Wow - that Guilford station runs smooth as silk. American Flyer definitely made their accessories to operate flawlessly. I am a postwar Lionel purist, and can tell you that some of their accessories are very aggravating. I would love to have a Guilford station on my layout. Very clever and entertaining. Thanks for a great demonstration!
The American Flyer accessories don’t always work so smoothly, either, but when you consider what the designers and engineers at toy train companies had to work with back then, I think it’s impressive what they came up with. No microcircuits and nothing digital- all mechanical and very creative. Thanks for watching and for your comments.
Night Hawk was the second set I received. The first was the 1958 Defender set . both belonged to my Grandfather who passed when I was 3. My father had the defender set up on Christmas morning for me the year (1962) my Grandfather passed. Each Christmas I would receive a car or two from the night hawk set receiving the engine and caboose last. I never knew these sets were my grandfathers until in my late teens I saw a picture on my grandfather standing at his layout and there were my trains in the picture. I still have both sets in the original boxes less the cut out for the defender set. Thank you for bringing this great memory back.
One of the fun, and rewarding, things about sharing these videos is hearing comments about bringing back memories. I also grew up with my dad’s set have expanded to it. I hope my grandchildren will continue it to at least some extent. Thanks for your comments and for watching.
Great job on the video. The Night Hawk Set is a colorful mixed consist and yours runs really well. The Guilford station is a great accessory. Thank you for sharing.
I've never actually seen that station operating before. Thanks for sharing that! I don't have a lot of room for accessories, but I think that will make my bucket list to find one!
Fortunately, this doesn’t take a lot of space but it seems to work best on a side track because the clearance it too tight for some engines. That’s why I back mine into a siding which will be shown in a video that should come out in the next week or so. You may have also noticed that I added a small “guide” to help the people go where they’re supposed to. I demonstrated that in an earlier video if you want to know more about that little retrofit. Thanks for the comments and for watching.
Thank you. I have to admit that it doesn’t always run smoothly and do a lot of editing but, normally, it’s not too bad and it’s a lot of fun. Thanks for watching.
