the Venu 2 and Ignite 2 I prefer the Venu 2 for it's improved responsiveness, brighter display, better battery life, and more customization with Garmin Connect. Then again, it's nearly double the price of the Ignite 2. They're all pretty good though!
I'm curious to see what they do with the Vivoactive line now that the Venu 2 has much longer battery life. It seems like the Venu 2 might replace it? But who knows 🤷♂️
@@ChaseTheSummit Thanks. I think I will try the Venu 2. My only concern is the readability of the screen in bright sunlight. I can return it to REI within 90 days in case a Vivoactive 5 shows up or go for a discounted 945 or the 945 LTE.
Hi Dave, have you compared the Hrv result with phone app such as HRV4Training ? I test my fenix 6s HRV test widget from the IQ connect and the result is very high compare with HRV result from HRV4Training. 🙏🙏🙏
What sensor are you using for HRV4Training? It would be interesting to see what the app says if you use the Broadcast HR feature from a Garmin watch as the sensor? Thanks for sharing.
Hi Dave, you're definitely my favorite running watch reviewer. I also appreciate that you respond to everyones comments. Does Venu2 have pacepro? Trying to decide between Venu2 and FR245. I wish Garmin would make a Venu2 smartwatch with all of the FR running features. Thx.
Hey thanks! Unfortunately Venu 2 does not get Pace Pro. That's kind of reserved for dedicated "running watches" like the Forerunner and Fenix. Hope that helps!
Should I get this or the Fenix 6S Pro? Here where I am from, the Fenix 6S Pro is on sale at almost half price making it about the same price as the Venu 2.
They're very different watches. The Fenix 6s offers full offline mapping and advanced navigation features, advanced training metrics for running/cycling, multi-sport/triathlon mode, and superior battery life. The Venu 2 has a much nicer display, and the new Elevate 4.0 HR sensor. Venu is more of a daily watch that can track some activities. Fenix is more of a dedicated outdoor/sports watch that is designed to be used in a variety of situations for training, navigation, etc... Which one is right for you? That depends what you primarily do. Are you a casually active person that jogs a few days a week? Venu 2 would be better suited. Are you an ultra runner or triathlete? Or someone who frequently goes camping/hiking in the back country? Fenix 6 will be a better tool. Hope that helps!
Not necessarily. The original Venu is still an awesome watch. But if you find the battery life a little weak or the HR sensor not to be as awesome as you hoped the Venu 2 might be worth the upgrade if you can sell your venu at a decent price. Hope that helps!
If I usually wear a fenix 5s would the Venu 2s be comparable in size . You had mentioned that you liked the fenix 6s size wise. If you were buying a new venu which size would you choose?
Yep, they'd be similar in size but the Venu 2s is much lighter and also thinner so it will feel substantially smaller on the wrist. I personally like the larger Venu 2 because of the larger screen and the fact that it's still super light at under 50 grams. Hope that helps!
I am debating myself for months over which my first smart watch device should be. I have an iPhone, so AW is in the game, but I overall incline towards Garmin thanks to better overall tracking abilities. I couldn't really decide yet (if only Instinct had Garmin Pay or Venu SQ had been just a bit more compelling to me..) but Venu2 is the one that wins me over. If Apple (or Garmin) does not come with anything better (for Apple it means significantly improving the battery life), I will go for it.
Venu 2 is a great Apple Watch alternative and offers superior battery life. The Apple watch does integrate a bit better with iphone being able to answer phone calls and respond to text messages. Hope that helps!
@@ChaseTheSummit I will go with Venu2. Battery life and execise animations wins. I will miss Apple Pay but since Fitnes+ is not supported here, there is no more for me to look for. Garmin Pay will do just fine too (especially since I can get the Venu2 with a significant discount)
Good afternoon, i wnat to upload a gpx file to the Garmin Connect app and than run this course by navigation on a Garmin watch. On a Garmin Venu 2 is isn't possible to get navigation, beside al large red arrow? My question therefore is: is possible to use Komoot for getting Turn by turn navigation on a Garmin venu 2. It would be great of you coudl anwer this question Dave
Unfortunately the Venu 2 does not have navigation features. It can only execute a simple "Back to start" with arrow guidance. For navigation features you'll need to move to a Forerunner 245, 745, or 945. Or a Fenix.
Is this durable enough for tree work? or do i need to stick to fenix/instinct? my Fibit Ionic has gotten knocked off my wrist a few times and can be hard to find. looking for a rugged replacement as I am afraid to lose it. Thanks!
going to get my first fitness watch and have 2 watches in my mind: Coros Apex pro & Garmin Venu 2. but hard to decide which one to go. I do HIIT, moderate weight trainning & running 3-4 days a week for 10 km. any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks
I think they'd both do the job. The Venu 2 does have a dedicated HIIT activity profile that the Apex Pro is missing. The Apex Pro is a bit more designed for trail running/hiking. The Venu 2 is more of a wellness device. Hope that helps.
Hi, can you help me decide between garmin venue 2s and coros apex. I mostly road run 3 times per week upto 20 miles in total including trail running and occasional cycling, fell walking. I am training for an ultra marathon but all I'm interested in is pace/ distance/time. I like features like steps and sleep tracking, heart rate. I just can't decide.
For mainly running, and ultra marathon nuse I'd go for the Apex for it's longer battery life and more advanced training tools. The Venu 2 is a better "wellness/smartwatch" device. I'd also consider the Garmin Instinct 2 as it's VERY similar to the Apex.
@@ChaseTheSummit thankyou. Before you replied I was leaning towards coros. I have just watched your comparison between Pace 2 and Apex, I'm thinking the pace 2 would be better suited as I doubt I would use the additional features the apex has. Which garmin would you say is most similar to the pace 2, if any?
in your opinion, what should I buy, venu 2 or coros apex pro? i'm torned coz apex pro has way more battery life compared to venu 2 but venu 2 has more functionality and is easier to use. pls advise. thanks 🙂
They're very different watches. The Venu 2 is more of a "wellness" device aimed to improve your daily fitness and allow you to focus on sleep and recovery as well as track some activities. The Apex Pro is a dedicated sports watch designed to track activities and help with navigation and training. Both will simply track a run, but I guess it depends what you're looking to get out of it.
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks. I'm leaning towards buying venu2 for my day to day gym workout and running activities. The only downside really is the battery 😑
They're very different watches. The Venu 2 is more of a wellness tracker. Great for someone who is active, and likes wearing a smartwatch day to day but not someone who is into extreme activities like ultra running, traithlon, backcountry camping, etc... The Fenix 6s offers offline mapping with navigation, advanced training metrics, and multi-sport modes and superior battery life thanks to its low power display. Different tools for different jobs. Which one is right for you depends on what you intend to do with it. I hope that helps!
Hi. I'm considering Venu 2 now but I have some doubts... This watch has really few outdoor activities. Lets say I would like open water swimming or roller skating. What are my options? Not possible? Creating my own activity? Download app from Connect IQ? My girlfriend uses Apple Watch 2 but she downloaded Suunto app for her iPhone cause it has more activities and better tracking than Apple dedicated app. Is it possible to do on Android phone and Garming watch? Like pair Garmin device with Polar or Suunto app for more activities?
You can download additional features from Connect IQ. There's likely an open water app but I haven't checked. I'm not sure if you'll get a great GPS track from the Venu 2 when it's under water though.
@@ChaseTheSummit and what about pairing it with other platforms? Is it possible? And maybe you have some experience with Huawei watches? Like Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro or even newer generation - Watch 3 or GT3 Active?
@@silyenn You can't pair garmins with anything but the Garmin Connect platform. You can, export your data manually and upload to something else though. Sorry, no experience with Huawei.
which watch should i go for it being running purpose mainly which includes uphill runs plus i want accurate spo2 ;HR monitor and accurate inbuilt GPS??
Great video - and love the new Venu 2 and 2s with the new heart rate sensor. What's the lug to lug for the Venu 2 and 2s? My wrist diameter is 7inch - which one would you recommend that I get?
You can display the active HR on the watch face out of the box but I don't see a graph. That said, you can download third party watchfaces from the CIQ store!
You forgot to mention the ability to copy existing profiles and it has additional alternatives for names, such as race, combat, basketball, soccer, football, dog walk etc. It would've been interesting to find out if they've added new alternatives behind the scenes there. Ofc the profiles essentially are the same, but it allows tracking them individually for stats.
You can copy and create custom activities on the Venu 2. GPS aquisition was just as snappy as my Forerunner 945 and Fenix 6. I'm pretty certain they're still using the same antenna design and Sony GPS chip so I don't think too much has changed from the Vivoactive 4/Venu to this new Venu 2 in terms of GPS accuracy. Thanks for watching.
Hey Dave, First of all- your videos are awesome! Thank you for this great work! I read your comment, That you will do another Test/Video of the Venu 2. It would be very nice if you could let us know, if the venu 2 could be ur Next daily driver or not and why. I have to make a big decission: Venu 2 or Fenix 6s. And in times like this (every market is Closed) its very Hard to make the correct decission. I watched almost every video from you and i know that you like a lot of watches that you tested. But at the end of the day, its always your 6s which proudly come back to ur wrist. Maybe one of your next Videos could help me out here. Cheers Marcus
The Fenix and Venu are very different devices. The Venu 2 is more focused on wellness tracking and being a great smartwatch with an OLED display. It's for people who occasionally workout but it's not their primary objective in life. The Fenix 6 is purpose built for endurance sports, hiking, being off the grid, etc... Offline maps, advanced training metrics, and the ability to use multi-sport mode for triathlon events. Both have their place, but for me I like the Fenix 6 for versatility. Hope that helps!
@@ChaseTheSummit Thanks Dave for that ultra quick response!! Yes that helps a lot! But in this case, i think im a "in betweener" haha. I like hiking and camping a lot but i do it only 3-4 times a year. Day to day i am a active person who love to see all that data from my runs, workouts and sleep. Not an easy decision, hm? We will see - Thanks a lot for your time and stay healthy! PS: I hope your merch cap will be available soon!
@@ChaseTheSummit that's pretty good. I was reading specs somewhere saying only 2 days. Now if they would just come out with wireless charging it would be much easier.
Nice review. Just curious why you don't think this would be appropriate for Triathletes/ ultamarathoners. My guess would be no OWS tracking for tris and not enough battery for ultras? How does this compare to the Vivoactive4?
The Venu 2 doesn't have a proper triathlon/multisport mode so when you transition from Swim/Bike/Run you'll need to stop the activity... save it... and start a new one which isn't all that great. The Venu 2 could certainly get by in an ultra marathon as long as it's under the claimed 22 hours of battery life but I'd probably keep it under 10-15 to be safe. The Venu 2 is also lacking any form of navigation features which a lot of ultra runners like to have. In terms of comparing it to the Vivoactive 4 it's the same as comparing it to the original Venu so the points I talk about in this video apply to the vivoactive as well. Hope that helps!
The Venu 2 isn't really designed for Triathletes. It doesn't feature a proper multi-sport activity so you'd need to stop/restart activities at transitions. I'd look into a Forerunner or Fenix if Tri's are your objective!
@@ChaseTheSummit hey, from a runner, biker perspective, would this watch work better (heart rate tracker, foot step counter, etc) than the 945. I'm just looking for a fitness focused watch
Another great video thanks! It would appear that Garmin is trying to copy the sleep features from Polar. Would be super to have a video comparing Garmin sleep tracking and metrics with the Grit X or V2!
It seems like they're all striving for a similar sleep platform at this point. Even the Whoop Band has a similar looking Graph but I'd agree that Polar seems to be the one doing it the longest. A sleep comparison video is a great idea. Thanks for watching!
Great review. Question- is there a way to see each song in a playlist- using Amazon Music on the Venu 2? I can only seem to see my playlist but when I click on it, there is not list- just the first song starts playing. have to hit next >| to see the next song. This makes it very hard to get to song #30...when you are running at 7mph! There has to be an easier way- anyone? If I used Spotify music app instead, could I then see each song on a scrollable list?
Not really. Garmin just lets you download entire playlists to the watch. It's not very easy to navigate to a particular song. I think the easiest way is to organize a series of small playlists for use on the watch.
@@ChaseTheSummit Sadly I believe you are correct. The only work around I found is to purchase the songs download the MP3 file to Windows Media player then sync that list. Within the my music folder on the venue 2 I can actually see each individual song and I can scroll them too. Having 2 or 3 smaller playlists for specific types of workouts is also a good idea. It's disappointing that the collaboration between garmin and Amazon doesn't create a better experience experience. I guess they want to sell the songs. It's funny that they don't even offer it as an upgrade option, they just leave us hangin. It's taken me several days to figure this out on my own by going into the garmin forum and asking others.
Every time I make a decision on which watch I will buy, you do a great review on another......Im now stuck between T-Rex Pro (budget) Polar Ignite 2 (budget Triathlon) and Venu 2 - seems to do everything .....I want one that will give me open water swim GPS....Thoughts? Thanks
I think the Polar and Garmin options feel a bit more polished and reliable. The T-Rex Pro is a neat device but doesn't feel as mature. The Garmin Venu 2 is certainly the best of those options but also twice as much money. Tough choice!
@@venuswhitestar6695 thanks for that. I'm probably going for a budget option. T rex pro has dropped a bit and amazfit bip u pro does everything for £50!
Thanks for a good video like always. Since they manage to improve the battery life to good levels with this display, I'm wondering if we aren't going to see a version of the Fenix 7/FR-series with this display, sapphire glass and solar...would be really nice.🙂🤔
That would be quite interesting but I hope it's not ALL fenix models since it still won't have amazing battery life. It would be cool to see an oled variant though!
Thanks for the response, you are truly dedicated to answer every single comment to your videos. Highly impressive and appreciated.🙂👍👌 Yepp, that was my hope, that they will release a Fenix 7/FR-series variant with this display for us who want the Fenix 7 features with a gorgeous display for the cost of some battery life. I have no idea about the percentage of Fenix-owners who go on multi day hikes/adventures without possibility to charge, but I would guess that there is market for Fenix functionality with a gorgeous screen for the cost of not beeing able to go on multi day hikes with all festures turned on. The Enduro showed some really impressive improvements in power management, this should be able to be put in use in a Fenix with a AMOLED display and still get more than acceptable battery life. I can only hope.😊
Thank you so much, I have it on my fr245 and I love it as it turns off all connections, its in the circular menu, long press one of the button, I know fenix has it
I have a fenix 3 so I was looking into getting a new model but was unsure if I should do this one or vivoactive 4. The only thing is that I wish they had texting like the apple watches have where you can text from tracing on the screen. If it had that then it would be perfect.
Unfortunately that texting feature is exclusive to apple. They don't allow third parties like Garmin to compose text messages. So it's really an Apple issue and less of a Garmin issue!
It will do the job but I think there are better options like the Forerunner 245 or 945 that will give you longer battery life and better navigation capabilities. The Venu 2 also doesnt have a "trail run" activity out of the box but it can be added manually.
@@ChaseTheSummit yes fully agree with you. its not the best for this purposed. but the screen....I like it so much :) and when mostly I run and only sometimes trails then maybe its worth to consider. Trail mode can be added manually ?
I wonder why they are not able to adjust screen brightness depending on the surrounding light... That HR sensor looks very promising. I have an Vivoactive 4 and I'm eyeing for the Fenix 6S. But maybe I should wait for the Fenix 7S... 🤔
The Venu 2 does have an ambient light sensor but you can set the brightness threshold manually as well. In direct sunlight it really needs to be at max brightness or it's a little hard to see. I think we're all hoping to see a Fenix 7 soon! Thanks for watching.
The Fenix 6s is almost 50% off at many Australian retailers at the moment making it a similar price to the venu 2. Tough choice! Training metrics on the old HR sensor, or more accurate HR sensor and cool weightlifting features, but fewer training metrics and recommendations 🤔 Probably discounted to make room for something exciting about to drop... I'm tempted to save a lot of cash and get the discounted Fenix 6s pro, but Garmin being Garmin you know when that new watch drops, the Fenix 6 will not get another update...
@@waynedoherty7758 that’s not true. Fenix 5 is still getting updates. But Fenix 6 “beta” time seems to be over by now and the software is more stable than on its release date.
Can you add a new activity profile and change the name of the activity profile (by example Body Pump, ABT, etc)? I cannot do that on Garmin Vivoactive 4. I can only change the name of the activity after the activity is recorded, in Garmin Connect (on my phone app or a browser), so I have to do that after each workout, which is very disappointing :(
@@ChaseTheSummit Where can you rename the activity? On the watch itself? There is a virtual keyboard on the watch? In the Garmin Connect app? Or on the Garmin Connect website? Thanks!
@@ChaseTheSummit This is great news! On Vivoactive 4 you can only copy an existing activity (Bike, Class, Cardio, etc) and chose the name of the new activity from a predefined list of names: Cardio(2), Basketball, Frisbee, etc. You cannot enter a custom name (like Core Training, Body Pump, etc) for the new activity profile. Out of the box it does not have a Trail Run activity. However you can duplicate the "run activity" and rename it if you want to keep them seperate. Hope that helps!
They're very different. I'd say the Venu 2 aligns more with the Polar Ignite 2 but the Venu has the upper hand with new HR sensor, onboard music, better phone integration, more activities to choose from, etc... Hope that helps!
Unlikely. A lot of the magic going on here is thanks to a new CPU/GPU that allows the Venu 2 to be super responsive with more intense graphics. I could be wrong but I doubt they'll port the UI back to the original.
They can control the music on your phone but cannot store offline Apple Music to listen to phone free. This is a limitation from Apple… not Garmin. Hope that helps!

Great video! What watches would be at the top of your list focusing specifically on running 1/2 and full marathons and sleep tracking.
Polar Vantage V2, Forerunner 945, COROS Pace 2, and COROS Apex come to mind.
Yup, you can pause/resume workouts on the Venu 2. And yes the Garmin Venu 2 works with the IOS calendar and Google Calendar.
@@ChaseTheSummit Awesome, thanks so much!
@Atlanticway Paddle & Adventures thank you for saying that! I ordered the Venu 2S earlier today. I’m stoked!
Great video! Thanks. I am faced with a dilemma: Fenix 6 or Venus 2. I don't run ultramarathons, I just try to be active: running, cycling. What would you recommend and what am I missing by choosing the Venus?
If you don't need navigation or ultra long battery life the Venu 2 is a good option!
@@ChaseTheSummit great, thank you for your answer! I really appreciate your channel and the videos that you are doing!
How is the battery life with the always on display activated??
Great review as always!
I get 4 or 5 days out of it with AOD enabled. Not too shabby!
Great video .
Which hart rate accuracy would you say more correct Apple Watch or Garmin Venu 2?
I only have the Apple Watch SE. I think the Venu 2 has a step up compared to the SE but I've heard that the Series 6 is quite good. I should have a Series 6 soon to compare to the venu 2!
My first garmin was a vivoactive 3 then went to the forerunner 645 ( non music) now I'm using the fenix 6s.. but this venu 2 is looking pretty good with that display 👀
It's quite pretty!
Hey, it’s so cool to have you’re reviews. How do feel with touch screen on the activities? Does it work properly or it annoying? Thanks you :)
The touch interface is pretty solid. No complaints but I do prefer buttons.
Wow even Garmin Venu2 with that colorful display have more gps hrs than Garmin 745. Can't wait to see that new hr sensor in forerunner line up.Nice Vid .
Longer GPS battery but not as good in standby mode. The future Forerunners are going to be really exciting! Thanks for watching!
@@ChaseTheSummit Ooh that's nice!
I have a forerunner 645m, would it be worth it to trade up to the venu 2? Am I gunna miss the 645?

I'm sure there are some creative uses for it. Thanks for sharing!
Great review, really like the blue version. Can the Venu 2 runs komoot or gpx routes?
Unfortunately the Venu 2's don't offer track navigation like a Forerunner or Fenix 6. The do have "bearing navigation" which just points an arrow in the direction of your saved destination. No breadcrumb trail or off-course navigation. Hope that helps.
Love the t-shirt man. Great video as always
Thanks Chris! I need to expand my wardrobe. This one is in a few videos 🙈

Venu 2 seems pretty good. I'm comparing it to a forerunner 245 to choose one. This video was helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks. Still waiting for the Vivoactive 5 with reflective screen. Hope the Vivoactive series isn't discontinued.
@@ChaseTheSummit brilliant reviews Dave! I’m trying to decide between the Vivo active 4s and Venu 2s for my wife. Which one would you recommend?
Hi Dave, have you compared the Hrv result with phone app such as HRV4Training ? I test my fenix 6s HRV test widget from the IQ connect and the result is very high compare with HRV result from HRV4Training. 🙏🙏🙏
What sensor are you using for HRV4Training? It would be interesting to see what the app says if you use the Broadcast HR feature from a Garmin watch as the sensor? Thanks for sharing.
Thinking of buying this one to replace my vivoactive 3. Looks really good. And battery life doesn't seem to be a problem.
It would make for a great upgrade to the Vivoactive 3. Hope you like it!
@@ChaseTheSummit I want to know if there is a Vivoactive 5 coming!
I ordered the venu 2s. I do have the regular venu but now I'm upgrading.
Nice! The Venu 2 is a good one!
How is the venu 2s? Any issues? Im thinking of getting one
@@samuelting6991 I have no issues. Thinking of selling mine and going beach to the Samsung watch 4. But the watch is great. I suggest getting it.
Should I get this or the Fenix 6S Pro? Here where I am from, the Fenix 6S Pro is on sale at almost half price making it about the same price as the Venu 2.
I am in the same situation, trending to fenix, but not sure...
@@ChaseTheSummit many thx! that a quite objective approach that make sense
!
Nice video.. I got the original venu , should I upgrade it ?? is it worth it ??
Not necessarily. The original Venu is still an awesome watch. But if you find the battery life a little weak or the HR sensor not to be as awesome as you hoped the Venu 2 might be worth the upgrade if you can sell your venu at a decent price. Hope that helps!
@@ChaseTheSummit Thank you so much for your reply . very kind of you.
Or a Fenix.
Does the watch automatically detect when you’re sleeping ? Or do you have to manually set it ?
It's automatic.

Is this durable enough for tree work? or do i need to stick to fenix/instinct? my Fibit Ionic has gotten knocked off my wrist a few times and can be hard to find. looking for a rugged replacement as I am afraid to lose it. Thanks!
I doubt it. I'd go for something like a Fenix 6 Sapphire for rugged outdoor work. My two cents!
@@ChaseTheSummit thank you for the reply! I was leaning toward the fenix 6 sapphire too! Greetings from vermont
I bought this watch the other day. Love it! Only thing I find somewhat annoying is no Trail run profile? like why?
You can make one! Simply hit the "plus" sign, and duplicate the "run" profile. It will give you the option to name it "Trail Run".
going to get my first fitness watch and have 2 watches in my mind: Coros Apex pro & Garmin Venu 2.
but hard to decide which one to go.
Thank you so much for your valuable view, I picked the Venu 2. Love your review videos 👍
awesome video and super helpful thanks! Can you do a comparison between the venu 2 and the galaxy active 2?
I don't have a Galaxy Active 2 on hand unfortunately! Thanks for watching.
@@ChaseTheSummit ahh bummer! Thanks for the response and the great video!
I am unsure whether to go with a fenix 6s pro or the venu 2. I guess you prefer the fenix 6s pro, if yes - why?

Venu 2 would fit the bill.
does Garmin refresh this every year? might opt to get Venu 3 if they plan to release another on Q1/Q2 next year
Garmin typically updates every 2 to 2 1/2 years but it seems like the cadence has increased lately.
Great video - and love the new Venu 2 and 2s with the new heart rate sensor.
What's the lug to lug for the Venu 2 and 2s?
My wrist diameter is 7inch - which one would you recommend that I get?
I'd go for the Venu 2 if you have 7" wrists. The 2s might feel a little small and the larger screen is excellent.
Thanks Dave!
Does the watch face have heart rate graph option? Thanks !
You can display the active HR on the watch face out of the box but I don't see a graph. That said, you can download third party watchfaces from the CIQ store!
@@ChaseTheSummit Thanks! I was thinking to get a Venu 2s because after I experience a fenix 6x and fenix 6s , 6s is much better in hr tracking.
During running how many fields you can set on a single screen? 6 is possible?
Unfortunately only up to 4 data fields on the Venu 2
@@ChaseTheSummit ok thanks. Sad that on a generalist smartwatch like a watch 4 can goes up to 6 and cannot do that on a garmin
Btw, how's GPS finding? Seems to take forever on my VA4 compared to Polar Vantage M.
Definitely going for the 2s, 45 mm makes me look weird ashell😂 already made the mistake of having a normal watch that is 45 mm and it looks so off

Hey Dave,
First of all- your videos are awesome!

What about the battery life with the screen always on in normal smartwatch mode?
I get around 4 or 5 days out of the Venu 2 with always on mode.
@@ChaseTheSummit that's pretty good. I was reading specs somewhere saying only 2 days. Now if they would just come out with wireless charging it would be much easier.
Venu 2 or Fenix 5 x plus if you can get it at around the same price? Would love your thoughts
I have a video about the Fenix 6s vs Venu 2 that you might find useful as the 5X is pretty similar (just way bigger).
Ultra marathons are weird
Do you believe this new watch is less optimal for a beginner triatlete? Which watch would you recommend?
The Venu 2 isn't really designed for Triathletes. It doesn't feature a proper multi-sport activity so you'd need to stop/restart activities at transitions. I'd look into a Forerunner or Fenix if Tri's are your objective!
Sorry I haven't done my research lately, so I'll just ask, is this a replacement for the 945 or is that still coming?
Definitely not a replacement for the 945! Hopefully we see that soon! Thanks for watching.
@@ChaseTheSummit hey, from a runner, biker perspective, would this watch work better (heart rate tracker, foot step counter, etc) than the 945. I'm just looking for a fitness focused watch

I prefer the Venu 2 but it's twice the price. So it's really up to you.
Thanks for another great informative video as always .
Thanks for watching!
What apps u use for iphone12 to get the map tracking at 11:17 ?
Is Venu 2 fully compatible with Garmin HRM-pro (support of running dynamics and atc)?
Unfortunately no, the Venu line isn't compatible with running dynamics much like the Vivoactive series. They're designed for casual active people.
Would have been nice to see the Venu 2 on your wrist to get an idea how much smaller it is.
I have another video coming soon comparing it to the Fenix 6s. I'll be sure to include this!

Which one is better for running? Ticwatch PRO š GPS, or Garmin Venue 2 _?
I'd lean towards Venu 2 for its longer battery life and more advanced metrics and training tools.
FYI…Garmin Venu 2 does not have open water swim option, just a pool option from what I heard.
Does it have a airplane mode, not only bt off option but a real airplane mode?
I don't see an option for airplane mode in the menu. You can selectively disable bluetooth and wifi though.

Would u recommend this over a forerunner 45?
Probably but it kind of depends what activities you're doing. For a runner the 45 might be the better device.
What do you think about use it for trail running ? but not ultra :)

I'm really holding out for a Vivoactive 5!
I'm wondering if that will ever exist now that the Venu series has decent battery life. I suppose time will tell!

Bah I want the strength training features, but with cycling power metre and workout recommendation support - forerunner 955 maybe?
Hopefully! We shall see!
Can you add a new activity profile and change the name of the activity profile (by example Body Pump, ABT, etc)? I cannot do that on Garmin Vivoactive 4. I can only change the name of the activity after the activity is recorded, in Garmin Connect (on my phone app or a browser), so I have to do that after each workout, which is very disappointing :(
Yes, you can duplicate and rename activities on the Venu 2/2s
@@ChaseTheSummit Where can you rename the activity? On the watch itself? There is a virtual keyboard on the watch? In the Garmin Connect app? Or on the Garmin Connect website? Thanks!
@@radu.antohi on the watch itself. It takes a while but you can duplicate/rename activities.
I hope Garmin will add this feature also on Vivoactive 4 soon, if it already exists on the Venu 2/2s. Best regards!

I am confused, @Desfit said yesterday that "Not possible to change the Activity Name, other than choosing from the list available on the watch."
How do you return ? The venu 2s is too small 😣 I'm looked on my email and don't see how to return
I suppose that depends who you purchased it from? Contact them.
@@ChaseTheSummitPlayBetter..sorry I found it
@@karastover8963 Not my company... They sponsor videos on this channel occasionally. If you want to return they include a return shipping label in the box. Otherwise contact them directly at returns.playbetter.com/
@@ChaseTheSummit My son loves Chase the Summit hat ... he works for UPS and didn't realized it was moisture Wicking . Kept him cool while lugging boxes 💯 He also received alot of comments... I'm going to order more now!
hi nice vid i know the new heartrate sensor is probably better. but can you get some more sports to compare with the fenix6s. this is just 1 activity?
In this video I talk about my experience using it for 5 or 6 running activities in various conditions (trail and road). I'll follow up with more intense testing soon!
Hi there does this watch have the option for trail running ? Thank you !
Out of the box it does not have a Trail Run activity. However you can duplicate the "run activity" and rename it if you want to keep them seperate. Hope that helps!
@@ChaseTheSummit thank you !
How does this stack up against the Polar Vantage M2?
They're very different. I'd say the Venu 2 aligns more with the Polar Ignite 2 but the Venu has the upper hand with new HR sensor, onboard music, better phone integration, more activities to choose from, etc... Hope that helps!
Will Venu receive the interface from Venu 2? Seems like a major revamp.
Unlikely. A lot of the magic going on here is thanks to a new CPU/GPU that allows the Venu 2 to be super responsive with more intense graphics. I could be wrong but I doubt they'll port the UI back to the original.
Can these music watches from garmin play music from apple music (iphone) or its only spotify ?
They can control the music on your phone but cannot store offline Apple Music to listen to phone free. This is a limitation from Apple… not Garmin. Hope that helps!
@@ChaseTheSummit ya, thx for the quick answer. I don’t mind for the price. I rather buy a cheap 10$ waist band to hold my phone while running.
Your videos are very informative for a GPS watch newcomer like me.
@@Sth3no Glad you find them helpful!
Is it good for gym ?
Yup
I have heard the sleep tracking is rubbish on these? I want to get the 2S but if anyone has any experience on the sleep ?
That’s interesting. The newer Garmin’s like the Venu 2 are actually quite good in my experience. The only complaint I see a lot is that they don’t pick up naps throughout the day.
@@ChaseTheSummit Thankyou I really want one can’t decide what colour though which ladies one looks best in your opinion ?
